Alright.

BRYAN:

Veronica looks relieved as Bryan backs away from Jack.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

A bird. No. There are no animals out here except for the wolves.

JACK:

(Testily)

And how do you know that?

BRYAN:

Because we haven’t seen any yet. Chances are, the wolves are the only animals inside the arena.

JACK:

Well, as I said before. I saw nothing.

Both Bryan and Veronica stare at Jack, now looking very suspiciously at him.

BRYAN:

Are you sure you saw nothing?

JACK:

Yes.

BRYAN:

You better be.

And the three keep progressing on inside the arena.

A few minutes later, Bryan and the others are now a quarter- of-a-mile away from the waterfall.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

Something feels wrong.

VERONICA:

(Looks alarmed) What is it?

BRYAN:

I’m behind you guys and I haven’t yet seen any of the remaining wolves.

JACK:

I forgot. How many are left?

BRYAN:

Two...I think.

JACK:

Great. Then we shouldn’t have a problem.

BRYAN:

But still, we’re not safe just yet.

VERONICA:

(Says to Jack)

Bryan’s right. We still haven’t killed the alpha wolf yet, and there’s another wolf left besides that one.

BRYAN:

And with three-and-a-half hours left in the game, we still have a long ways to go.

VERONICA:

Especially if we’re being followed.

Veronica looks at Bryan grimly and the three keep on heading towards the waterfall.

EXT. WATERFALL-DAY

Bryan and the others reach a fifty-foot-tall waterfall, which leads into a small lake.

JACK:

(Impatiently)

So what do we do now?

BRYAN:

We hide.

VERONICA:

Behind the waterfall?

BRYAN:

Where else-

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Bryan spots the alpha wolf hiding behind a tall tree.

The others peer in the direction where he’s turned his head, and they start to panic.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

It’s right there.

JACK:

I know. I see it too.

VERONICA:

Yeah. This isn’t good.

JACK:

What should we do?

BRYAN:

I say, if it charges us, then we run as a group.

JACK:

How about, we head to the top of the waterfall?

BRYAN:

Then we jump if we need to. That’s a good idea. (Pauses) But for now, let’s keep on going.

Veronica walks behind Bryan and Jack, looking scared out of her mind.

A panicky facial expression forms on her face. Finally, the wolf charges the three.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

Run!

As soon as Bryan and Jack start forward, Veronica trips Bryan with her foot.

And then she hurries along forward with Jack, looking absolutely guilty.

Seconds later, Jack and Veronica make it to the top of the waterfall, with Bryan running his way up towards them, looking at Veronica angrily.

JACK:

Did you trip him?

VERONICA:

(Tears running down her cheeks)

Yes.

Jack shakes his head at Veronica and the two watch as Bryan climbs up the hill with the alpha wolf closing in very- quickly behind him.

BRYAN:

(Calls out to the others) Jump before I get there in case I get caught!

JACK:

Alright. You heard him.

Veronica shakes her head.

VERONICA:

What if the water is shallow?

JACK:

We don’t have a choice.

As soon as Bryan is less than ten-feet from Jack and Veronica, Jack jumps. Then Veronica goes after a moment of hesitation.

And Bryan jumps down into the waterfall just before the alpha wolf reaches the top of the waterfall.

EXT. LAKE-DAY

The three people emerge from the lake, with the alpha wolf watching them from above. And then, the wolf chases after the people again.

BRYAN:

We need to get out of here.

Bryan, Jack, and Veronica are still in the water, quickly swimming towards the edge of the lake.

JACK:

Can we stay inside the lake for the remainder of the game? Maybe the wolf can’t swim after us.

VERONICA:

Problem is, I can’t tread water for three hours.

BRYAN:

Alright, then we need to get out.

And the three exit the lake.

Surely enough, the wolf speeds their way and is now less than two-hundred-feet from them.

JACK:

(Says frantically) What do we do?

BRYAN:

We run.

As soon as Bryan starts forward (while Veronica watches the wolf in terror), Jack pushes Veronica down.

She wails before getting back up.

And Veronica stumbles her way in the direction where Bryan and Jack are both headed.

Meanwhile...

The wolf is now less than a hundred-feet from Veronica.

INT. VALLEY-NORTHWEST SECTION-OPEN AREA-DAY

Veronica still trails Bryan and Jack, and the enormous wolf is now within fifty-feet from her. However, soon enough, Jack trips over a rock and falls flat on his face. And then Veronica passes him just in time before the wolf can get to her.

No...

JACK:

Both Bryan and Veronica look back and watch the wolf begin to rip Jack to shreds with its teeth.

And soon enough, the screaming stops, signifying that Jack is dead.

INT. VALLEY-NORTHWEST SECTION-DAY

Bryan and Veronica are now far away from the alpha wolf, yet they are still on the run.

VERONICA:

(Yells) Can we stop?

BRYAN:

We need to get as far away as we can go to where it is safe.

VERONICA:

No. Seriously, I’m out of breath.

BRYAN:

That’s too bad.

Veronica stops and she collapses onto the ground. She breathes heavily as she sits on the earth.

Bryan looks behind him and sees her there. And for a few seconds, he keeps on running forward. But then, he stops and then heads back towards where Veronica is currently at.

He looks at her menacingly.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

You know, I was tempted to keep going and to leave you here.

VERONICA:

(Cries)

I’m sorry for pushing you down. I just panicked.

BRYAN:

That’s an understatement.

VERONICA:

Please forgive me...

BRYAN:

Why? You almost got me killed.

VERONICA:

I said I’m sorry!

Veronica looks into Bryan’s eyes, and he does the same to her.

BRYAN:

Alright. But from now on, we work as a team.

Ok.

VERONICA:

BRYAN:

(Changes topic)

I think we should slowly make our way towards the opposite end of the arena.

VERONICA:

Right now?

BRYAN:

Unless we want to increase our chances of getting killed, then “yes”.

VERONICA:

Then let’s go.

And both Bryan and Veronica keep heading south inside the arena.

Fifteen minutes pass, and the two remaining survivors can be seen walking diagonally towards the center of the arena.

VERONICA (CONT'D)

I can’t believe that Jack is gone.

BRYAN:

Me neither.

VERONICA:

I mean, at this rate, we can both be killed.

BRYAN:

You’re right.

VERONICA:

(Says suddenly) Wait...Why didn’t we fight the alpha as a group? You know, us

three against it and we could’ve won the game.

BRYAN:

I didn’t want to take a risk. We all could’ve been killed by that wolf. I mean, that animal is enormous.

Veronica nods her head in agreement.

And while Bryan and Veronica keep heading south, the only wolf remaining (besides the alpha) watches them closely from behind a set of large trees.

VERONICA:

I agree with you.

BRYAN:

Something’s wrong.

VERONICA:

(Alarmed) What is it?

BRYAN:

I think there’s actually two wolves left.

VERONICA:

Are you serious?

BRYAN:

(In thought)

It’s the white one I think. But that shouldn’t be a problem.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

I mean, it’s the smallest of the group.

VERONICA:

But still, it’s another obstacle in our way. And it could be helping the alpha find us too.
