Joseph and Mary Page #5

Synopsis: JOSEPH AND MARY is a biblical drama that follows Elijah, a devout Rabbi, during a time of unrest when King Herod the Great's slaughter of innocents claims the lives of two boys Elijah had sworn to protect. Consequently, he makes it his life's mission to avenge their deaths according to the laws of the land. Complications ensue when Elijah spends time with Joseph, Mary and their young Son, who challenges the very beliefs that fuel Elijah's quest for retribution. He begins to question the true identity of this young boy. Could Jesus possibly be the Son of God? Was Elijah bearing witness to a two thousand year old prophecy? When the time comes to face his life-long enemy, Elijah finds himself warring within, whether or not to kill or to turn the other cheek and choose forgiveness, contradicting every scripture upheld by Elijah's forefathers. JOSEPH AND MARY is a story of inspiration and hope, of mercy versus revenge, in the years before Jesus became the Man that ultimately changed the cou

feeling on my face.

Touch it.

No.

Go on.

No.

- It hurts, does

- it not?

What would a monster like

you know about pain?

I will show you pain

and we shall see.

You cannot hurt me more

than you already have.

We'll see about that.

Kill him!

We have been waiting for this

day for a long time.

You may be a soldier of Rome

but I am a soldier of God.

And I would take my odds

against yours any day.

- Would you punish

- a mere soldier

- For following the

- command of a king?

Her child was five!

- There was no royal

- order for that.

And you know it.

Kill him!

Stop!

This is not the way.

This does not

concern you.

Choose forgiveness

over retribution.

- Elijah, you don't

- listen to him!

Do not listen

to him.

Elijah please,

look at me.

You know this is wrong,

you know that.

Elijah, kill him,

kill him now!

You will leave Nazareth

and never come back.

What are you doing?!

He's doing

God's will.

How dare you call

this God's will.

Your son lived!

Do you understand me?

- I have spared

- your life.

You must respond

in kind.

No.

A life for

a life.

No, no, no,

no, no

Killing him would not bring

your children back.

No!

Father.

My son.

I'm sorry, I won't be able to

protect you any longer.

You must leave your mother and

Galilea immediately.

Where shall I go?

Go out into the world, go to

your Uncle Joseph of Arimathea.

You can trust him.

And when should

I return?

Your Father in Heaven

will guide you.

My work as your earthly

father is done.

I will always

love you.

And I you, father.

Joseph, Joseph!

Joseph!

Joseph.

Mary.

I'm dying Mary.

No, shh, you just

need to rest.

I want you to know

that I've loved you from the

moment I layed my eyes upon you.

And being your husband

and father to our son have

been my greatest gifts.

And you, you have

been mine.

How can I face what lies

ahead without you?

Please, please don't

leave my alone.

You won't be alone.

And so Jesus

explored new lands,

he grows, he learns,

he becomes a man.

And eighteen years later, Jesus,

through His three year mission

and crucifixion will inspire

and change the course

of mankind forever, leaving

the single greatest impact

On humanity the world

has ever known.
