SEASON 01 - EPISODE 01
Curse of the Heart
EXT.DARK-WOODS-NIGHT.
Night ,has fallen. The sky is as dark as ink, with the moon barely visible behind thick clouds. The air is cold, carrying with it the damp smell of trees and rocks. The forest is dense, with tangled branches that seem to reach out, ready to grab anyone daring to pass through. There's no sound except for the distant howling of wolves, echoing in the distance like a warning, and the occasional hoot of an owl, though it remains unseen. Darkness covers everything, and the dim light reveals only the uneven, root-covered path.
EXT.DARK-WOODS-NIGHT.
Suddenly, a man in his late twenties emerges from the trees, sprinting at full speed, his breath ragged and his voice catching in his throat. His clothes are torn, and his shirt is stained with blood. He looks over his shoulder in fear, his wide eyes filled with panic, as if fleeing from an unseen terror. His footsteps are heavy, but he doesn't stop.
MAN:
(speaking to himself, voice trembling)
(anxiously)
What... what is that thing? Impossible! This isn't human... not even an animal!
He gasps for breath, glancing around cautiously.
MAN:
It's the first time I've seen it... no, I can't keep going like this!
He swallows hard, his hand trembling as he presses down on the wound in his chest.
MAN:
It was close... too close! How did I get away? No way I'm stopping... no way I'm letting it catch me.
EXT.DARK-WOODS-NIGHT
The wind howls, and the trees sway ominously. A man stands alone in the middle of the forest, gazing up at the sky. Suddenly, a massive creature appears on the horizon, resembling a bat in size but with crocodile eyes and lion-like fangs. The creature roars deeply and lands before the man.
MAN:
(Voice trembling, but trying to act brave)
"I won't run again... I've spent my life running. This time, I'll face my fate.
The man takes a deep breath, standing firm, his eyes locked on the creature that slowly approaches him, its large wings making unsettling noises.
The creature Lets out a thunderous roar before grabbing the man with its massive claws, lifting him into the air. The man struggles but is powerless against the creature's strength.
As the creature flies higher into the sky, it moves its huge mouth closer to the man's head. Suddenly, with its lion-like teeth, it bites off the man's head and swallows it whole. The man's headless body dangles from the creature's claws as the scene becomes blurrier as it flies further into the night sky.
FADE TO BLACK:
The scene is black
FADE IN:
INT. BEDROOM – MORNING
The room is simple and ordinary, with white walls and modest furniture. A large bed sits in the middle, its sheets scattered and messy, clothes thrown haphazardly on the floor after a passionate night. Soft sunlight seeps gently through the half-closed curtains.
The couple lies in bed, asleep. The wife is nestled against her husband, her arm draped gently over him, her head resting on his chest, while his arm holds her close. Their breathing is synchronized and peaceful, reflecting the comfort and calm they find in each other's embrace.
Time passes quietly, until the sound of an alarm clock breaks the silence. Its not loud enough to wake them immediately. The alarm continues to ring, but the room remains serene.
After a few moments, the wife speaks softly, her voice thick with sleep.
WIFE:
(Whispering, tired)
Turn it off... It's Saturday morning...
The husband stirs slowly, still drowsy, reaching out to silence the alarm. He then returns to hold her again.
The quiet returns to the room as the couple enjoys the last peaceful moments of their serene morning.
Joe rises from the bed, revealing his tall, muscular frame, wearing only black boxers. He moves over to his sleeping wife and gently kisses her forehead. While searching for his pants, he says:
JOE:
(calmly and confidently)
Time to get to work... where did I put my pants?
After a few moments of searching, he finds them and slips them on. At that moment, his wife opens her eyes, trying to cover herself with the bed covers.
WIFE:
(sleepily smiling)
That was the most romantic night... I enjoyed your skills, as always."
laughing softly while buttoning up his military shirt
JOE:
Haven't lost my touch yet.
He takes his gun and holsters it, giving his wife a kiss on her forehead before heading to the door.
JOE:
See you later.
The camera follows him from behind as he walks down the hallway toward the first floor.
INT. HALLWAY - DESCENDING TO THE FIRST FLOOR- MORNING.
The camera follows Joe from behind as he descends the stairs with steady steps and reaches the first floor. He enters the living room, where we see his five-year-old son "Jackie" sitting in front of the TV, watching a cartoon show.
Living Room A spacious room with simple décor, a brown couch in the center, a wooden table with some books, and a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. The lighting is soft from a large window covering half the wall, giving the space a calm atmosphere.
The kitchen is visible from the living room, with an open space, white marble counters, and a modern oven in the corner.
JOE:
(smiling as he passes Jackie)
What are you watching, little man?
JACKIE:
(without looking at his dad)
Ninjas!
Joe chuckles softly as he heads toward the kitchen.
INT.THE KITCHEN- - MORNING.
Joe stands quietly by the stove, boiling water to prepare eggs. Next to him, some bacon sizzles in a pan. A carton of cow's milk sits on the table near an empty plate. The kitchen is completely still, with only the sound of bacon crackling on the fire. Joe picks up the boiled eggs and places them on the plate, adds the bacon, and pours the milk into a glass.
He sits at the table, calmly watching his son Jackie in the living room, engrossed in the TV. Joe eats slowly, each bite deliberate, as if the world has paused, leaving only him, his son, and the peaceful quiet that fills the house.
Just then, Joe's phone rings. He reaches for it hesitantly and puts it to his ear.
JOE:
(in a low voice)
Yes? Jenny
JENNY (O.V)
Joe, we need you at the station immediately. Several bodies were found murdered at the station.
Joe's eyes narrow as he processes what she's saying.
JOE:
How? When?
JENNY(O.V)
An hour ago, some workers found them. You need to come, it's not looking good.
Joe puts down his fork and glances at the clock.
JOE:
(seriously)
I'll be there in minutes.
Joe hangs up the phone and quickly rises from the table. He takes one last look at his son before heading to the door, grabbing his coat.
with a small smile, saying goodbye to his son
JOE:
See you later, Jackie. Be good.
smiling innocently, still focused on the TV.
JACKIE:
Bye, Dad.
Joe walks out of the house briskly, heading towards his car.
INT.INSIDE THE SMALL POLICE STATION- MORNING.
The station is small and quiet, with only three desks. The atmosphere feels slightly oppressive, with weak natural light filtering through small windows. There's an old wooden sign behind the reception desk, reflecting the simplicity of the place.
Joe's Desk A relatively large desk, cluttered with neatly organized files, giving off a serious vibe. There are some family photos on the corner, and a sturdy brown leather chair that reflects his military background. On the wall behind.
his desk, an old gun is mounted as a keepsake.
Jenny's Desk A small, simple desk near a tiny window. It holds neatly arranged files, a laptop, and a few sticky notes scattered on the screen. There's a half-empty coffee cup, hinting at her hesitancy and stress in the job.
Khaled Desk A bit more chaotic, littered with cigarette butts and an old coffee cup. Khaled sits back relaxed in his chair, feet propped up on the desk, a cigarette between his fingers. His desk reflects his calm, indifferent demeanor, despite the current situation.
Jenny, short and beautiful, paces back and forth nervously, her tied-up hair bouncing with each step.
Khaled, dark-skinned like someone from the Arab East, sits calmly, smoking his cigarette and sipping his coffee occasionally.
JENNY:
(anxious and stressed)
How can you be so calm? There are dead bodies downstairs, and you're just sitting here smoking like nothing happening!
Khaled raises his eyes toward her coolly, slowly exhaling smoke.
KHALED:
(with a slight smile)
I've seen worse... In this town, nothing surprises me anymore.
