Emma wrote down everything in her notebook as she sat next to the window.

INT. THE MILLERS HOUSE- LATER

Amy just came from work, the kids rushed out to her.

JOHN AND ROSEMARY

Mom!

AMY:

Hey, guys. Did you enjoy yourself with Jessica?

ROSEMARY:

Yeah, we did. She was so cool

AMY:

Good to hear. Where's Emma?

ROSEMARY:

Well…

EMMA:

I'm right here. Welcome home mom

AMY:

(smile)

Good to be home.

Amy paid Jessica then made dinner for the kids. After a long day of hard work Amy immediately fell asleep after dinner. Rosemary and John went to their room while Emma stayed behind, munching on a piece of carrot.

EMMA (V.O.)

I never wanted to dirty my hands again. But, I must act quickly before the police find out. I only want a mommy that understands and loves me. But she can't do that with two other children. So time for them to go.

INT. THE MILLER'S HOUSE- MORNING

As usual, Jessica comes over and Amy leaves for work. Jessica was watching 'Spider Man: No way home'. Emma walked down to the living room, where everyone was and sat next to John.

JESSICA:

Good movie, huh

(look over to Emma)

You know, it's the first time I ever saw you since I started babysitting you kids

EMMA:

Can you shut up? I'm trying to watch a movie.

JESSICA:

Oh yeah…sorry

(turn back around)

After a while Emma got up and pretended to go to her room, but instead went to Amy's room. She started searching the room for something.

EMMA:

Where is it? I know there are drugs here somewhere.

JOHN:

What are you doing, Emma?

EMMA:

John, you shouldn't be here.

JOHN:

If you don't tell me why you're in mom's room, I'm going to tell her.

EMMA:

That won't be necessary.

Emma grab John by her arm and bangs his head on the floor until he stops moving and blood is everywhere. Emma smiled evilly. Emma walked out and called Jessica from the front of Amy's room.

EMMA:

Jessica, can you come here for a second?

JESSICA:

Sure, be right there.

Jessica walked up to Emma.

JESSICA:

What is it?

EMMA:

John wants to show you something. Come let's look.

ROSEMARY:

Can I come

EMMA:

No, he called Jessica, alone.

Emma led Jessica in the room.

JESSICA:

So, what is this about?

Jessica looks down and says John.

EMMA:

Say a word and you'll regret it.

JESSICA:

What did you do?

(panics)

Call the ambulance.

EMMA:

Right, I should.

Emma picked up the cellphone in the room and called the ambulance.

LADY:

Hello, what's your emergency?

EMMA:

(sobbing/panicking voice)

Help, help please! My babysitter knocked my brother unconscious, please she's coming for me, please, hurry.

LADY:

Hold on, we got your address, we're on our way.

EMMA:

Thank you.

Emma put back the phone.

JESSICA:

So, that was a fake call?

EMMA:

(chuckle)

Oh no, sweetheart it was real.

JESSICA:

(panic)

So why didn't you tell them the truth? What you did to poor John.

EMMA:

And put myself into trouble, no way. I don't think so.

JESSICA:

What?

EMMA:

(shouts)

Jessica stop! Stop please, no!

JESSICA:

What?

EMMA:

(shouts)

What are you doing, stop Jessica!

JESSICA:

What are you doing? Stop the shouting.

EMMA:

(shouts)

You're hurting him, please stop!

JESSICA:

What are you talking about?

Emma ran down.

ROSEMARY:

What's going on?

EMMA:

(in tears)

Jessica beat up poor John. We need to go.

Jessica ran down.

JESSICA:

What are you doing…stop

EMMA:

Come on, we got to go.

Emma grabbed Rosemary's hand and ran out the house.

JESSICA:

(shouts)

Wait!

Emma and Rosemary ran out of the road yelling for help

EMMA/ROSEMARY

(yells)

Help!

All the neighbors came out looking. Then some cops car pull up and an ambulance.

Ken then rushed out of one of them.

EMMA:

Officer Ken!

KEN:

Emma, are you alright. What's going on?

EMMA:

(sobbing)

Our babysitter…beat up John…and was trying to get us too.

KEN:

Ok, just stay here we'll handle the rest.

POLICE MAN:

Ma'am, but your hands in the air.

JESSICA:

I didn't do anything,

POLICE MAN:

Ma'am, please put your hands in the air

Jessica slowly put her hands in the air.

JESSICA:

It wasn't me, it was her

Jessica points on Emma.

JESSICA:

I'm innocent

POLICE MAN:

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?

JESSICA:

Yes

POLICE MAN:

With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?

JESSICA:

I just want to speak to my mom

POLICE MAN:

As you wish

The police man took Jessica away as the Paramedics went for John.

ROSEMARY:

Sir, will by brother be alright?

PARAMEDIC MAN:

Nothing severe

ROSEMARY:

Oh, thank God

KEN:

You two come with me.

Ken went to he police station with Emma and Rosemary. Then he called Amy to inform her on what happened. In minutes Amy got there.

AMY:

Emma! Rosemary!

Amy ran up to them.

AMY (CONT'D)

Are you girls alright? Nothing has happen to you, right?

ROSEMARY:

We're ok, mom. Well, it was all thanks to Emma.

AMY:

Oh, thank you Emma. You're really a life-saver. Thank you.

Amy hugged the two girls.

EMMA:

Anything…mom

KEN:

Ok, since you all are finish, Amy, a word, please

AMY:

Sure.

Ken and Amy started walking down the hallway.

KEN:

You realize the situation, right.

AMY:

Yeah, are you guys going to take Emma away from me

KEN:

No, plus still no news from her relatives.

AMY:

Oh, well…I was thinking about adopting Emma.

KEN:

What?

AMY:

Well…since she is an orphan it's only right for someone to adopt her and I want to do that.

KEN:

Wait, but we still haven't found her relatives yet

AMY:

That won't be necessary. I'm going to adopt Emma and that's final. Get the paperwork’s, please.

KEN:

Yea, sure.

Ken rushed in his officer and get an adoption paper. He quickly rush back to Amy.

KEN (CONT'D)

Here you go

AMY:

Thank you.

Amy quickly sign everything.

KEN:

Ok, you're officially Emma's mother, congrats!

AMY:

Thank you, I can't wait to tell her.

KEN:

I really don't know if I feel happy or regret that I didn't do that earlier.

AMY:

By the way, why didn't you kept Emma instead of giving her to Carl and I?

KEN:

Well, it was a long story, I haven't told anyone, but I had a daughter once. Her name was Penelope, I was a awful person back then and neglected my wife and daughter. Soon, my wife, Sarah died by cancer and I fell into grief. I drank a lot and smoke and so Penelope health depleted and one day she had enough and throw herself in a river. I regret that I didn't love her a such as I should, so then I decided to become a cop and protect others. That's why I care so much about Emma. She remained me of Penelope.

AMY:

Wow, I'm sorry…about your loss
