"The Storm":

FADE IN:

INT. SLIM Z'S HOUSE - DAY

Slim Z is trimming flowers in the garden, while Jentzen is sitting on a chair rubbing shaving cream on his foot, which has a bandage around his tongue. They turn to the camera and start talking.

SLIM Z:
"Hey there, viewers. We were supposed to see a movie today, but our plans got changed. Wanna know why?"

JENTZEN:
"Well, let's just say that visiting the dentist was not exactly a picnic."

SLIM Z:
"Yeah, Emily Dobson's dad is a dentist and he asked me to take her out on a date. Meanwhile, Jentzen here had to get his teeth cleaned."

JENTZEN:
"And because the dentist sneezed while he was digging in my gums, I now have a hole in my tongue."

Slim Z winces in sympathy.

SLIM Z:
"Ouch."

JENTZEN:
"But enough of that. Let's talk about something more exciting - our concert tonight!"

Slim Z nods.

SLIM Z:
"That's right. Jentzen bought a cool bus for us to ride in, and we're taking all our friends with us."

JENTZEN:
"Except I won't be there. I gotta stay home and rest my tongue."

SLIM Z:
"No worries, buddy. We got this covered."

Suddenly, Caleb bursts in with a worried expression.

CALEB:
"Guys, we have a problem."

SLIM Z:
"What's up?"

CALEB:
"There's a storm coming. And it's gonna hit us hard."

JENTZEN:
"What? But Caleb, you're the weatherman. Why didn't you predict this earlier?"

CALEB:
"I did, but I got it wrong. It's worse than I thought."

SLIM Z:
"Great. Just great. Now what do we do?"

CALEB:
"I suggest we stay put. It's not safe to travel in this weather."

The lights flicker, then go off.

SLIM Z:
"Looks like we have no choice, guys. Let's make the best of it."

Suddenly, Emily Dobson walks in.

EMILY:
"Hey, Slim Z. Heard you're staying in tonight. Mind if I join you?"

Slim Z's face lights up.

SLIM Z:
"Uh, yeah, sure. No problem at all."

Emily smiles and sits down next to him.

SLIM Z:
"So, what do you wanna do?"

EMILY:
"I don't know. Talk, I guess."

SLIM Z:
"Okay, sure. What do you wanna talk about?"

EMILY:
"Well, how about your two ex-crushes, Lucy and Christine?"

Slim Z's eyes go wide.

SLIM Z:
"Uh, what about them?"

EMILY:
"I saw them earlier at the mall. They looked pretty chummy with each other."

Slim Z's mind races.

SLIM Z:
"Really? That's, uh, interesting. I mean, they were never best friends before, so..."

EMILY:
"Are you okay, Slim Z? You seem nervous."

SLIM Z:
"What? No, no. I'm fine. Just a bit, you know, jumpy. Because of the storm and all."

Emily smiles knowingly.

EMILY:
"Uh huh. Well, if you wanna eavesdrop on them, they're in the next room."

Slim Z's eyes light up.

SLIM Z:
"Oh, thanks. I'll just, uh, go and check on them."

He gets up, then walks away.

EMILY:
"Boys," she sighs.

A few feet away, slim z’s little brother Bader is watching Slim Z's every move.

BADER:
"Time for some sweet revenge."

He walks over to Lucy and Christine, who are still talking and laughing.

BADER:
"Hey, ladies. Whatcha up to?"

LUCY:
"Nothing much. Just catching up."

CHRISTINE:
"Yeah, we haven't seen each other in ages."

BADER:
"That's cool. Say, have you met Slim Z's new crush, Emily?"

Lucy and Christine exchange looks.

LUCY:
"No, we haven't. Is she pretty?"

BADER:
"Oh, she's gorgeous. And she's sitting next to Slim Z right now."

Lucy and Christine's jaws drop.

LUCY:
"What? But Slim Z is more into girls like, you know, us."

CHRISTINE:
"Yeah, she can't be that special."

BADER:
"Well, Slim Z seems to think so. But hey, don't take it from me. See for yourself."

They get up and walk towards Slim Z's room.

Meanwhile, Gavin is hitting on Caleb while Annie and Mr. Galloway are watching.

GAVIN:
"Hey, Caleb. Nice pants. Want me to check the tag and see if they're made of husband material?"

Caleb shoots him a disgusted look.

CALEB:
"Um, thanks but no thanks. I'm good."

Annie scowls.

ANNIE:
"Gavin, stop hitting on my coworker. And Caleb, why didn't you show up for the live outdoor broadcast?"

CALEB:
"I did, but your boss told me to go downtown on my own. And then I got robbed."

MR. GALLOWAY:
"What? Robbed? By whom?"

CALEB:
"Two guys. They took my shirt and jacket."

MR. GALLOWAY:
"Unbelievable. We'll have to call the police."

The crank on the crank able television breaks off, and everyone groans in frustration.

RANDOM CHARACTER 1: "This is a disaster. How will we survive without TV?"

RANDOM CHARACTER 2: "I know. What are we gonna do now?"

Slim Z and his three ex-crushes emerge from his room, looking sheepish.

SLIM Z:
"Hey, guys. What's up?"

The rest of the characters glare at him, then start singing "We Will Rock You" by Queen. Slim Z joins in reluctantly, then gradually starts to enjoy himself.

FADE OUT. THE END.
