CHARLES:

"Umn."

CHARLES CONT.

"Never around. That sorta thing?"

LOERINE:

"Mmm - hm."

CHARLES:

"So this is a rage for anyone."

LOERINE:

"My father? Yes."

CHARLES:

I incline my head, inquiring, "Was he ever violent?"

LOERINE:

"Yes."

CHARLES:

"You had to do what he tells you-"

LOERINE:

"Yes!"

CHARLES:

"Even if you didn't want to."

She nods ardently agreeing to my questions.

CHARLES:

“If he was never around, why do you care about him? Just let him go?”

LOERINE:

“Because he would visit me in my ballet classes when I was a kid.

as she says this, we see:

HALF SCENE. INT; BALLET STAGE:

In my ballet class, dancing, Each dancer had to follow specific rules regarding the positions of the arms, feet, and body. My foot tapped to the steady beat. Back and forth, my feet swayed across the floor as the beat picked up the pace. I do a pirouette: A turn or series of multiple turns, Then a Sauté: a small jump on two legs, landing on both legs.

CAMERA CUTS TO FATHER'S FACE in audience seats. I could see my father there watching me. I never could read his emotions.

BALLET SCENE CONT. LOERINE sitting with her classmates.

My hand collides with the person in front of me and I sit back in my chair. Everyone in these chairs is cramped. At the end of class, my dad held my hand as we walked out to the car.

CUT TO ARRIVING HOME SCENE. LOERINE'S CHILDHOOD HOME.

My father and I arrive home, He drops his duffle bags, as I race to see where my mother has gone. The time is 4:10ish pm.

YOUNG LOERINE:

'Where's mom, I said.'

FATHER:

'She’s not here right now,'

YOUNG LOERINE:

'When will she get back?'

CUT TO LOERINE'S FATHER picking upwall mounted HOUSE PHONE.

My father gets a phone call. Now, he served the marines for 12 years. During his time in Helmand Province, he found out that an Afghan police officer named Sarwan Hasan was a threat to United States forces because he was corrupt and conducted sex trafficking with children. He was told the document was classified.

INT:
HALLS OF MILITARY BASE.

My father immediately contacted his superior officer. His officer repeatedly told him not to share the information. Nevertheless, he passed the document to the intelligence officer, and at the trial in a Board of Inquiry, he was discharged as punishment.

INT:
LOERINE'S FATHER HANGING UP the house phone.

That phone call was a direct order for him to show at the Board. He was terrified."

END OF HALF SCENE. BACK TO LOERINE'S SESSION:

CHARLES. I raise my eyebrows and frown my lips.

INT; THERAPY LOUNGE. ROBERT'S SESSION.

Back with Roger Lewis. He tells me He doesn’t like to be referred to as Mr. Lewis.

CHARLES:

“What happened that night when you were sixteen?” I say, intrigued.

ROBERT:

“Hey,“ he says, warmly, “Do you like stories, novels, You like writing? You should write a book on your experiences with your customers. Clients? Patients? “ He diverted into another lane of dialogue as he changed the subject accidentally, “Hey, Do you call them clients or patients? Because I’m confused. Or is it clinical hospitals and formal medical centers that call them patients? You know because they have health issues and where it is in an office place, you call them clients?”

CHARLES:

“I like to use both, clients, patients, people, individuals, customers. I don't use it begrudgingly to denote them. I don't try to stereotype them. You can't put people into neat little shelves. Especially in my line of work.”

ROBERT:

“Back to my story.”

CHARLES:

“OK.”

ROBERT:

“It was a horrible thing. Do you know what a bystander is? Well, a witness. Is it the same thing? A witness is referring to someone who saw or heard something happen, or in the court of law, someone who can attest in some way to something. A bystander is someone who was simply around. Are you a bystander if you watch, but don't help the victim?”

CHARLES:

“What are you talking about bullying or something?”

He stayed quiet for the rest of the session. Reluctant to give more thread to the plotline of his traumatic event.

INT:
ARMANDO'S SESSION. CHARLES' THERAPY LOUNGE. END OF 2ND CYCLE. 3RD CYCLE OF SESSIONS

CHARLES:

"I honestly. See this as an upside, Armando. It means you can move on. Meet other girls."

Armando paces around as if a hamster circling its cage.

INT:
THERAPY LOUNGE. SHAWNITA'S SESSION

I wait patiently for Ms. Shawnita Gardner's session.

CHARLES (V.O)

Unlike Scientology, my clients do not have to pay enormous amounts of money for a conspiracy.

Twenty-three and one-quarter minutes go by when my phone rings.

CHARLES. I listen to the caller at his desk, I assume it's Ms. Gardner canceling.

The voice is distraught, however. Hardly make the words out. I raise the volume on my end, still, this caller's voice is Insisting.

CALLER:

"My friend..she .. there was a big fire, the firefighters haven't pulled her out yet. It's Gwearnita, she, we couldn't stop her. Please, she trusts you."

CHARLES:

“Where are you? Is the police there?”

CALLER:

"Yes (sniffs in tears), she … at the Jackson County Suburbs.”

EXT:
SUBERB STREETS.

Steering my Ford 150 truck, the dispatcher delivered the address as I follow directions. I immediately know the house because it is engulfed in fire. Two patrol vehicles are strained to either side of the road. One with a pair of policemen.

BYSTANDER:

"Stay inside at all times," one says to a bystander on his front porch.

The policeman ducks as he hears shots being fired. He has his front right foot pointing to the house, as his left-back foot is to the task at hand. He points his left arm to the assailant four houses away. His right arm to the bystander.

He and his partner crouch. Using the patrol car as cover, reply fire. From the other side of the street, an officer breaks into a dash to the rear location of the street. He does so unsuccessfully, getting shot in the head. The first officer who talked to the homeowner runs to his teammate. He drags him across the floor to safety. All this occurs as I am at the boundary of police cars barricading the entrance.

CHARLES:

"What the hell happened?!" I asked a cop in the immediate crowd. Just then, the unnamed caller races towards me weeping.

CALLER:

"It's Gwearnita Gardner, She started the fire!"

CHARLES (V.O)

I knew then her case needed better care, I think.

EXT:
BACK OF PALISADE SUV parked on the street.

After about an hour and forty minutes later, two policemen at each shoulder pulled Gwearnita into the back of a Hillsboro Police Depot. The vehicle, a Palisade SUV with golden yellow hockey stick stripes across the doors. Under it, the word: Sheriff. The glossy black on the exterior reflected the fire’s light as it was bursting and cracking.

As Ms. Gardner was escorted into the backseat with restraints, she stared two eyes at me in culpability, yet she then smiled with ego.

CHARLES:

I tell her in shock, “You plead guilty even though you didn’t strike the match! Didn’t you?”

Ian R. Carrillo Castro 28 October 2020 Short Bibliography If I were to write a paper about my life? What would I write? Well, this is what I would write. I am a leader, I am hardworking, and I am willing to set goals and use a creative strategy to solve it. I am a student because my parents believe it is smart to lead your kid off to a bright future. English class is always fun when doing essays because I have gotten the knack of writing them and narratives. Narratives can also be creative. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been creative. I played with legos as a kid. Regularly I would buy ones from the merchandise of a movie. Even though they did not look as perfect as the scene on the screen, I would mix them with other pieces to be more accurate. Also, I ditched the instructions and I would figure out how to construct them on my own and see where I messed up. I built my own Batcave, suits, guns, avengers tower, and so on. I used my imagination to fit my interests instead of blatantly regurgitating what was asked of me. The important aspect was that I would create my own set, and not follow the rules. Nowadays, I am still creative. I am constantly having fun doing something creative, the only problem is I run out of creativity. In the meantime this would happen, I would read a book to keep occupied. One of my skills is making 3dmodels, here are many websites to do this on.. Tinkercad for example is an Autodesk website where one can create 3D images or models. Other similar sites include: Cospaces, Onshape, Sketchfab to view 3D, and Blender. In Tinkercad, I created a suit replica of the Batman Begins with it’s closet, all three Iron Man arc reactors from the movies, and more suits. I began writing when an English class in seventh grade struck me with how exhilarating writing is. In my want to pursue writing, I keep practicing at it. I went to creative writing courses and practiced. In my research of writing, I came across the book, Story, by Robert McKee. He explains the principles of story writing in the means of a script portrayed on a film, but is still a narrative. Types of plots: none or anti-plot, arch plot, and minimalist. McKee also says researching an area relating to your book to fight clichés. You know what clichés are, the nerd won't get a girl, or the jock without a brain. My father also bought me a book of flash cards giving ways to fix writer's block. Writing a mystery is, for then the reader will solve it by reading. An adventure is one where the character will see a series of events for fun. At least this is what I thought. Not anymore. An adventure story still has a want and cost relationship. Mystery is tried down to discoveries and setbacks to the detective. Or whoever solved it. Mckee also stresses the questions and mystery must be solved by the end. Talking to others when the time arises about life and events helps bring out other perspectives. Languages I speak are english and spanish. Skills and Interests are skateboarding, boxing and Bo staff tricks, calisthenics, weightlifting, researching the web, reading, making 3dmodels, creative writing, and watching movies. In Boxing, I went through Feb 2019 to Mar 2020 on Mondays and Fridays. Maxwell's' Boxing center. The one at Miramar Rd Site. The coach would have us shadowbox after putting on the tape, then we go for a round on the punching bags. Sometimes we would practice sparring with partners. The coach would give different punches with numbers assigned to them. Each in different combinations to do that day. I have always been athletically inclined. Not that I would join leagues, but that I would exercise. Besides the gym, I started skateboarding. First learn the ollies, slide one foot, and hop with both. then practice while riding. After the ollies, move on to nollies, 180’s, 360’s and from there you have the basics. There are probably 20 types ranging from backspin, heelflip, kickflip, bigspin, along with their combinations of 180 and full circle degrees. I keep falling, but persevere. Recently I bought a Bo staff to learn all sorts of spinning tricks. It's as though a windmill lives in my arms. As an eleven year old, I always dreamed of doing this as efficiently. No matter how fast you go, what matters is that you never stop. The continuous motion and weight from the thicker end of the staff drives the spin along my hands. I played DC comics associated video games. Their characters such as Robin and Nightwing used their martial arts technique to fight, thus I became eager to learn it. I also used to rock climb. I learned there you must follow a path of the guide colors on the walls. Especially the times you must climb while your belly faces the rock toward the ceiling, with only your fingers dangling on therock's edges. Another aspect is what professionals call flagging. This is where you shift your weight to one side in order to balance out. Say I am gripping the wall, one with my right hand and the other with my ri more…
