Captain – What the hell do you think you’re doing, you’re not here to nurse anyone, now advance.
“F*** you motherf***er, I’ll do what I’ve got to do for my fellow soldier” Mustafa pushes the captain to the ground, in response the captain fires a few round into the air, “move it now Mustafa, or I’ll have you arrested. “So, arrest me you low life sh*t,” the captain orders his military arrest and Mustafa is taken away. Charlie is left defenceless but as luck would have it, the Russiand decide to retreat to minimise their losses.
Charlie – Where is Mustafa, can someone tell me what the hell is going on.
Sarah, a female soldier looks at Charlie “Mustafa is taken to the detention centre in Warsaw” there is a tone of sadness in her voice, “What for” Charlie demands an answer. “For failing to follow order”, She tries to reassure Charlie, that he’ll be released soon, “He’ll be fine Charlie, relax, here have my cigarette” Charlie declines the offer, and walks off, throwing his helmet to the ground. “What’s the matter with him” asks Alan, Alan is a sniper man, long range, “nothings is wrong with him, he’s just pissed that Mustafa was arrested.
Charlie – Nurse I’m here to see my friend Sam.
Nurse – Sam died, from multiple wounds to his chest and neck, he has been sent back to base where he’ll be returned home to his family.
Charlie is now battle scarred and feeling depressed, he is also expected to return to enemy lines.
Captain – Ok listen up everyone, we’ve lost some good men and women last night, but the Russians have re-armed themselves ready to launch their ground and air assault. I don’t want anyone here failing to follow my orders, I’ll repeat, if you fail to follow order, you’ll risk putting the team in extreme danger.
Alan – Have we not been exposed to extreme danger yet captain.
Captain – don’t get funny with me Alan, you’re not all that good a sniper, I’ll have you replaced in a blink of an eye.
Alan – Yes sir.
The team Captain pulls Charlie to one side “Charlie I’d like to have a word with you in private, follow me”, Charlie is taken to the Army head quarter, there he is introduced to the head of military operation, the head of the task force as well as the military lawyer. “Take a seat Charlie” the head of the military operation is Armstrong, a tough man in his mid-fifties, he is seated next to the military Lawyer smoking a Cuban made cigar. “Mustafa died last night in solitary confinement” he says without any sign of sadness.
Charlie – How did that happen, he looked fine when I saw him last
Armstrong – Based on the military medical report, he died of a sudden heart attack
Charlie – Bullshit.
Armstrong – Mind your language, Charlie, unless you want to be confined to a cell.
Cuban cigar smoke is blown towards Charlie, Lee is an experienced Lawyer with a reputation of being ruthless in the court room, he has never lost a case for his clients.
Lee – You see Charlie, we need a witness statement, for record, a statement that Mustafa failed to follow orders, and consequently put his unit into grave danger.
Charlie – I’ll give the statement, here it is, go to hell, you killed Mustafa and now you’re trying to cover your tracks.
Lee – Don’t make your situation worse than it already is Charlie boy, we need a statement, or it’s the end of your career.
Charlie – Mustafa was a valued member of our unit, and that’s how I want him to be remembered, that’s how I want his family to remember him to.
The head of the task force is a six feet muscular man named Gaulle, places Charlie under military arrest, “I don’t think you seem to understand Charlie, that we are getting impatient with you, and we don’t really have time for games, this is the military not you’re five a side game of football” everyone in the room except for Charlie begin to laugh. “This is funny is it” Armstrong looks directly into Charlie’s eye “No it isn’t funny, in fact we are simply amused by your stupidity”, Armstrong smiles, a fake smile that gives Charlie the creeps. Two military police men enter the room on Armstrong’s order, cuff Charlie and escort him to an awaiting military police van.
Military police – Get out sh*t head, this is where you’ll be spending the rest of your time on earth, you’re dead Charlie, you’re dead, you see this piece of paper, it’s official document.
Charlie – Let me see.
Military police – Take it easy Charlie, what’s the matter, feeling home sick, it says Charlie Sims, while serving his country died on the battlefield from a serious explosion from an aircraft missile, his body was never recovered.
Charlie – You sons of b*tches, you’re going to live to regret it, when I get out.
Military police – you’re going nowhere, anytime soon.
Just as the MP said, “anytime soon”, the prison guard closed the prison gates, the sound of the metal bars slamming was like a gun shot, Charlie collapses onto the ground of his cell. Windowless lifeless, empty except for a toilet and sink. This is where Charlie is to spend twenty-three hours of the day, with a single hour to prepare and eat his days food, shower and shave. His contact with his cell mates, are minimal. The war continued to rage on against Russia, two years of battle, and Ukraine was liberated from the Russians, slowly but surely, life returned to normal for Ukraine’s. The U.S president gave his victory speech at central park, where he addressed the American people of the looming war against Russians and its ally Iran.
President Kissinger – Victory at last, victory for our great nation, a victory for liberty, freedom and American values, values on which this great nation was built. The message is clear, that we will not allow injustice of any kind, anywhere in the world to be tolerated. We have once again triumphed over evil, and we thank all those who risked their lives for their countrymen. The American anthem is performed by the Orchestra at central park, the crowd is singing along, overwhelmed with joy, cheering and applauding the president. There are reporters everywhere, camera men taking snap shots of the president, soon Kissinger is driven away in his Limousine. “That was marvellous Mr president” Nixon says with a fake smile on his face, his only ambition is to be elected as president once Kissinger serves his full term at the White House. “Thank you I appreciate that, the crowd responded well, and media has done its job well to, you just make sure it stays that way” he says with a serious look in his face. “You mean keep the true figure of lost lives from the electors.” The president nods approvingly. The War had begun early 2023 April 20th , the war ended 2025 May 5th, on 2043 March 2nd, Charlie is released from prison.
