As she finishes loading the trunk and enters the driver’s side, she takes a moment to breathe and calms herself after acknowledging something terrible has happened.

She then starts the car and drives off out of the parking garage.

EXT. BANK – DAY

The sounds of screeching tires surround the road leading in Dallas as a 1988 Dodge Ram pickup truck rolls in front of the Imperial Bank.

An older man, HANK MORGAN (late 50s), exits the truck dressed in a white button up shirt tucked into his jeans, cowboy boots and Aviator sunglass.

He shuts the driver side door and puts on his white cowboy hat as he walks up the stairs to the front entrance with a Sheriff’s deputy, SANDERS (female, early 30s), waits for him.

SANDERS:

Hank Morgan?

MORGAN:

Deputy. How bad is it?

SANDERS:

Best you come inside and see for yourself, sir.

INT. BANK – DAY

The Two enter the bank as seven dead bodies lay on the ground in pools of blood.

Crime scene investigators survey the scene and other officers are trying to maintain the perimeter.

Bullets and shell casings are sprinkled along the bank floor as Morgan looks down.

MORGAN:

It rained.

SANDERS:

Sir?

MORGAN:

It rained bullets.

Morgan then walks into the scene, looking over it as if he’s trying to piece together a jigsaw puzzle.

The Sheriff, MCMICHAELS (early 40s), attempts to stop him.

MCMICHAELS:

Hey! Whoa! Deputy, who is this?

SANDERS:

This is-

MORGAN:

Hank Morgan, I’m with the Texas Rangers. I’ve been sent down here to investigate the situation.

SANDERS:

Sir, Chief Nelson got the news an hour ago.

The Sheriff has a look of frustration on his face as Morgan continues to walk the crime scene.

MORGAN:

What exactly happened here Sheriff?

MCMICHAELS:

Bank robbery gone wrong. Ended in a damn bloodbath with the majority of the armed robbers on the run now.

Morgan looks over the dead bodies spread out on the floor.

MORGAN:

Alright, give me the run down here. Who’s who outta this bunch.

MCMICHAELS:

Four civilians with one security guard. All shot to hell I’m afraid.

SANDERS:

The other two in suits were part of the crew that hit this place. One male, one female.

It’s revealed that the two dead bodies from the crew inside are Mr. White and Ms. Purple.

MORGAN:

We have any I.D.’s on ‘em yet?

MCMICHAELS:

Not yet, we sent their blood and DNA back to the labs but...it’s hard to tell which is which.

MORGAN:

I was told there was 12 dead, I only see seven. Where’s the other five?

SANDERS:

Out back.

MORGAN:

Let’s go see then shall we.

EXT. OUTSIDE BANK – DAY

The three then exit the bank to find the other five dead bodies laid out of the ground.

Morgan looks over the scene as he did inside before asking his questions.

MORGAN:

Damn. How is this worse than what’s inside?

MCMICHAELS:

It was survival at this point. They were in a hurry to leave because they knew we were gonna kill them.

MORGAN:

Pretty good reason considering the alternative. I take it because he’s wearing a suit, he was also part of the robbery. Who are the other four?

SANDERS:

Three officers and a single civilian. The other DB is the third man.

MORGAN:

Any I.D. on him yet?

MCMICHAELS:

Nothing yet, we sent the photos off to be analyzed in the criminal database. We’re still waiting to hear if there’s any word.

Morgan squats down near the body of the robber to pull back his ski mask, revealing it to be Mr. Black.

Morgan has a look of surprise as he pulls back the mask.

SANDERS:

What is it?

MORGAN:

I know him.

MCMICHAELS:

You know him?

MORGAN:

Yeah, Paul Matthews. He’s a professional, real career criminal. I booked him some fifteen years ago and he spent twelve in prison. Figured he’d leave all this behind.

MCMICHAELS:

Guess he felt differently.

Morgan comes up from the squat as he walks further down towards the bodies of the dead officers away from Mr. Black.

MORGAN:

Only thing is, this isn’t his style. Big city bank is considered suicide if you’re not properly prepared. He must’ve cut a crew together that seemed like they knew what they were doing. But something went wrong, things got outta hand, everyone started panicking and it ended in a fire fight. And that leaves us with this mess.

He looks over the three dead officers as the three of them continue to analyze the situation.

MCMICHAELS:

Well, however you wanna chalk this up, it’s a lot bigger than a mess.

MORGAN:

Witnesses reported six cars pulling up to the bank in just about every direction. When I came in there was two 1980’s Buicks parked up front with investigators prowling in them and a third parked on the side of the building. I take it the other missing three were how the other nine got away?

SANDERS:

Yes sir. Our boys attempted pursuit, but they got away. We have an APB out on ‘em right now.

MORGAN:

Won’t do any good. If I know Paul, he’ll have switch cars planted somewhere within at least a five-mile radius. Tell your boys to stop looking for those cars on the roads, look in storage facilities, parking garages, anywhere big enough to hide a car for a short time. I take it you and your station can be accommodating Sheriff.

MCMICHAELS:

Accommodating?

Morgan looks at the Deputy as if she already knows what the Sheriff doesn’t.

SANDERS:

Sheriff McMichaels, Ranger Morgan here is taking lead on this case due to the sensitive nature that this has now gone outside Dallas jurisdiction.

MORGAN:

This is an official state-wide manhunt now Sheriff. And I am gonna need to set up base where the crime was committed.

Morgan begins to walk pass the two officers as he makes his way towards the back door of the bank.

McMichaels’ distain is expressed to this new development.

MCMICHAELS:

You even gonna ask how much these Bastards stole?

McMichaels asks as Morgan stops in his track with his back still turned.

Morgan turns around and has a look of puzzlement on his face.

MORGAN:

They got away with the score? Even after all this.

SANDERS:

Tellers and other Employees are counting the sum total to 96 million dollars. All stuffed in the cars as they were making their getaway.
