them.
BRIT is staring down at the sidewalk.
She looks over at CANDY.
BRIT:
I’m hungry.
CANDY smiles and then tosses the rest of the money into thebag.
CANDY:
Lets get some breakfast.
There’s a shopping cart turned over on its side with a red
balloon tied to it.
The balloon is flapping in the wind.
There is sand and garbage everywhere.
There are palm trees in the background.
BRIT and CANDY are standing at a lonely ice cream stand on
the side of the road.
All the other spring breakers have gone home.
They are each licking a large multi colored ice cream pop.
They look around at the scenery.
There’s nothing to do.
CANDY kicks a couple of pebbles.
They seem bored.
79.
EXT. BACK OF ICE CREAM STAND/PARKING LOT - DAY
CANDY is holding a cell phone up to her ear.
She is slowly sauntering around the parking lot. She moveslike a little kid now.
BRIT is sitting down on the sidewalk eating her ice pop.
Her knees are up under her chin.
She looks like she is about to laugh at something.
The sun is shining.
The GO GO’S song “VACATION,” starts to quietly play under theimage.
Both girls are wearing sun glasses and bikini’s.
CANDY licks the bottom of her ice pop.
She smiles nervously.
CANDY:
(speaking into her cell
phone)
Hi mom. It’s Candy. Sorry I
haven't called in so long. I
apologize. I know, I know. I went
to spring break anyway. It was so
fun. You have no idea. It’s been
such a blast. We had a great time.
Yeah...Well, I just wanted to let
you know I’m coming home now, back
to school and everything. And
listen, I just want you to know
something mom...I love you all so
much...And that I’m gonna do better
now.
CANDY rolls here eyes and bats her lashes.
Her ice pop drips onto the sidewalk.
BRIT starts to laugh.
CUT TO:
80.
SAME EXACT LOCATION/A MOMENT LATER.
Now BRIT is on the phone talking to her mom.
CANDY is sitting in the exact same spot that BRIT wassitting.
BRIT:
(on the cell phone)
Better at school. Better at
life...Yeah. I feel different for
some reason. I feel changed. Like
I just wanna be a good girl
now...Yeah, I just wanna have fun
and be happy...I think that’s the
secret to life...Be a good
person...OK. I will. I’ll call
ya’ll soon. Love you lot’s. Kiss
daddy for me. Love you. Bye bye.
She hangs up the cell phone and tosses it onto the sidewalk.
She licks the drips from the melted ice pop off her fingers.
The wind blows her hair.
EXT. BEACH SIDE MAIN STRIP - DAY
We see the Cadillac make it’s way down the street.
The bass is pumping.
It’s quiet out.
We see BRIT’S arm hanging out the driver’s side.
The song continues as they cruise down the street.
I/E. CADDILAC - DAY
We are inside with them now as they drive.
The bass is even louder.
BRIT is bobbing her head up and down to the music.
Out of nowhere we hear police sirens go off.
Both girls sit up straight in their seats.
81.
The sirens grow much louder.
We see the reflection of police lights coming from behindthem.
BRIT looks in her rear view window and see’s a cop car behind
her.
BRIT:
Sh*t.
She sits up even straighter now.
We hear a COP speak into a loud speaker.
COP:
(coming from the speakerin the cop car behindthem)
Pull over!
BRIT pulls the car over onto the side of the road.
The cop car pulls up beside them.
The lights are spinning.
CANDY leans in.
The COP rolls his window down.
He stares at BRIT and CANDY for a bit.
He has sunglasses and a thick moustache.
There’s a really long pause.
COP (CONT’D)
That’s way too loud. You cant playyour music that loud...Need to turnit down. It disturbs the qualityof life here.
They turn the music completely off.
The COP nods.
For the first time, the girls seem semi shocked.
82.
BRIT pulls away.
We drive with them for a moment in almost complete silence.
The sun is shining.
BRIT turns a corner down a more quiet street.
She sticks her head out the window a bit and gets some breeze
on her face.
CANDY takes a deep breath and smiles.
The wind is blowing.
The song plays at full volume now.
They both drive quietly for a while.
The world seems perfect.
THE END.
FADE OUT.
