Edgar Allan Poe's Lighthouse Keeper Page #2

Synopsis: A castaway awakes on a beach with wounded forehead and sees a woman leaving the place. He takes his satchel and follows her. While climbing a cliff, he falls and faints. He wakes up with amnesia in a lighthouse and the keeper Walsh explains that they are isolated in a remote peninsula where nobody can leave. The only means of transportation to San Francisco is a ferry that will arrive two weeks later. Last but not the least, he warns that he shall always keep a light burning during the night. He goes to the woods in the morning and meets the woman again. He learns that her name is Nora and they fall in love with each other. When he returns to the lighthouse, Nora explains that Walsh is crazy and she cannot go there. During the night, the young man blows out the candle and sees spectral creatures. What are the secrets of Walsh, Nora and the lighthouse?

No... it's just a drawing.

He was right, there is no girl.

It's just a product of my

Imagination or... a ghost.

I do not believe in ghosts.

Do not you believe in life after death?

I lived hell and heaven on earth,

Usually by my own desire.

No, nothing awaits me after death,

Except the cold embrace of the tomb.

It is a very bleak prospect.

He's still young, boy.

Wait until I reach my age.

You can find in the promise

Forgotten... a relief.

What are you doing?

I thought I heard something.

This is my private room.

Stay away.

I will not warn you again.

Nora!

Come with me.

- Where?

- I want to show you something.

- What is it?

- Come on.

What does this mean?

Are you crazy?

I warn you,

Do not leave this off again.

Nora!

What is he doing here?

Do you want Walsh to see it?

No, I just could not stay away.

I had to see you.

Come on.

Wait, it's too early.

He hardly knows me.

I know you.

Nora!

Nora!

It's like a dream, right?

I used to dream as a girl

With a small child...

but I pinched myself to wake up,

Because I could not stand...

the idea of falling

in love with someone...

that it was just a product

Of my imagination.

He was so much like you.

See you on the beach for the first time

I thought I was dreaming.

I felt the same, I dreamed about you

Before meeting us.

I'm scared.

Of what?

To be alone again.

This is not a dream.

It is real.

Lately my mind has been like

A book with cluttered pages...

but I'm sure of one thing.

Come with me.

What?

Come with me to San Francisco.

Nobody leaves this peninsula.

Silly stuff!

Where did you hear that from? Walsh?

Nora, this...

This sadness, is not proper to you.

We are all more than

Simple people, JP

I'm leaving, and I'm asking you to

Come with me to San Francisco.

We can build a life there.

It's possible?

Yes.

Yes! Yes!

Take me with you.

I will take you.

- We'll be together.

- Always.

Nora?

Nora?

Nora?

Nora!

Nora!

Do not!

Nora!

Nora!

Nora!

My God, no.

Nora!

Nora!

Do not tell me about Walsh.

Please, JP He is crazy.

Nobody leaves this peninsula...

Nobody leaves this peninsula...

Walsh!

Walsh!

You.

You di it.

I did what?

Killed her.

He may not have put his hand on it,

But he also killed her.

Who did I kill?

To the girl.

She said you were dangerous.

She was afraid to be alone.

I was desperate.

He filled his head with lies, Made him

believe that he could not get out of here.

I do not know what you're talking about.

We are alone here.

How long will I be here?

When will the ferry arrive?

Let go of me.

- When is he coming? Tell me!

- In two weeks.

- The ferry will be here in two weeks.

- Do not!

You said that before.

I want the truth.

Enough! Enough!

Silence!

For God's sake, stop!

The voices.

You listen to them.

Do not.

Don't lie to me.

It's okay.

It's okay!

Yes. Yes, I hear the voices...

whispering, angry,

Vengeful, whispering!

They torment me.

They tortured me.

Do not!

Do not!

Do not go there!

No no!

Walsh.

Walsh, open the door!

Back off, damn it!

Behind!

To the lighthouse.

Behind! Back off, motherfuckers!

Go back to hell! Come back!

Now!

What are those things out there?

Ghosts? Appearances?

Ghosts? Can a ghost put the

Hand in his throat and rip his life?

Why do you stand there?

Go to the kitchen, To the back.

Light all candles.

They hate the light!

Wow!

They are out there waiting.

Yes, they expect us to lower our guard.

Until the morning sun

Return them to the shadows.

You saved me.

Thank you.

It's twice already, boy.

That is for beating me in

The beach in the back.

I probably saved her life.

I should know that no one

Leaves from this peninsula.

You've said that before.

You know exactly

What happens here.

What are those things?

They are my curse.

My punishment.

Destruction of the Destroyer...

born of the grave...

to torment me and

Drag me back to hell.

Revenge!

That's what they want,

That simple.

You hurt them.

Yes.

Then he knows how to pacify them.

I can not change what I did.

Nothing less than my soul Is

going to quench his hunger.

What has he done?

Tell me.

When my wife fell

I wanted to die

but he was too cowardly

To finish with me

I drank until I could not

Lift the cup

Then, one night,

I failed to replace the lamp.

I had turned on the light many times

Being drunk, but this time...

this time a ship

Suffered the consequences.

A transport ship.

I saw him approaching and I...

I tried to turn on the signal,

But it was too late.

I was there and saw the boat

Crash on the rocks...

There were no survivors.

He hid them...

Buried them in those catacombs.

The ship broke into a thousand pieces

And sank beneath the waves.

The rest of her left

On the coast and burned it.

Most men They fell battered.

Those who tried to swim to the coast

They failed and drowned.

The bodies shattered on the rocks.

In one or two days, there was no

No trace of what happened.

I could almost convince myself of

It was a bad dream

Almost.

You are a bastard.

These men had wives, families.

They have a right to know.

I could imagine a woman

As a widow...

I could see it on the roof

From your house...

looking across the horizon, Waiting

for her husband to return from the sea.

I thought of all the

Sons of the sailors.

Lost in the sea...

they have a lot of sound

More pleasant than the dead.

They can keep waiting that way.

I could not take her with them.

Are you hearing what it says?

You are inhuman!

I'm human.

I did what any man would do

Under those circumstances.

- Not all men.

- You think he would have done something different?

- I know I would.

- You do not know anything!

You do not know who it is

Until he has faced the horror.

Hi.

Let us in...

Nora?

I do not understand.

What do not you understand?

You are a ghost?

Does a ghost do that?

Why are you afraid?

I'm not afraid.

You said that we would be

together forever.

You said you would take me with you

To San Francisco.

I am sorry.

I... I can not do that.

Why not?

The ferry did not come.

Well, I have a better idea.

You can stay here with me

forever.

Do not!

Jonathan Percival Walsh...

What is he doing here?

I warned him to go away

of my room!

The light.

Oh no.

Hey!

Hey, come back!

The rocks!

For God's sake, man!

What are you doing?

You were right.

Who were you about?

Yes.

I did not know who I was before...

but now I know.

I know now.

Is it so?

Yes.

However, he was wrong about one thing...

What was it?

Those things out there.

I think they can be appeased.

And how do you propose to do that?

I'm going to kill him, guard.

Hello?

I waited!

Hello!
