INT. BADER'S ROOM - MORNING
Bader, a 16-year-old boy with a charismatic smile, stands in front of a camera. The room around him is drawn like a sketch in a notebook.
BADER:
(looking at the camera) Hey there, folks! Welcome to the brand new year of school. Let me tell you, high school seemed like it was going to be a step up from elementary and middle school, but turns out, being in high school doesn't make you any less of a loser.He smirks and chuckles, self-deprecatingly.
BADER:
(continuing) Now, don't get me wrong, I've got some amazing friends like Caleb Johnston and Everleigh Labrant. But truth be told, I haven't seen them all summer. I wasn’t concerned but all they could’ve done is beat the crash bandicoot gamesHe rolls his eyes, shaking his head.
BADER:
(CONT'D) slim Z is still a pain in my butt And he still makes rap music that are so trash .INT. BADER'S BEDROOM - MORNING
Bader wakes up to the sound of a sweet and cheerful voice.
ANNIE BALTIC (36), Bader's caring Legal guardian.
ANNIE:
(cheerfully) Good morning, sleepyhead!Bader groggily sits up, rubbing his eyes.
BADER:
(mumbling) Morning, Annie.Suddenly, the sound of drumming fills the room.
SLIM Z (24), Bader's older brother bursts into the room, holding drumsticks.
SLIM Z:
(teasingly) Good morning, losers!ANNIE:
(scolding) Slim Z, no drumming inside the house!Caleb Reynolds (37), another babysitter, enters with a cup of coffee.
CALEB REYNOLDS:
(nonchalantly) Mornin', everyone.Before anyone can react, Bader's younger sister, Shaikha (14), sneaks up behind Annie, scaring her.
SHAIKHA:
(laughing) Gotcha, Annie!INT. HARTLANE HIGH SCHOOL - HALLWAY - DAY
Bader enters the bustling hallway, looking around for his friends. Suddenly, he spots Caleb Johnston and Everleigh Labrant from a distance.
BADER:
(excitedly) Caleb! Everleigh!Caleb and Everleigh turn around, their faces lighting up with joy.
CALEB:
(hugging Bader) Bader, dude! It's been way too long!EVERLEIGH; (grinning) Seriously, Bader. We've missed you!
INT. CORLEONE HIGH SCHOOL - CLASSROOM - DAY
Tashi Anderson, a confident and sassy girl, approaches Bader,
BADER:
(V.O.) Ah, Tashi Anderson. The bane of my existence. She’s been picking on me since we were five But after we graduated from elementary school she is now in my face.TASHI:
(smirking) Well, well, well, if it isn't My favorite loser.BADER:
(happy) Tashi, How’s it going still making people miserable, huh?INT. HARTLANE HIGH SCHOOL - CAFETERIA - DAY
Bader, Caleb, and Everleigh reunite with their old friends Scott (JASON MAYBAUM) and Henry (MASON THAMES) at a crowded table.
Bader:
(excitedly) Scott! Henry! It's been ages! How are you guys?Scott:
(enthusiastically) Bader, Caleb, Everleigh! Great to see you all! We're doing alright, just navigating high school life.Henry:
(nerdily) Yeah, it's been a more intimidating experience than I anticipated, to be honest.Bader:
(jokingly) Well, we're here to make high school a little less intimidating for you, Henry. Remember when we used to stick together in elementary?Henry:
(smiling) Oh, how could I forget? You guys were my saving grace in those days.As they reminisce, Tashi suddenly appears,.
Tashi:
(sarcastically) Well, well, well, if it isn't My favorite losers Who just so happens to be my friends.A flashback where it took place in the fourth grade where Tashi beats up bader
Bader:
(Voiceover) in fourth grade I had a fight with Tashi she beat me so bad that I have to take the underground railroad homeBader's face tenses up as he glances at Caleb and Everleigh, exchanging a knowing look.
Bader:
(defiantly) Tashi, you never cease to amaze me with your insults. But hey, guess what? I don't care anymore.Everleigh:
(concerned) Boys, let's remember we don't resort to violence, okay?Bader:
(agitated) Shut up, Everleigh! This has gone on long enough. I’m just playing with you guysCaleb:
(supportive) Good luck, bro. We'll be right there with you.EXT. HARTLANE HIGH SCHOOL - AFTER SCHOOL - OUTSIDE - DAY
Bader, Caleb, and Everleigh meet up outside the school gates.
Caleb:
(nervously) Dude, this is crazy. Are you sure you want to go through with this?Bader:
(determined) Caleb, it's time to stand up for myself. I can't let her keep tormenting me like this.Everleigh:
(worried) Remember what happened last time when you tried to confront Tashi, Bader. It didn't end well.Bader:
(gritting his teeth) Don't worry, Everleigh. This time, it's going to be different. She won't know what hit her.Tashi appears, smirking confidently.
Tashi:
(happy) What are you waiting for, Bestie?After some time, Principal Dr. Raymond (elementary principal now the high school principal) arrives at the scene, interrupting the fight.
Dr. Raymond:
(disappointed) You kids never learn, do you? Fighting in school is not the way to handle your problems. This behavior will not be tolerated.Bader, Tashi, Caleb, and Everleigh stand before Dr. Raymond, realizing the consequences of their actions.
Fade out.
They are interrupted by the sound of commotion coming from the principal's office.
INT. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Principal Dr. Raymond is seen eating fried chicken at his desk, when suddenly, he clutches his chest and collapses on the floor.
Bader, Tashi, and the group rush into the office and find Dr. Raymond lying on the ground.
BADER:
(Concerned) Oh no! Dr. Raymond!EVERLEIGH:
We need to call for help! Someone dial 911!They call for an ambulance, but it's too late. Dr. Raymond passes away.
EXT. CEMETERY - DAY
Bader, Caleb, Everleigh, Scott, Henry, and many other students are dressed in black, attending Dr. Raymond's funeral.
BADER:
(Whispering) I can't believe my elementary school principal is gone. It feels surreal.CALEB:
(Whispering) I need spray spray.Bader, frustrated, turns to Caleb.
BADER:
(In anger) Caleb, now is not the time for your Jokes just show respect for the dead! Or you know what? Just go wait in the car.Slim z (off-screen) interrupts the moment.
SLIM Z:
Bader, did you hear that? Caleb still says "I need spray spray."BADER:
(Defensive) Shut up, Slim Z. He's just trying to make me feel better, okay?Bader turns to Slim Z and addresses him.
BADER:
(With curiosity) Slim Z? What's that advice you were talking about?SLIM Z:
(Smiling) I know losing your old school principal can be tough, but I've got something that might help. Slim Z's Guide on Advice.Slim Z hands Bader his book, and Bader eagerly opens it, ready to try out the advice.
The song "Minute" by E7i starts playing as Bader embarks on his journey to navigate high school with Slim Z's guidance.
INT. BADER’S LIVING ROOM - DAY
Bader stands alone in his living room, a mischievous smile on his face. The sound of laughter and chatter can be heard in the background.
