INT. Bader's House - Day

The episode opens up with Bader, Shaikha, and Caleb Johnston sitting on the couch watching TV. Annie is in the kitchen cooking, and Slim Z is sitting at the kitchen table doing his schoolwork.

Slim Z:
(sighs) Annie, can I take a break from my schoolwork and watch TV too?

Annie:
No, Slim Z. You have to finish your work first, and then you can watch TV.

Slim Z:
But that's not fair. Bader and Shaikha don't have to do anything, and they get to watch TV all day.

Annie:
(firmly) Slim Z, you need to do your share of the household chores. You're the oldest, and you should set an example for your siblings.

Slim Z:
I'm tired of doing everything around here. It's not my job to clean up after Bader and Shaikha all the time.

Annie:
That's enough, Slim Z. You know the rules.

(Scene switches to Mr. Omar's house)

Mr. Omar:
(coughs) I can't believe this is happening to me.

Caleb Reynolds:
(concerned) Mr. Omar, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?

Mr. Omar:
No, no. I'm fine. I just had a scare. When you get to be my age, you start to think about your mortality.

Caleb Reynolds:
(reassuring) Don't worry, Mr. Omar. You're a tough guy. You'll pull through this.

(Scene switches back to Bader's house)

In Annie's fantasy, Annie sees Slim Z going crazy and throwing dishes. Caleb Reynolds is wearing an army outfit and asks her what's going on.

Annie:
(distressed) Slim Z won't do what I told him.

Slim Z is then shown holding a plate saying he will do the dishes and throws it at the car. He is also shown scrubbing a pot furiously and throwing it while screaming.

(Scene switches back to Bader's house)

INT. BADER'S KITCHEN - MORNING

Slim Z is cooking breakfast while Bader and Shaikha watch TV.

ANNIE:
(walks into the kitchen) Slim Z, what are you doing?

SLIM Z:
(flips the eggs in the skillet) I’m cooking breakfast.

ANNIE:
(notices the skillet) With my eggs?

SLIM Z:
(holds up the egg carton) I bought the eggs.

ANNIE:
But you ain't buy that skillet, or the fire, or the spatula, or the plate.

SLIM Z:
(sarcastically) Next time I'll remember to buy a paper plate.

ANNIE:
(getting upset) Next time? No, next time you need to remember this ain't your kitchen, this ain't your stove, this ain't your floor, and these ain't your frozen gizzards.

SLIM Z:
(throws down the spatula) If you say none of this is mine one more time, I will smack the black out of you.

ANNIE:
(gets mad) You guys can see that he's jumping back now. Listen, just go upstairs to your room and wait for Caleb Reynolds.

SLIM Z:
(fuming) Fine!

Slim Z storms off and heads to his room.

BADER:
(voiceover as Slim Z walks away) In our house, "wait for Caleb Reynolds" meant someone is getting a whooping. Caleb took his whoopings very seriously. He had a belt for every infraction.

There was a lying belt, a stealing belt, a lying and stealing belt, a got-somebody-pregnant belt, and the worst was the doing-drugs belt.

Slim Z sits in his room and waits for Caleb Reynolds to arrive.

CALEB:
(knocks on the door) Slim Z, I'm here.

SLIM Z:
(opens the door) Look, Annie is always nagging me. I can't take it anymore.

CALEB:
(sighs) Slim Z, you need to apologize to Annie.

SLIM Z:
(pauses) Okay, but she needs to stop nagging me all the time.

CALEB:
(puts his hand on Slim Z's shoulder) It's not about who's right or wrong. It's about being respectful to each other. Let's go talk to her.

Flashback to earlier when Caleb Reynolds talk to Annie about what happened

Caleb Reynolds:
do you know what the words “too far” mean?

Narrator bader:
actually she didn’t

Caleb Reynolds:
You cuttin' the boy's arm off for stickin' his finger in the fan.

annie:
off his arm? I don't get it. So, am I the fan?

Everliegh:
I'm pretty sure Slim z is the arm.

bader:
No, I think the arm is the arm.

annie:
slim Z is the boy.

Caleb Reynolds:
Yeah, slim z is the boy. Look, stickin' his finger in the fan is just the equivalent of doin' something stupid.

Caleb Johnston:
Like talkin' back to annie.

Caleb Reynolds:
Right.

everliegh:
So cuttin' the arm off is Sending him to his room?

Caleb Reynolds:
Exactly.

annie:
So, if he stuck his finger in the fan and I didn't like it, cuttin' his arm off so he wouldn't do it again [along with Caleb Reynolds] wouldn't help.

Caleb Reynolds:
it’s Saturday maybe slim Z went into his room just to cool off

In the Present

Slim Z takes a deep breath and follows Caleb back to the kitchen.

Slim z apologizes to Annie

SLIM Z:
Annie I’m sorry about everything

ANNIE:
that’s OK

Annie hugs slim z while bader is playing video games while smiling a Slim Z
