And I didn’t really have anything to go back to, to be honest.

You know, so I was drinking a lot, playing pool, just being stupid, really.

Erm, so the album’s about going back to a black place in my life.

Well, whatever you channelled, it worked.

The album’s number one around the world, and it’s the highest charting album

from a British female artist in the US ever.

Yeah, I got some good songs out of it.

I don’t write songs to be famous, d’you know what I mean?

I’d don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t.

I’ve got to make something good out of something bad.
