[Lucy exits, Linus enters with a sign that says “Welcome Great Pumpkin!” Linus exits, then Linus enters again with the sign and stops at a Pumpkin patch, blackout]

[Scene fades to Sally making her costume, she is citing two eyeholes in a ghost costume, when she’s done, she picks up the ghost costume, Sally squeals in fright]

[Scene cuts to Lucy, Violet, and Charlie Brown]

Lucy:
A person should always choose a costume, that is in direct contrast, to her own personality!

[Lucy puts on a witch costume]

[Sally enters with her ghost costume]

Sally:
Is Linus taking me to the party?

Lucy:
That stupid blockhead of a brother of mine is out in the pumpkin patch making his yearly fool of himself!

Violet:
Boy, is he strange!

Sally:
But maybe there is a Great Pumpkin!

[Violet is putting on HER ghost costume]

Violet:
Every year Linus misses Tricks-or-Treats, and THEN the Halloween party!

[Violet puts on her ghost costume completely]

Charlie Brown:
He’ll never learn!

Sally:
Do I get to go Trick-or-Treating this year, Big Brother?

Charlie Brown:
Sure, Sally!

[Sally claps her hands in excitement]

Sally:
Oh Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! How do we do it?!

Lucy:
All you have to do is walk up to a house, ring the doorbell, and say “tricks-or-treats!”

Sally:
Are you sure it’s legal?

Lucy:
Of course it’s legal!

[Sally begins to put her ghost costume]

Sally:
I won’t want to be accused of taking part in rumble!

[Sally put on her ghost costume, but puts her hands in the eyeholes, Lucy pulls up her ghost costume, and Sally is completely in her costume, Charlie Brown puts on HIS ghost costume, but his costume has more eyeholes than it should have]

Lucy:
Oh, good grief!

[Frieda and Shermy enter, and they are both in costume]

Frieda:
Is that you, Patty?

Lucy:
No!

Shermy:
Where is Charlie Brown?

Charlie Brown:
Here I am! [Charlie Brown looks at his costume] I had a little trouble with the scissors

[Pigpen enters with HIS ghost costume, his is dirty]

Pigpen:
They’ll never guess its me under here!

Violet:
Hello, Pigpen! Glad you could make it!

Pigpen:
How Did you know it was me?

[Snoopy enters]

Lucy:
What in the world kinda costume is that?!

Charlie Brown:
He’s a World War 1 Flying Ace!

Lucy:
Now I’ve heard everything! All right everybody, we’ll go trick-or-treating, and then over to Violet’s for the big Halloween party!

[Everyone heads for the door cheering, Snoopy marches along, Charlie Brown holds the door open for him, and salutes him, when Snoopy gets outside, he walks the opposite way the gang is going, scene cuts to the gang walking to the pumpkin patch where Linus is]

Linus:
Hey! Have you come to sing pumpkin carols?

Lucy:
You blockhead! You’re gonna miss ALL the fun just like last year!

Linus:
Don’t talk like that! The Great Pumpkin knows which kids have been good, and which kids have been bad! You’ll be sorry!

Lucy:
Oh good grief!

Linus:
He’ll come here because I have the most sincere pumpkin patch, and he respects sincerity!

[Sally takes off her ghost costume]

Sally:
Do you REALLY think he’ll come?

Linus:
Tonight, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch, he flies through the air and brings toys to all the children of the world!

Sally:
That’s a good story!

Linus:
You don’t believe in the story of the great pumpkin? I though little girls always believed everything that was told to them, I though little girls were innocent and trusting!

Sally:
Welcome to the 20th Century!

Lucy:
Alright, once and for all! Are you coming or are you staying? We can’t waste all night!

[Everybody goes off with Sally following them. She sees Linus still waiting for her and ran back]

Linus:
I'm glad you came back, Sally! We'll just sit here in this pumpkin patch and you'll see the Great Pumpkin with your own eyes.

[As they waited, Sally tells him something]

Sally:
If you try to hold my hand, I'll slug you!

Linus:
Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one! He's got to! I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

[The scene then cuts to the trick-or-treaters going to get candy]

All:
Trick-or-Treat! It's Halloween!

[The person unseen gives Lucy candy]

Lucy:
Can I have an extra piece of candy for my stupid brother? He couldn't come with us 'cause he's sitting in a pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

[The person gives her an extra piece of candy for Linus]

Lucy:
It's so embarrasing to have to ask for something extra for that blockhead, Linus.

[Then they checked in their bags]

Lucy:
I got five pieces of candy!

Violet:
I got a chocolate bar!

Patty:
I got a quarter!

Charlie Brown:
I got a rock.

All:
Trick-or-treat!

[Then the trick-or-treaters got more candies and checked up on their bags again]

Violet:
Gee, I got a candy bar!

Frieda:
Boy, I got three cookies!

Lucy:
Hey, I got a package of gum!

Charlie Brown:
I got a rock.

Lucy:
Trick or treat! [gets candy] I've got a popcorn ball!

Frieda:
I got a fudge bar!

Violet:
I got a pack of gum!

Charlie Brown:
I got a rock.

Shermy:
By the way, what ever happened to the World War 1 Flying Ace?

Charlie Brown:
Oh, he's probably getting ready to take off in his Sopwith Camel on the next dawn patrol.

[Fanfare plays]

Charlie Brown:
[voiceover] His mission is to find the Red Baron and shoot him down. Here's the World War 1 Flying Ace climbing into the cockpit of his Sopwith Camel. "Contact!" he shouts.

[Snoopy starts his engines and the plane begins to move. He gets across the bumpy ground and then takes off in the air. He gets past the sun and hears engines roaring. Then hears backfires behind him as he changes color and then goes "bleah" at the shooter and laughs. He then controls it down and shoots the plane. He then gets back up and continues shooting. He then makes a loop and shoots harder. As he flies on, the red baron fired him back. He then tries to fire him, but the red baron continues firing him back. Then he was running low and then comes back for a land down to the ground. Snoopy shouts out "Curse you, red baron!" and reached down the ground and gets across a dangerous place]

Charlie Brown:
[voiceover] Here's the World War 1 Flying Ace, imagining he's down behind enemy lines making his way across the French Countryside.

[Snoopy goes past a dangerous place. And then sleeps on a hay stack before continuing the journey toward his goal. The scene goes back to the trick-or-treaters]

Lucy:
Come on, let's get going. It's time for the Halloween party.

[Everyone cheering]

[The scene goes to the trick-or-treaters going to Linus and Sally who are still in the pumpkin patch, waiting for the Great Pumpkin]

Violet:
Has the Great Pumpkin been by? [laughs]

Lucy:
What blockheads sitting in a pumpkin patch in the middle of the night!

Patty:
You've missed trick-or-treat, and now you're gonna miss the Halloween party!
