BADER:
I can’t believe it. School isn’t out yet maybe we should come back.

SLIM Z:
How about never? Does never sound good?

ANNIE BALTIC:
Boys, a family swim is a perfect way to kick off the summer.

CALEB REYNOLDS:
Let’s not forget, opening day is free.

BADER:
(excitedly) Free? Really?

Bader and Slim Z both look at Annie Baltic and Caleb Reynolds, the babysitters.

CALEB:
Yeah, swimming sounds great.

SLIM Z:
(sarcastically) Oh boy, I can hardly contain my excitement.

ANNIE BALTIC:
Oh come on, Slim Z, it’ll be fun.

BADER:
Yeah, and Everleigh and Caleb J are coming too.

Annie and Caleb exchange glances.

SHAIKHA:

Hey bader

Bader goes into the pool

BADER:

The scene transitions to an animated sequence where Bader, Slim Z, Shaikha, Everleigh, Caleb Johnston , Annie Baltic, and Caleb Reynolds are all shown riding an inflatable tube down a twisting water slide, laughing and cheering. The sky is bright blue and filled with fluffy clouds.

As they exit the slide, they are shown splashing into an Olympic-sized swimming pool with other families cheering and having fun around them. Bader is shown doing a cannonball, Slim Z looks frustrated and annoyed, Shaikha giggles, and Everleigh and Caleb Johnston splash around excitedly. Annie Baltic and Caleb Reynolds are shown relaxing in lounge chairs, sipping on drinks.

Suddenly, the animated sequence ends and the title card appears: “BADER ZAMALANO 3: SUMMER VACATION”

INT. BADER’S BEDROOM - DAY

The camera shows Bader sitting on his bed surrounded by a notebook-style drawing of his room. The walls are covered in colorful doodles, posters, and collages. Bader is holding a pen and flipping through a notebook.

BADER:
(addressing the camera) Hey, it’s Bader, and I’m here to talk about summer.

Bader pauses and looks down at his notebook, flipping through the pages.

BADER:
(cont’d) Summer is pretty great, isn’t it? No school, no homework, no tests. (pauses) But it’s not all fun and games.

Bader looks up at the camera and shrugs.

BADER:
(cont’d) Unless you’re me, of course. (smirks)

The camera zooms in on Bader as he flips to a page in his notebook labeled “Summer Goals.” The page is filled with drawings and lists of things he wants to do over the summer.

BADER:
(excitedly) Check it out, I made a list of things I want to do this summer. (holds up notebook)

The camera zooms in on the page, which reads:

•Go to the beach

•Have a water balloon fight

•Watch every movie in the “Star Wars” series

•Learn to skateboard

•Sleep in a tent in the backyard

Bader looks up at the camera again.

BADER:
(cont’d) So far, I’ve already been to the beach, had a water balloon fight, and watched all the “Star Wars” movies. (smirks) But I still need to learn to skateboard and sleep in a tent in the backyard.

The camera zooms out to show Bader sitting on his bed, surrounded by his colorful room.

BADER:
(cont’d) I’m thinking my backyard camping adventure is going to happen this weekend. (pauses) Anyway, that’s it for now. Thanks for listening to me ramble about summer.

Bader looks down at his notebook and starts doodling again as the camera fades out.

INT. ZAMALANO LIVING ROOM - DAY

The entire Zamalano family is gathered in the living room, looking at a picture of a cute cat on their computer screen.

SHAIKHA:
(excitedly) Can we get a kitty, please?

BADER:
(nodding) Yeah, can we? Please?

SLIM Z:
(rolling his eyes) Do we really need another thing to take care of?

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(defending) But a cat would be so much fun!

ANNIE BALTIC:
(smiling) I think having a cat would be great for you kids. It would give you something to take care of and teach you responsibility.

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(agreeing) Plus, cats are the best.

The babysitters exchange a look and finally nod their heads in agreement.

ANNIE BALTIC:
Alright, we can get a cat. But we have to make sure we can take care of it properly.

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(suggesting) How about we go to the animal shelter and see if there’s a cat that needs a home?

SHAIKHA:
(excitedly) Yay! Let’s go!

BADER:
(looking at cat picture) I can’t wait to have a new friend.

SLIM Z:
(shrugging) Fine, let’s go.

BADER, SHAIKHA, and ANNIE all cheer and hug each other as the family leaves to go to the animal shelter.

ANNIE BALTIC:
(pointing) What about that one?

The camera shows a scruffy, red dyed cat wagging its tail and looking up at the family with big, pleading eyes.

ANNIE BALTIC:
(smiling) he seems like a furball.

BADER:
(nodding) Yeah,he’s definitely a Furball

SLIM Z:
(smirking) Great name.

PET SHOP OWNER:
(laughing) What’s wrong with Furball?

ANNIE BALTIC:
(agreeing) I think it’s a perfect name for him.

SHAIKHA:
(excitedly) Can we take him home now?

The animal shelter worker nods and opens the cage door. The cat jumps out and starts hugging the family’s faces.

ANNIE BALTIC:
(laughing) I think he likes us.

SLIM Z:
(smiling) Well, he’s stuck with us now.

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(petting the cat) Welcome to the family, Furball.

The rest of the family agrees, and they all take turns petting and hugging the new cat.

SLIM Z:
(placing the bowl on the counter) I got a bowl for furball.

Caleb Reynolds walks into the kitchen.

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(peering at the bowl) “burfall?”

Slim Z looks confused and squints at the bowl.

SLIM Z:
(re-reading the bowl) I’m pretty sure it says “furball.”

CALEB REYNOLDS:
(laughing) Sorry, man. I thought it said “burfall.”

Slim Z rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

SLIM Z:
(smiling) It’s all good.

The camera shows furball walking into the kitchen and playing

SLIM Z:
(calling to furball) Here you go, boy. Enjoy your brand new bowl.

CALEB:
(smiling) It’s a nice bowl, Slim Z.

ANNIE BALTIC :
(nodding in agreement) Yes, thank you.

SHAIKHA:
(giggling) burfall. (giggles again)

EVERLEIGH:
(grinning) That’s a funny name for a bowl.

The rest of the family agrees and laughs along.

Slim Z looks at the bowl one more time and then shrugs.

SLIM Z:
(smirking) Hey, if furball doesn’t mind having a “burfall” bowl, I don’t mind either.

Everyone laughs and the camera shows furball happily eating out of his new bowl.
