EXT. AMERICA-ARENA-DAY-NEAR FUTURE

A forest inside of an enormous circular arena made completely out of three-feet-thick bullet-proof glass is seen from an open area in the distance. The arena is roughly the size of ten-square-miles and contains mountains and valleys which are covered in tall trees.

The arena is approximately two-thousand-feet high and contains a small waterfall that is fifty-feet high, along with a cabin and a lodge.

INT. ARENA-CENTER-DAY

In the center of the arena are six people who are asleep and are all tied to a boulder by a chain.

BRYAN EDWARDS, a burly man in his early thirties, with short, brown hair and brown eyes, slowly wakes up.

BRYAN:

(Looks around the area) Where are we?

The others wake up too.

VERONICA:

I don’t know.

BRYAN:

Do any of us know each other?

The six people glance at each other. VERONICA CADEN, a female with long brown hair and blue eyes, who’s around Bryan’s age, shakes her head.

VERONICA:

(Downcast)

I don’t think so.

BRYAN:

Good. Then we’re not in one of those games where we fight to the death. But we could be in...

Bryan stops mid-sentence.

One of the four men inside the arena, JACK THOMPSON, glares at him. Jack is a thin and athletic man in his late thirties.

He wears tattoos all over his body (except for his face). He’s dressed in BLACK, which matches his short black hair.

JACK:

(Demands an answer) We could be in WHAT?

BRYAN:

In big trouble. That’s what I’m saying.

JACK:

I don’t understand.

BRYAN:

Well, we’re tied here. That’s not a good start. (Pauses) And I think I know something else.

Now the others all stare at Bryan, looking for an answer.

CURTIS:

(Spits as he yells)

What do you know? Did you bring us here?!

CURTIS BLADE, a man who’s four inches taller than Bryan, standing at six-foot-two, looks to be in a fit of rage.

Bryan shakes his head, and almost laughs.

BRYAN:

No. Not that. (Pauses, asks carefully) Did you each commit a crime?

For a moment, the others seem to be confused, and then a horrible realization comes in.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

Where were you guys last before we found ourselves here?

VERONICA:

I was in jail.

JACK:

(Astonished) Me too!

Also me.

CURTIS:

Bryan peers at the others, who haven’t yet answered his question.

BRYAN:

(To Shaun and Amy) And you two?

SHAUN:

Yes.

AMY:

Same thing. (To Bryan) How about you?

BRYAN:

I was in prison. But I’m innocent. Anyways, I think we might be in that new game. I think it’s called...

JACK:

“Trapped”.

BRYAN:

Yes! It’s been around for a few years. We could be up against anything that tries to kill us.

VERONICA:

But how are you so sure?

Bryan glances around the forest which surrounds both him and the others, and his eyes catch something peculiar that’s located high up inside a tall tree.

He points towards the object.

BRYAN:

Look up there.

The other five peer up at what appears to be a small speaker which is situated behind a group of large leaves inside that tree.

VERONICA:

I see it.

JACK:

Me too. We’re in big trouble.

Just then, the speaker starts up and the six people trapped inside of the arena pay attention to it. They wait before the announcer speaks.

GAME ANNOUNCER:

Welcome to a game called “Survival”. You all have been convicted of crimes and will face wolves inside of this arena for 24 hours. Any survivor will be awarded his or her freedom. Good luck.

The six people look very apprehensive now. Sweat pours down Bryan’s forehead.

BRYAN:

(Says to himself)

Wolves. And no-one’s made it alive out of the first two games.

JACK:

Then we’ll be the first.

VERONICA:

(Weakly)

The competitors of the first game came close to winning.

No-one says a word.

They watch as ten drones fly into the arena after opening its glass roof on top.

Each drone carries with it a wolf.

The wolves come in different colors and sizes: Six are white, three are gray, and one is black. While some are smaller or bigger than others, the black male wolf (the alpha) is by far the largest one out of all of them.

BRYAN:

(Trembles) Here they come.

As the drones lower inside the arena, the restraints around the people’s waists are loosened until the hostages are completely free.

BRYAN (CONT'D)

We need to run now.

Bryan and the others look frantically in every direction.

VERONICA:

But where?

BRYAN:

Anywhere but here.

JACK:

How about, we go north?

Bryan surveys the forest leading up towards the northern section of the arena, and he nods hesitantly.

BRYAN:

Sure. Why not?

JACK:

(Impatiently) Then let’s go.

The others get up to their feet after Bryan does. Veronica wobbles up and Bryan helps her stand.

BRYAN:

Are you ok?

VERONICA:

(Lies) Yeah.

The six contestants race forward towards the northern part of the arena as the drones close in with their wolves into the center of the arena.

BRYAN:

We need to run.

Once the wolves are dropped inside, they begin to charge forward in the direction of the people.

INT. VALLEY-NEAR CENTER OF ARENA-HEADING NORTH-DAY

The people sprint away from the wolves. But soon enough, the wolves catch up to the group. SHAUN DAVIS (African-American male) trips over a rock and gets left behind. And the ten wolves rip him to shreds.

INT. VALLEY-HEADING NORTH-DAY

About fifteen minutes later, Bryan stops in his tracks. The others peer at him, looking confused. What is he doing?

VERONICA:

What are you doing? We need to keep going.

Stop.

BRYAN:

The others, except for Jack, slow down as they reach him.

Jack was in front and now backs up to meet Bryan and the rest of the group.

JACK:

Why are we stopping?

BRYAN:

Because I think they’ve stopped chasing us.

JACK:

(Confused) Why would they?

Bryan surveys the area.

Indeed, there’s no sound of any animal nearby.

BRYAN:

I don’t know. But for now, we’re safe.

JACK:

We’re not safe.

BRYAN:

Compared to before, we are.

JACK:

Wait, what if they come back?

BRYAN:

(Grimly)

Then we are in trouble.

VERONICA:

So what do we do?

BRYAN:

We go scale the mountain to get a vantage point of where the wolves are.

Suddenly, Jack seems to be suspicious of Bryan. He approaches him quickly and looks him right in the eyes. Bryan peers into his eyes without a sign of fear or emotion.

They others appear to be confused by Jack’s sudden advance and his glare.

VERONICA:

(Slightly worried) What are you doing?

JACK:

This guy seems to know everything.

Jack, who’s two inches taller than Bryan, stares down at him menacingly.

Bryan, on the other hand, only seems to be exasperated.

BRYAN:

What do you mean?

JACK:

I mean, how are you such an expert at knowing wolves? You know when to stop and you know how to scout them. What’s going on here?

Veronica approaches Jack, who pushes her out of the way as she’s a lot smaller than both Jack and Bryan.

The others just watch helplessly as Jack continues to go on with his statements.

JACK (CONT'D)

Are you in control of this game? Did you send us here?!

BRYAN:

Of course not.

JACK:

Then why do you know everything?

BRYAN:

Because I’ve been through this situation before. I always used to go hunting for animals, and sometimes, I almost got killed by wolves. So I know how to deal with them.
