INT. SMALL TOWN CAFE - MORNING

The morning sun filters through the large windows of a quaint, small-town cafe. The air is

filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The place is bustling with regular customers.

At a corner table, we see SOPHIA, mid-30s, a thoughtful and slightly anxious woman,

scribbling in her journal. She takes a sip of her coffee and looks out the window.

SOPHIA (V.O.)

In life, moments come and go, but some echoes linger forever.

The bell above the door jingles as JACK, late 30s, rugged yet charming, enters the cafe. He

spots Sophia and smiles. Sophia looks up, her eyes widen in surprise and recognition.

JACK:

Hey, Sophia. Long time no see.

SOPHIA:

Jack? Wow, it's been years. How have you been?

JACK:

Mind if I join you?

Sophia gestures to the empty seat across from her. Jack sits down, placing his hat on the

table.

SOPHIA:

What brings you back to Riverdale? I thought you moved to the city.

JACK:

I did. But, you know, sometimes the past has a way of pulling you back.

SOPHIA:

Tell me about it.

They share a knowing look. A WAITER approaches their table.

WAITER:

Good morning! Can I get you something?

JACK:

Just a black coffee, thanks.

The waiter nods and leaves. An awkward silence falls between them for a moment.

JACK:

So, how have you been?

SOPHIA:

I've been... alright. Running the family bookstore now. It's quiet, but it has its charm.

JACK:

I remember that place. Spent many afternoons there. It's good to hear it's still around.

The waiter returns with Jack's coffee. Jack takes a sip, savoring the warmth.

JACK:

I heard about your dad. I'm really sorry.

SOPHIA:

Thank you. It's been tough, but the store helps me feel connected to him.

JACK:

I'm glad to hear that. You always had a way of finding light in dark times.

Sophia smiles softly. Her eyes drift to her journal, then back to Jack.

SOPHIA:

And you? What brings you back here?

JACK:

I needed a change. City life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Plus, I missed this place... and the

people in it.

Their eyes meet again, filled with unspoken words and memories. The cafe noise fades into

the background as they reconnect.

SOPHIA (V.O.)

Some echoes of yesterday never fade. They shape who we are, guiding us back to where

we belong.

The scene ends with Jack and Sophia smiling at each other, a rekindling of a long-lost

connection evident in their eyes.

INT. SOPHIA'S BOOKSTORE - AFTERNOON

The bookstore is cozy and filled with the scent of old books. Sophia is arranging a shelf

when Jack walks in. The bell above the door jingles, drawing her attention.

JACK:

Nice place you got here. Brings back memories.

SOPHIA:

Thanks. It's a bit of a mess, but it's home.

Jack picks up a book from a nearby table, flipping through its pages.

JACK:

I was thinking... maybe I could help out here for a while. If you'd have me.

SOPHIA:

Really? That would be... great. I could use the help.

They share a warm smile, the bond between them strengthening. Jack puts the book back

and moves to help Sophia with the shelves. Together, they start to reorganize the

bookstore, a new chapter in their lives beginning.

SOPHIA (V.O.)

Sometimes, the echoes of yesterday guide us to the promises of tomorrow.

The camera pans out, showing the two of them working side by side, filling the bookstore

with life and shared history.

FADE OUT.

THE END OF ACT 1

INT. SOPHIA'S BOOKSTORE - AFTERNOON

Jack and Sophia are working together to reorganize the bookstore. They chat and laugh as

they go, rekindling their old friendship.

SOPHIA:

I never thought I'd see the day Jack would be back in Riverdale.

JACK:

Life has a way of surprising us. And I'm glad I'm here.

As they work, they start to uncover secrets about their past and the town's history. They

stumble upon an old diary belonging to Sophia's father, which reveals a shocking truth

about the town's decline.

SOPHIA:

(reading from the diary)

My dear Sophia, I've been trying to expose the truth about the town's corruption for years.

But I fear it's too late. The damage is done.

JACK:

This is incredible. Your father was trying to expose the truth?

SOPHIA:

It seems that way. But why did he keep it a secret?

JACK:

Maybe he was trying to protect you. Or maybe he was hiding something himself.

Sophia's eyes widen in shock.

SOPHIA:

You think my father was involved in the town's decline?

JACK:

I don't know what to think. But we need to find out the truth.

it easier for developers to buy up land.

JACK:

And your father was trying to expose him?

SOPHIA:

Yes. But it seems that his efforts were in vain.

Suddenly, they hear a knock at the door. It's RACHEL, Sophia's best friend.

RACHEL:

Hey, guys! I saw your light on and thought I'd drop by.

SOPHIA:

Rachel, what are you doing here?

RACHEL:

I just wanted to check in on you. You've been acting really weird lately.

Sophia looks nervous.

SOPHIA:

I'm fine, Rachel. Just busy with the bookstore.

Rachel looks suspicious.

RACHEL:

Sophia, I know what's going on. I know you're hiding something from me.

Sophia's eyes widen in alarm.

SOPHIA:

What do you mean?

RACHEL:

Don't play dumb, Sophia. I know you're working with Jack again.

JACK:

I mean, I didn't tell you the whole truth about why I came back to Riverdale.

Sophia's eyes narrow.

SOPHIA:

What are you talking about?

JACK:

I'm talking about my father. He was involved in the same scheme as yours, Sophia.

Sophia's face falls, shocked and betrayed.

Why didn't you tell me?
