They kick the gun out of his hands before he can get it up, their shoes hitting off each other. This is followed by a roundhouse to Robs stomach, knocking him onto the ground. They fist bump. The gun is near Rob.

Daniel

Mike, the gun!

Mike reaches for the gun but Rob is quicker and he shoots Mike in the right leg. Daniel tackles him into the counter but when he tries to punch him, Rob is again too fast and has the gun pointed at his face immediately.

Rob

You know it didn't have to be this way, why didn't you just let me be, theres a robbery here every week.

Daniel

Because I know the change starts with one person. My family may be poor but we don't need handouts from a sly fox like you.

Rob

(laughs)

Oh well isn't that inspiring.

C*cks the gun.

I wonder if Mom will even notice you're gone.

Daniel closes his eyes. The music builds as Rob takes aim but theres a beeping noise. Rob turns around, curious. The noise is coming from the emergency button. He pressed it when Daniel tackled him. Rob turns around.

Rob

Aww shi-

Daniel punches him in the face and grabs the gun. He holds it to Rob keeping him still.

Daniel

Mikey, you okay?

MIKE:

Yeah, I called the ambulance but I think myself and Bella will live. The police should be here in ten minutes. Thank you Daniel, you saved my life.

Daniel

And you saved mine. I guess karate came in handy.

Mike

Best handshake of all time.

The screen fades to black and reopens on Daniel being escorted to his house by the police, he falls into his mothers arms. The camera pans up to the night sky and transitions to a sunset sky.

Ext. a hill overlooking cork city - sunset

The camera pans down to reveal Mike and Daniel sitting on this hill, sipping a slushy and looking out on Cork City.

Mike

So, how are things at home?

Daniel

Oh, much better. We got that cash reward same as you and the medal. Who would've thought Robert O'Connell was a highly wanted robber.

Mike

Not me.

Daniel

So yeah, the money helped a lot, my Mom can spend more time at home now and she started seeing Rick beat on us so she worked up the courage to kick him out.

Mike

That is great to hear.

Daniel

Hows Bella doing? The two of ye look like twins now.

The camera pans down to reveal Bella and Mike's bandaged legs.

Mike

She's doing great, able to walk properly now. She wears my medal well too.

Daniel

Well she deserves it. The three of us could take on the world together.

Daniel sees a hummingbird fly by and begins to hum himself. A smile forms on his face as he lies back on the grass. The closing shot is the same framing as the opening.

The End.
