SCENE 10 DAY - EXT- TRADERS UNION MEETING
GATHERING OF ALL THE TRADERS, FOR THEIR GENERAL MEETING.
SIR NIXON:
Thank you once again for coming out in mass as supposed. Last month there was a low turn up. (HE WHISPERS TO HIS SECRETARY) first
agenda of todays meeting is, as the president of all traders association, me and my executives , discussed and come to conclusion that, we all are going to have one uniform and each uniform costs #10,000. To be paid to the secretary. Our outing next month (INTERUPTED)
MEMBER:
With due respect Mr President, I think, after the meeting with your executives, you will bring your agenda to the general bodies for deliberations and thus having a good conclusion. You cant suggest something and impose (INTERUPTED)
SIR NIXON:
Sit down please with your correction. When you were the president of ATA, things were very slow and meetings ends late due to too much argument. I have decided to suggest things and conclude for the members once the opinion or
SIR NIXON:
suggestion is good. Please Members of ATA, this is the sample of the uniform
ANOTHER MEMBER:
Sir, the cost of the uniform is expensive
ANOTHER MEMBER (cont’d)
Mr President, members of ATA, before we start to talk about, whether the uniform is expensive or not, let us first of all thank the executives for such development. I have waited to see such as other associations I know have different uniforms for each occasions, so it will be nice if we have ours.
(THE EXECUTIVES WHERE HAPPY. EWES ENTERS)
My own question is, on 8th December 2003, Mr sardise gave us, the sum of $500000 for uniforms, care of the members who lost their shops during the renovation and clash of the military. Since then, I particularly have not heard about the money and how its been spent.
Second question, please his excellency gave the traders, compensation especially the TIMBER shops for the lost of their goods due to fire outbreak.
((THERE WERE NOISE IN THE MEETING ARENA))
TREASURER:
Good question, you came prepared. You must have be an accountant but try and do your research very well before trying to be nice. The money His excellency gave to traders Association has been disbursed since to the affected persons, though it didn’t get to all and we wrote to His excellency back that it wasn’t enough and awaits for his respond but I believe it covers majority of the traders.
SECRETARY:
I was really affected, some of you will testify with me. Its part of the reason we decided to bring out this uniform issue so as when to go and see His Excellency, it will look colorful. Lets think of the progress and welfare of the association.
MEMBER:
I was affected very well and I know I cried aloud but I get nothing.
Please tell us, who and who receives what was given to us all
SIR NIXON:
I want to speak, sit. Women are not meant to sit at the table where men sits because they are too desperate once money is involved. You have no right to question, who and who gets the money but
MEMBER:
You got it wrong sir. This meeting was meant for us all, men and women and we are entitled to ask questions and even suggests for the welfare of the association. Since 8 years ago, you took over from Mr.
Osas, there has never been an account statement nor an audit from year to year, we are not dummies.
