Very much, Mr. Ludlow

107

00:
08:54,787 -- 00:08:57,517

- Please call me Susannah

- All right

108

00:
08:57,590 -- 00:09:00,081

- He's just plain old Alfred

- Shut up

109

00:
09:00,993 -- 00:09:05,453

- Where's Tristan?

- He's off somewhere You know him

110

00:
09:05,531 -- 00:09:09,057

He'll welcome you home tonight

or I'll know the reason why

111

00:
09:10,870 -- 00:09:13,599

Miss Finncannon, please

Did you have a good journey?

112

00:
09:19,278 -- 00:09:22,075

She is such a lovely creature

113

00:
09:22,147 -- 00:09:24,047

But I fear the loss

of her parents

114

00:
09:24,116 -- 00:09:27,916

has given her

a certain fragility

115

00:
09:27,986 -- 00:09:30,922

I think she feels very alone

in the world

116

00:
09:32,057 -- 00:09:35,424

But she has found a new family now,

hasn't she?

117

00:
09:35,494 -- 00:09:38,360

The German military is ready

to use chaos in Croatia

118

00:
09:38,430 -- 00:09:42,595

as a justification for actions that could

plunge the entire civilized world into...

119

00:
09:42,668 -- 00:09:46,535

The word "civilized" has no place

in discussing the affairs of this world

120

00:
09:48,340 -- 00:09:51,777

Mother told us of your sympathy

for the social reformers

121

00:
09:53,078 -- 00:09:55,638

You make it sound like a disease

122

00:
09:55,714 -- 00:09:57,443

No, I'm in agreement

123

00:
09:57,515 -- 00:10:01,042

You mother told me all about One Stab

She says he was a great warrior

124

00:
10:01,119 -- 00:10:02,586

Yes

125

00:
10:02,654 -- 00:10:05,145

He has a bag of scalps

to prove it

126

00:
10:06,324 -- 00:10:08,349

But don't worry

127

00:
10:08,427 -- 00:10:10,360

He's devoted to Father now

128

00:
10:10,429 -- 00:10:12,157

Rather, they're devoted

to each other

129

00:
10:12,230 -- 00:10:13,925

Can he speak English?

130

00:
10:13,999 -- 00:10:16,467

Stab, speak English?

131

00:
10:16,534 -- 00:10:19,970

He wouldn't lower himself

to speak English

132

00:
10:21,373 -- 00:10:24,809

But watch out because

he understands it perfectly well

133

00:
10:26,611 -- 00:10:28,579

There's Tristan

134

00:
10:48,466 -- 00:10:50,661

- Don't they feed you?

- Not much

135

00:
10:57,342 -- 00:11:00,504

- You smell

- Miss me, did you?

136

00:
11:00,577 -- 00:11:02,511

- Still hung over?

- Still drunk

137

00:
11:06,818 -- 00:11:09,309

Isn't she amazing?

138

00:
11:09,387 -- 00:11:11,251

So this is Tristan

139

00:
11:14,525 -- 00:11:16,517

And does he speak English?

140

00:
11:18,730 -- 00:11:20,197

For God's sake

141

00:
11:32,242 -- 00:11:36,201

Miss Finncannon,

it's a pleasure to meet you

142

00:
11:36,280 -- 00:11:39,044

I hope you and Ugly here

143

00:
11:39,116 -- 00:11:40,913

find every happiness together

144

00:
11:45,622 -- 00:11:50,025

Don't mind my brother Your dog

has more breeding than he has

145

00:
12:13,450 -- 00:12:15,748

This is Mother's room

146

00:
12:15,819 -- 00:12:17,252

It's lovely

147

00:
12:20,958 -- 00:12:23,153

- It's a pleasure to meet you, Pet

- And you, miss

148

00:
12:23,227 -- 00:12:24,659

Thank you

149

00:
12:33,971 -- 00:12:36,735

- Which one?

- It's this one

150

00:
12:41,712 -- 00:12:43,646

Angelica Susannah

151

00:
13:15,412 -- 00:13:17,676

Hello

152

00:
13:18,682 -- 00:13:20,444

You must be Isabel Two

153

00:
13:24,121 -- 00:13:26,384

I've already met your mother

and father

154

00:
13:28,124 -- 00:13:29,888

- How old are you?

- Thirteen

155

00:
13:34,097 -- 00:13:37,225

When I was 13,

I was sent away

156

00:
13:37,300 -- 00:13:39,325

to boarding school

157

00:
13:40,303 -- 00:13:41,703

I hated it

158

00:
13:43,940 -- 00:13:45,202

May I help you?

159

00:
13:49,212 -- 00:13:50,702

You're going to marry Samuel

160

00:
13:50,780 -- 00:13:52,407

That's right, I am

161

00:
13:52,482 -- 00:13:54,474

I'm going to marry Tristan

162

00:
13:57,454 -- 00:13:58,886

We'll be sisters

163

00:
14:00,923 -- 00:14:03,756

I see you two have met

164

00:
14:03,827 -- 00:14:05,555

Isabel Two is letting me help

165

00:
14:07,063 -- 00:14:09,531

Would you like a rest?

You must be exhausted

166

00:
14:09,599 -- 00:14:12,067

No, not at all

This is so refreshing

167

00:
14:12,135 -- 00:14:16,071

all this grandeur,

this unexpected

168

00:
14:16,139 -- 00:14:18,402

gift from God

169

00:
14:18,474 -- 00:14:22,773

It doesn't seem like much of a gift

in a hard winter, I assure you

170

00:
14:23,678 -- 00:14:25,271

Where's Samuel?

171

00:
14:25,348 -- 00:14:28,680

Inside I could tell your father

wanted him all to himself

172

00:
14:29,886 -- 00:14:33,685

- You're very generous

- No, just happy

173

00:
14:37,760 -- 00:14:39,853

Stop mooning over her

and come in here

174

00:
14:39,929 -- 00:14:43,625

Samuel wants to know

about those calves from Cheyenne

175

00:
14:43,698 -- 00:14:45,188

Get in here

176

00:
14:46,801 -- 00:14:49,566

Please excuse my father

177

00:
14:49,639 -- 00:14:54,268

It makes him feel young and powerful

to treat us like we're idiot children

178

00:
15:00,216 -- 00:15:03,982

For all His countless blessings,

may God's holy name be praised Amen

179

00:
15:07,189 -- 00:15:10,556

Tell Father what you were saying

about Vienna

180

00:
15:10,625 -- 00:15:12,787

- What's that?

- It's the Kaiser

181

00:
15:14,029 -- 00:15:16,555

He won't stop them

from annihilating Serbia

182

00:
15:16,631 -- 00:15:18,656

Let's not talk about war, please

183

00:
15:19,634 -- 00:15:22,900

Susannah hears

that England's mobilizing

184

00:
15:22,972 -- 00:15:25,667

We're stuck out here

while all this is going on

185

00:
15:25,740 -- 00:15:29,471

- Thank God

- You wouldn't want us to evade a duty

186

00:
15:29,544 -- 00:15:32,513

- Wouldn't I?

- Father, with respect...

187

00:
15:34,282 -- 00:15:35,977

Please excuse me

for being late

188

00:
15:36,051 -- 00:15:39,112

I packed so carefully,

I couldn't find anything

189

00:
15:40,889 -- 00:15:43,289

Thank you

190

00:
15:49,731 -- 00:15:53,030

Would you like some...

191

00:
15:59,674 -- 00:16:03,166

As evening fell

a maiden stood

192

00:
16:03,245 -- 00:16:06,806

At the edge of a wood

193

00:
16:06,881 -- 00:16:10,248

In her hands lay the reins

194

00:
16:10,318 -- 00:16:13,549

Of a stallion

195

00:
16:13,622 -- 00:16:15,214

And n'er I'd seen

196

00:
16:15,290 -- 00:16:17,190

A girl as fair

197

00:
16:17,259 -- 00:16:20,490

Heard a gentler voice anywhere

198

00:
16:20,562 -- 00:16:22,291

Whispered, alas

199

00:
16:22,364 -- 00:16:23,922

She belonged

200

00:
16:23,999 -- 00:16:26,559

Belonged to another

201

00:
16:26,635 -- 00:16:30,162

Another, forever

202

00:
16:31,071 -- 00:16:33,370

Yes, she belonged to

203

00:
16:33,440 -- 00:16:36,807

The twilight and mist

204

00:
16:39,748 -- 00:16:41,773

Dear Isabel:

205

00:
16:41,850 -- 00:16:45,717

How strange to have a cultivated woman

in the house again

206

00:
16:45,787 -- 00:16:47,948

and how intoxicating

207

00:
16:48,023 -- 00:16:51,480
