Annie points out that they've been getting along lately.

ANNIE BALTIC:
(understandingly) Okay, we can keep it a secret between me and you. Deal?

BADER:
(gratefully) Deal.

Sure! Here's the scene:

Caleb Reynolds and Annie Baltic found out about the party through the camera pictures. Annie confronted Bader and said, "I thought it was a band rehearsal." Slim Z asked Bader, "You told her?" Bader replied, "No."

Caleb Reynolds noticed that the bathroom door didn't have a lock and said, "That's why. I thought they were trying to lose my mind." He turned to his guests and said, "I'm going upstairs to a bathroom that has a lock on it. And don't you dare tell me that it doesn't."

The scene cuts to Bader and Slim Z on the stairs, and Annie and Caleb standing in front of them. Annie said, "We are very disappointed in both of you. I can't believe you had a party without our permission."

Slim Z said, "I just wanted to have some fun."

But Caleb Reynolds interrupted him, screaming, "Zip it!"

Annie turned to Bader and Slim Z and said, "You both are grounded for two weeks, and you will be staying at the nursing home where my father lives. Now pack your stuff and go."

Slim Z and Bader went upstairs. Slim Z whispered to Bader, "You are so dead."

Annie and Caleb were very disappointed in Slim Z and Bader for throwing the party without their permission. As punishment, they grounded the boys and sent them both to a nursing home to stay with annie Baltic’s father for a two weeks.

When Slim Z and Bader first arrived at the nursing home, they were nervous and unsure of what to expect. They were introduced to the residents and the staff, and then shown around the facilities.

As they were helping serve breakfast to the residents, one of the old people started to tell a joke:

Resident:
“Why did the tomato turn red? Because it saw the salad dressing!”

Everyone laughed, including Slim Z and Bader. Slim Z laughed so hard that he spit his milk on purpose, which landed on Bader’s shirt.

Bader:
“Dude, why did you do that? Now I have milk all over me!”

Slim Z:
(sarcastically)“I’m sorry, man. That joke was just too funny.”

Bader rolled his eyes and wiped the milk off his shirt. The two boys continued to help serve breakfast, chat with the residents and help out with the activities in the nursing home.

One day at the nursing home, Slim Z was bored and looking for something to do. He noticed that Bader had left his journal out on a nearby table, so he picked it up and started to read it.

As Slim Z read through the journal, he came across some entries that mentioned him and their fights in detail. He started to feel bad, realizing how hurt Bader must have been during those times.

Bader walked over to Slim Z, who was still reading the diary, and saw what he was doing.

Bader:
“Hey, why are you reading my journal? That’s private!”

Slim Z:
“Wow, I never knew you felt this way about me. Maybe I should show this to Everleigh.”

Bader:
“What?! No, don’t show her that! Just give it back to me!”

Slim Z:
“Why not? She deserves to know how you really feel about me.”

Bader was panicking now, realizing that he never should have left his journal out in the open. He started chasing Slim Z, trying to get the journal back.

Bader:
“Give it back, Slim! You have no right to read that!”

Slim Z:
“Well, it’s too late now. You should have kept it somewhere safe.”

Bader:
“Please, Slim. I’m begging you. Don’t show anyone that journal

Bader manages to get the journal back but he needed to clear his head and get away from Slim Z, so he ran into a nearby room to hide. But as he was looking around, he noticed that he was in the ladies’ room for the old ladies and he regrets

BADER:

I’m in the ladies?

Bader peeping through the hole at the door

Until the old lady’s eye appears

BADER:

Ahhh

Old lady:
You’re a peeping Tom!

(Bader backs away slowly, trying to leave the bathroom. As he does, another old lady enters the room and screams when she sees him.)

Bader:
Ahh! Sorry, sorry.

(He quickly crawls out the door on his hands and knees, leaving the diary behind. The old ladies continue to berate him as he runs away.)

Old lady:
Come back here, you pervert!

(Scene cuts to one week later. Bader and Slim Z are outside of their house, carrying their bags from the nursing home.)

Slim:
(sighing) Finally, we’re home.

Bader:
(nervously) Yeah, it’s good to be back.

Slim:
You look worried. What’s wrong?

Bader:
(shifting his weight) It’s nothing.

Slim:
(not buying it) Come on, Bader. You can tell me.

Bader:
(flustered) It’s just that…I’m worried about my diary. After what happened at the nursing home, I’m afraid Slim might tell Everleigh what was in it.

Slim:
(shocked) What? I’m not going to do that, Bader. I promise.

Bader:
(doubtful) How can I trust you?

Slim:
(earnestly) Listen, Bader. I know I messed up at the nursing home, but I’m not going to betray your trust like that. Your secrets are safe with me, okay?

(Bader relaxes, visibly relieved.)

Bader:
(smiling) Thanks, Slim. You’re a good friend.

Slim:
(grinning) Always, bro.

(They continue walking towards the house, laughing and joking around. As they approach the front door, Bader’s phone starts ringing. He looks at the caller ID and groans.)

Bader:
(answering) Hello?

Voice on phone:
Hi, Bader. This is Everleigh. How are you doing?

Bader:
(sighing) I’m fine, thanks for asking.

Everleigh:
I was just calling to see if you wanted to hang out later. Maybe we could watch a movie or something.

Bader:
(nervously) Um, I don’t know…

Slim:
(whispering) Just say yes, man!

Bader:
(resigned) Okay, sure. Sounds great.

Everleigh:
Awesome! I’ll see you in a little bit.

Bader:
(hanging up) Why did I agree to that?

Slim:
(laughing) Because you’re a sucker for a pretty face, that’s why.

(They enter the house, still laughing and joking around, but the tension from the phone call lingers in the air.)

(Scene opens with Bader and Slim Z hanging out in their room, watching TV. Slim Z turns off the TV and turns to Bader.)

Slim Z:
“Hey, Bader. It’s about time I told you some secrets to an easier life.”

Bader:
“What do you mean, Slim?”

Slim Z:
“I mean, you’re my little bro and you’re just starting out in life. There are some things you need to know if you want things to go smoothly.”

Bader:
“Okay, I’m listening.”

Slim Z:
“Rule number one: don’t be good at something you don’t want to do. If you’re good at something that you hate doing, people will ask you to do it again and again. So, if there’s something you don’t want to do, don’t be too good at it.”

Bader:
“That’s interesting. I never thought of it that way.”

Slim Z:
“Rule number two: always lower Annie and Caleb’s expectations. They’re good people, but they have high expectations. If you lower their expectations, you’ll always surprise them positively.”
