Hip Hippo:
Hey-boppa, I-boppa.

Ming-Ming:
We've got to help them.
Linny:
And a-one and a-two...
Tuck:
A cat and a hippo who both want to sing.
Ming-Ming:
This is serious.
Tuck:
We have to help them.
Linny:
Let's save the singers.
Both:
Let's save the singers.
All:

Ming-Ming:

We're Wonder Pets and we'll help you.
Linny:

Tuck:
Uh, Linny?
I feel like singing the teamwork song a different way today.
Linny:

Both:
Take turns?
Linny:
Take turns.
All:
Take turns.
Linny:
First you, then you.
And a-one and a-two...
Tuck:

Ming-Ming:
Weema-deema-doo.
Linny:
Come on, Wonder Pets.
We've got some singing animals to save.
Ming-Ming:
We are coming to save you, Cool Cat and Hip Hippo.
All:
Whee!
Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets.
We're on our way.
To help the singing animals and save the day.
Ming-Ming:
We're not too big.
Tuck:
And we're not too tough.
All:
But when we work together, we've got the right stuff.
Go, Wonder Pets!
Yay!
Linny:
That's Greenwich Village, in New York City.
Lots of really creative people live there.
All:
Ooh.
Cool Cat:
Skaddly-at.
Hip Hippo:
Bebop.
Tuck:
I hear the Cool Cat and the Hip Hippo.
Linny:
Let's land, Wonder Pets.
All:
Whee!
Yay!
Linny:
It's an animal jazz club.
Tuck:
Where animals from all over come to sing and play.
Ming-Ming:
Or to sing and push.
Cool Cat:
Scat daddlee adda step aside.
Hip Hippo:
Shoo-bop.
You-hop away and hide.
You tire me out, cat.
Where's my hanky?
Cool Cat:
I need some milk.
Tuck:
Hey, Cool Cat and Hip Hippo.
Hip Hippo:
Yo, Wonder Pets, what's popping?
Both:
Huh?
Linny:
"What's popping?" is jazz talk for, "What have you been up to lately?".
Ming-Ming:
Oh.
I have been saving animals, using teamwork, and eating celery.
What is popping for you?
Cool Cat:
I came to sing scat.
But that hippo keeps bebopping in my space.
Hip Hippo:
I came to sing bebop.
But the cat's scatting all over the place.
Linny:
So you both came to the jazz club to sing, but you keep getting in each other's way.
Both:
Yeah.
Ming-Ming:
That is a problem.
Tuck:
Hey, I have an idea.
There are two stages.
Why don't you each stand on a different stage?
Hip Hippo:
That's a fine plan, man.
Tuck:
Cool Cat, you stand here.
Cool Cat:
The cat can do that.
Ming-Ming:
Hip Hippo, you stand here.
Hip Hippo:
I'm hip to this trip.
Linny:
Now you can both sing at the same time without bothering each other.
Cool Cat:
Scat diddle-adda.
Scat doo dat.
I'm a Cool Cat and I love to sing scat.
Hip Hippo:
Hey-pop I-bop.
Who-bop he-bop.
I'm a Hip Hippo and I sing bebop.
Linny:
It doesn't sound good when they sing at the same time, does it, Wonder Pets?
Cool Cat:
He makes this cat sound uncool.
Hip Hippo:
She makes my bebop into be-slop.
Tuck:
I guess having them sing on different stages didn't work.
Linny:
Look, Wonder Pets.
Customers.
Baby Armadillo:
I can't wait to hear some real jazz, pa.
Papa Armadillo:
You will, boy.
You will.
All:
We want jazz.
We want jazz.
Tuck:
They've come from Texas to hear you guys.
Ming-Ming:
Texas?
This is serious.
Linny:
I wish you two could find a way to make music together.
Tuck:
Remember how Ming-Ming and I sang our teamwork song in the classroom?
Linny:
You took turns.
And the Cool Cat and Hip Hippo should take turns too.
Cool Cat:
Take what?
Hip Hippo:
Turn who?
Linny:
Take turns.
Tuck:
Take turns.
Ming-Ming:
Take turns.
Both:
Take turns?
Linny:
First you, then you.
That's what taking turns means.
Cool Cat:
I've never taken turns singing.
Never.
Hip Hippo:
I've never sung with anybody else.
Ever.
Linny:
You'll be great at taking turns.
The Wonder Pets will get you started.
Tuck, beat that drum.
Ming-Ming, bang that bongo.
And I'll smack this cymbal.
Now let's show the Cool Cat and the Hip Hippo how totally cool taking turns can be.
And a-one and a-two...
