INT. LEV'S CELLAR - DAY
Lev, now 10, is setting up for another big stage musical show. He's excited and nervous, hoping that it will be a success just like his last one.
LEV:
(to himself) Okay, everything looks good. I just need everyone to show up on time.Suddenly, Slim Z (now 6) bursts in, singing loudly.
SLIM Z:
♪ I'm the barber of Seville! ♪LEV:
(confused) Hey, Slim Z. What are you doing? That's not the song we agreed on.SLIM Z:
(defensive) I'm taking my talents to opera, Lev. I'm a natural-born singer! Watch and learn.Lev looks on in shock as Slim Z marches out of the cellar with Gavin (now 8) in tow.
LEV:
(to himself) What just happened?CUT TO:
INT. OPERA HOUSE - DAY
Slim Z and Gavin strut into the opera house, where they meet with the adults.
SLIM Z:
(proudly) I'm here to make my debut as the King of Crooners.BARNABY:
(smiling) Of course, Slim Z. We're all excited to see what you can do.As Slim Z takes the stage, he starts singing I'm the barber of Seville again. The crowd looks on in confusion and some even start laughing.
SLIM Z:
(dramatic) What's so funny? This is opera!The adults try to humor him with a meaningless contract, but Slim Z takes it seriously and leaves, flaunting it in front of Lev when he and Gavin return to the cellar.
CUT TO:
INT. SLIM Z'S DREAM - NIGHT
Slim Z nods off to sleep and enters a surreal world where it's 20 years later and everyone is still kids.
SLIM Z:
(amazed, to himself) Wow! I'm a famous singer!He tries to make a debut, but it turns out to be a disaster. Barnaby sends him out into the street to sing for his dinner at the curb.
CUT TO:
INT. LEV'S CELLAR - DAY
Lev is now grown up and has his own successful nightclub. Young Elliana (now 8), young Jentzen (now 9), young Emily (now 7), young Piper (now 8), and young Jordan (now 9) are all making "hundreds and thousands of dollars."
SLIM Z:
(miserable) This isn't the life I wanted. I want to croon again.BARNABY:
(stern) No, Slim Z. You blew your chance in the opera. You can't go back.But as the crowd calls his name, Slim Z realizes that he wants to croon more than anything. He sings "Learn to Croon," and the audience loves it.
CUT TO:
INT. LEV'S CELLAR - PRESENT DAY
Slim Z, now a teenager, takes the stage in Lev's cellar once again and performs "Learn to Croon" to the cheers of the audience.
SLIM Z:
(grinning) That's more like it.The rest of the teens look on with adoration as Slim Z finishes his performance and takes a bow.
BRANDON:
(smiling) You still got it, Slim Z.EMILY:
(blushing) Yeah, you're amazing.LEV:
(proudly) I always knew you were a natural-born crooner.JENTZEN:
(laughing) And we'll always back you up.ELLIANA:
(grinning) Heck yeah. You're one of us.PIPER:
(smiling) A true talent.The seniors share a laugh and a hug as the scene fades to black.
