where the seeds of

great ideas are sown.

Darwin once lived here.

Newton's tree is just

around the corner.

As I sit back

and take in the history,

I can reflect on

what I've learned.

Even to the people

smarter than me,

the future will always

be mysterious.

There will always be

questions unanswered.

And I'm reminded of

Shakespeare's words.

"All the world's a stage,"

and all the men and

women merely players.

They have their exits

and their entrances,

and one man in his

time plays many parts.

His acts being seven ages.

Last scene of all,

that ends this strange

eventful history,

is second childishness

"and mere oblivion."

As Captain Kirk,

I was born in 2223,

200 years from now.

While I would love

to see that time,

and was born too soon,

I'm grateful for the small role

I have played in this discourse,

as captain of a starship

in the 23rd Century,

offering up a hopeful

vision of the future.

I have taken a journey

down the river of knowledge,

and I realize

that the truth is

not in the stars,

but in the minds of the

people who imagine a future

of infinite possibility.
