Mochi's Big Day

Synopsis: In a farmhouse on the eastern plains of Colorado lives a Great Dane named Mochi and her feline companion Noodles. Mochi overhears her humans talking about taking her somewhere important the following day. Mochi quickly informs Noodles that she must get an outfit ready so she can look nice for the event. After Mochi discovers her paws are too large to fit inside Noodles' ballerina slippers, the pair venture outside to seek the help of the other farm animals. A group of forest mice come to the rescue and offer their skills to create the perfect custom ballerina slippers for Mochi. Mochi, Noodles, and the shoemakers put forth all this effort only to find out that Mochi was only being taken to their local vet.

INT. FARMHOUSE- LIVING ROOM- DAY

Mochi and Noodles listen to their mom on the phone planning to take Mochi somewhere the following day.

MOCHI:

(excited)

Noodles you have to help me find the perfect outfit for tomorrow! I want to look fabulous!

NOODLES:

(enthusiastically)

Stay right here, I have just the thing!

Mochi patiently waits as Noodles leaves to go fetch something from the other room. You see Noodles leave the scene. Noodles quickly returns with a pink bow and some ballerina slippers in her mouth. Noodles drops the items at Mochi's feet.

NOODLES:

(confidently)

These should do the trick!

MOCHI:

(unsure)

I don't know Noodles, I don't think these shoes will fit. This bow should work though.

Mochi struggles to fit her massive paw into the tiny shoes. Noodles helpfully places the bow around Mochi's head as she struggles with trying on the shoes.

MOCHI:

(defeated)

These are never going to fit. Is there anything else we can do?

NOODLES:

(excited)

Oh I'm sure someone on the farm has shoes that will fit you Mochi! We should go ask them!

CUT TO:

EXT. FRONT PORCH- DAY

You see Noodles exit the cat door and go beside the porch to the trash cans to ask a raccoon named Scraps if he can help her unlock the front door so Mochi can join them outside. She quickly informs Scraps of their mission to find shoes that fit Mochi.

NOODLES:

(nicely)

Hey Scraps, long time no see. I'm gonna need a favor. I need your thumbs. Well, we need your thumbs. Mochi and I need to go around the farm and ask everyone for bigger shoes. You know she's got this big thing tomorrow. No big deal. Anyway, I need you to unlock the door so Mochi can come outside. Think you can do that?

SCRAPS:

(kindly)

Absolutely. What are friends with opposable thumbs for, right?

Scraps goes through the cat door, you hear the lock release, and the door opens to allow Mochi to join Noodles on the stairs leading down the porch.

MOCHI:

(gratefully)

Thanks Scraps! You're the best!

Mochi and Noodles head out toward the barn at equal pace.

CUT TO:

EXT. STABLES- DAY

The pair approach the stable of their horse friend Trot.

TROT:

(curiously)

What can I do for you two on this fine day?

MOCHI:

(pleadingly)

The ballerina slippers Noodles had were way too small for my paws and I was wondering if you had any shoes I could wear to this big event tomorrow?

TROT:

(jokingly)

Well I don't think my shoes will work!

Trot whinnies a laugh and gears his gaze over to several horseshoes hanging on the stable wall. Mochi and Noodles meet his gaze to see that Trot’s horseshoes won't work at all. They look at each other and laugh and continue their journey through the farm.

CUT TO:

EXT. GOAT PEN

The pair venture away from the stables toward the goat pen. The goats are laughing and jumping all about the logs and crates.

GOAT 1:

(excited)

Parkour!

GOAT 2:

(excited)

Parkour!

GOAT 3:

(excited)

Parkour!

Goat 1 stops jumping from crate to crate first when he notices Mochi and Noodles at the gate.

GOAT 1

(breathless)

Hey ladies (pauses to catch breath), what brings you out today?

NOODLES:

(happily)

Sorry to interrupt, but we need a fine pair of shoes that will fit Mochi, and we were wondering if you could help us out?

GOAT 1

(breathily)

Oh sure. You can try one of mine. I have the biggest hoof here.

Goat 1 removes his front right shoe with his teeth and passes it to Mochi through the gate. Mochi takes the athletic shoe in her mouth and tries it on. Struggling, she quickly finds the shoe is far too small and hands it back to the goat through the fence.

MOCHI:

(defeated)

Thanks anyway.

A farm mouse named Shimmy crawls out from a hole in the crate Goat 2 is still standing on.

SHIMMY:

(enthusiastically)

I know shoemakers. I can take you to them!

MOCHI:

(enthusiastically)

Really? Would you do that?

SHIMMY:

(happily)

Of course! They are forest mice. Family of mine. Some of the best shoemakers in the west!

NOODLES:

(happily)

That sounds perfect. What is your name?

SHIMMY:

(respectfully)

My name is Shimmy, and you?

NOODLES:

(friendly)

I'm Noodles and this is Mochi.

MOCHI:

(friendly)

Hi. Nice to meet you.

SHIMMY:

(friendly)

Likewise. Follow me!

The pair begin to follow Shimmy toward the woods.

CUT TO:

EXT. WOODS- DAY

The pair follow Shimmy for a short distance when they reach a clearing. Around the clearing are several trees with small doors at their bases. Shimmy approaches one door and knocks and an older lady mouse in a Bonnet named Momma Thimble answers.

MOMMA THIMBLE:

(muffled)

Who is it?

SHIMMY:

(loudly)

Hey Thimb, it's Shimmy. I brought some friends that need your services.

Door Opens.

MOMMA THIMBLE:

(happily)

Oh Shim, I've missed you! What can I do for you?

SHIMMY:

(clearly)

Well, my friends here, Mochi and Noodles asked if I knew where they could find some shoes and I told them I have family in the forest that could make Mochi a pair. Do you think you could help them out?

MOMMA THIMBLE:

(laughingly)

Oh of course! It must be hard finding shoes to fit those big paws!

MOCHI:

(laughingly)

Oh, you have no idea!

Momma Thimble whistles and several other mice come out from their tree homes with measuring tape, fabric and pins and start measuring Mochi's paws. They find a fabric to match the pink bow on her head and all skillfully and quickly begin sewing ballerina slippers onto her feet. Placing cork soles into the bottom of the silk shoe. In record time they create the most beautiful ballerina shoes on Mochi's feet.

MOCHI:

(grateful)

Wow! These are better than I could have ever dreamed! Thank you Thimb! I am in your debt!

NOODLES:

(amazed)

You did a phenomenal job. Wow!

MOMMA THIMBLE:

(happily)

Do not even worry about it. It was our pleasure. Ya'll best get back now before you lose daylight.

MOCHI:

(grateful)

Thanks again.

SHIMMY:

(grateful)

Yea, thanks Thimb.

NOODLES:

(grateful)

Yea, thank you all!

The trio wave goodbye and head back out of the woods in the direction they came.
