Henry finds that he is at ease with Sarah, and that he is also attracted to her.

Henry – How long have you been dancing.

Sarah – Since I was a little girl.

Henry – I’m very impressed.

Sarah – Are you coming back next week.

Henry – I think I will.

Henry decides he needs to get his life back on track, he felt a sudden sense of confidence from the classes. He finds himself work in a small account’s office, doing basic administration work.

Mr Ellis – Henry, it’s getting a little late, you can go home now, I’m happy with your probation period. You can work on a permanent basis if you like.

Henry – Thank you, I think I would like that, I’m more than happy to.

Mr EllisWelcome aboard.

Henry leaves the office feeling relieved, suddenly he remembers he has an appointment with Doctor Helen

Doctor Helen – Tell me Henry, what has happened, since the last time we spoke.

Henry – I’m feeling a lot better now I guess; I’ve found a small one-bedroom apartment and employment as an account’s administrator.

Doctor Helen – That is great, how about the dance class.

Henry – I’ve been going regularly; I made a few friends.

Doctor Helen – Excellent, I think you are on road to recovery.

Sarah – I’m seeing a dancer in you Henry.

Henry – I was thinking, are you free this evening.

Sarah – Why do you ask, are you asking me out on a date.

Henry – Yes, I am, how about it.

Sarah – I’ll think about it, I can’t tonight.

Henry – Ok, I’ll ask some other time, can I walk you to the train station.

Sarah – Sure, I could do with a little company.

Henry – Tell me a little about yourself.

Sarah – What would you like to know about me.

Henry – I don’t know, are you married.

Sarah – Ha, ha, ha, no is the short answer to that, how about you, are you married.

Henry – I was, I’m now divorced, a divorced father with two kids.

Sarah – I’m sorry to hear that, well my train has arrived, same time next week.

Henry – Ok, good night.

Henry makes his way into a flower store and buys Sarah a bunch of flowers, he notices the bus arriving and runs to catch it.

Mr Ellis -who have you bought those roses for.

Henry – Oh, a certain someone, I’ll be seeing at the end of my work today.

Mr Ellis – You’re taking her out tonight.

Henry – I hope so, I plan to.

Mr Ellis – Ok, well good luck and bring back some good luck with you tomorrow.

Henry waits for the right moment to surprise Sarah with the bunch of flowers he has bought her. Henry takes in a deep breath like he has been under water for a minute, slowly extends his arms forward with a smile on his face.

Sarah – Are those for me, they are very pretty.

Henry – How about we go to my special place, the Italian Pizza House.

Sarah – Why not.

Henry – Tell me about yourself, how come you never married.

Sarah – I guess I never found the right person, always wanted to be a dancer, I met a lot of different men, non-interested me.

Henry – Except me.

Sarah – What makes you think I’m interested in you, it’s a joke, no, the truth is, I was married, but we separated the moment he found out that I was unable to have a child, it is a rare medical condition, it affects two per cent of women in America.

Henry – I’m sorry to hear that, you can have one of mine, the little one, she’s only four.

Sarah – Very funny, you know it’s getting a little late, I think I’d like to head back home.

A week later.

Hana- I guess they are getting back together.

Sam – Who are we talking about.

Clare – I think she’s talking about Sarah, I also saw her with her ex-husband yesterday.

Henry – I hope I’m not interrupting the conversation.

Clare – We were just talking about Sarah, she’s back with her ex-husband.

Sam – I don’t know why; he was really shitty to her. I’d see bruises on her arms some days when she was teaching.

Henry is left confused and hurt.

Sarah – Ok everyone back to the beginning, we need to get the steps right.

Henry spends time walking aimlessly down the badly lit street before he walks into a bar, to drown his sorrows again. He lights up a cigarette, his last, orders brandy and tries to forget everything. A week later he calls Doctor Helen again.

Doctor Helen – It’s not the end of the world Henry, look how much your life has changed. You’re off the alcohol, you’ve found a job and somewhere to live, and your kids are seeing their dad again.

Henry – I know you are right, I still feel that I deserve better, I’m not talking about Sarah, just in general.

Henry starts his usual daily routine, has his breakfast, reads the online news, has a shower and shave, makes his way back to the office.

Mr Ellis – Henry, you need to hand the accounts detail in by the end of the evening.

Henry – I’m working on it; I’ll have it printed and on your desk by closing time today.

Henry turns up to his dance class acting that everything is fine, he'd make minimal eye contact with Sarah and went about his dance routine. He was determined not to let his childlike romantic fantasy get the better of him.

Sarah – Henry, I wanted to have a word with you, I couldn’t the other day with everyone around.

Henry – Is it about your husband, or ex-husband.

Sarah – That’s right, I’m sorry, I didn’t plan to get back with him or to lead you on, it just happened.

Henry – Never mind, I’ve gone through worse, but why, you said he was terrible to you.

Sarah – I don’t know why myself; will I see you next week at the dance studio.

Henry – Sure, can I walk you to the train station, no I’m just kidding.

Sarah – Good night, Henry.

The train arrives, Sarah steps on board. Six months on, Henry gets a job promotion, sees his children every day.

Sarah – Hello, I found your number, I haven’t seen you in our dance classes for months, where have you been.

Henry – I thought I’d cause you and myself problem if I were to attend.

Sarah – You mean because of my ex-husband, well that wont be a problem anymore, he is truly out of my life now, I never want to see him again.

Henry – Why, what happened.

Sarah – He hasn’t changed, are you free this evening.

Henry – Sure.

Sarah – How about you come to the dance class, walk me to the train station and we’ll take it from there.

Henry – That’s a deal.

The End.
