Budweiser truck, I was fixin’ to stop by. I

tryin’ to play it cool, so ya know, yew

wouldn’t get turned off. Okay? I caint wait

to see ya. Yew still wanna see me?

MELODY RAE:

Yes.

(beat)

Of course, I do.

WILLIE:

Awrat, listen, ahma call ya tomorey, k?

MELODY RAE:

Okay. Thank you.

WILLIE:

Sweet dreams, kid.

Melody Rae hangs up the phone, removes her nice chic outfit and climbs into an oversized, red T-shirt emblazoned with the words “wine is life” on the front and slips into bed pulling the covers over her head.

REVEAL:
Over a six-month period, Willie and Melody Rae drive up to the mountains in his 1975 faded white, pickup truck, spending the evening with his guy pals: duck hunting, four-wheeling, or camping at the lake. Sometimes they would meet up at downtown dive bars, or trendy dance clubs. Melody Rae would be with her friends, and Willie with his and they’d hook up after two o’clock in the morning; either at her apartment, or at a house he shared with four other roommates.

EXT. REDDING, CALIFORNIA – 1:00 a.m.

INT. WILD HORSE SALOON

Willie spies Melody Rae in line at the pub and they play cat and mouse for a while amidst the crowd—seductive eyes at one another; he sniffs her hair, taps her bottom, as he passes her near the bar.

WILLIE:

(breathes in deeply)

Mmm...obsession.

Willie walks on...looking back at her aroused.

WILLIE:

Kid, ya one smokin’ hot thang. Hottest thar

is. Yew could have any guy ya want.

Melody Rae shakes her head, turning red. Moments later he approaches and grabs her hand and guides her to exit the bar, pulling her around the corner of the building, down the street, past a closed antique store to a secluded, dark area where there are shrubs and bushes hiding them from the road. It is foggy and there is a distant glow of dim gray light peering through the bushes from a corner streetlamp. Consequently, anyone who was to walk along the sidewalk could see them. He pushes her up against the building with gruff but libidinous force and then begins to moan while he undresses her evocatively with his eyes. His dominant left hand is caressing the left side of her body while his right hand is cupping the right side of her face. Kissing her passionately with full tongue, he nudges her right leg over with his left so that her leg is tucked under his, and then with his right leg, maneuverers her left leg up and over to swaddle his waist. Then grabbing her bent left leg, he kisses her on the inner side of her knee.

REVEAL:
Slow motion; Melody Rae and Willie strip themselves completely naked. Willie plants her up against the wall. She groans and clutches his body while he grips her head tight in the back and they play into one another’s desires. He slowly kisses her cheek and then pausing at her wet lips delicately kisses her with a sweet softness. And then tenderly kisses her neck and inches down toward her chest, all the while they are breathing and moaning in the same rhythm. Gliding his fingers through her hair and clutching her head in his hand, she grips him with both legs strapped around his waist as he holds her, and they kiss with intense, lustful, and desirous fervor.

An alarmingly loud screeching sound comes from a car peeling around the corner. Melody Rae gasps, drops to her feet and kneels, scrambling to garner her clothes. Willie starts howling with laughter. The car turns into the parking lot near the bushes where they are. They both duck down. Willie puts his hand over her mouth, anticipating she might scream. Although they were well hidden when the irrefutably inebriated fellow steps out of his Mustang convertible and stumbles down the block away from them, Melody Rae quickly covers her body and nervously giggles like a skittish schoolgirl and tosses Willie his clothes. He only puts on his pants, while she hurries to get all articles of clothing on whether inside out or not. After she is fully clothed, she exits the bushes while Willie patiently waits on the sidewalk. A tear trickles down her face.

Melody Rae slowly nods her head as the reality of her non-relationship hits her like a ton of bricks. Interrupting her process, the business phone rings, Kat answers it, while a new client walks in the door.

SALLY:

Hey Melody Rae, how are you? I’ve been so

worried about you. I just didn’t know if

I should call you yet, you know, while

everything’s so fresh.

Sally hugs her hard.

What’s fresh?

SALLY:

No. strangely I haven’t heard from her in

SALLY:

Yeah, she’s fine. But you won’t be when I

tell you what she did.

MELODY RAE:

What did she do?

SALLY:

I so did not want to be the one to tell you.

MELODY RAE:

Just tell me. Please.
