TomKat: Double Impact Page #3

Season #All
Synopsis: We describe our story as Jack Reacher meets Hanna with a touch of Thin Man savoir vivre tossed in. A story that had to be told. A love story of tremendous impact. A story of a small group of people willing to risk everything to stop the most serious threat to Western Civilization in modern history. There comes a time when a citizen must fulfill the requirements of the constitution if the government fails in its obligation. TomKat: Double Impact is one of these stories.

TOM:

I enjoy long-distance shooting. I

only have experience to 500 yards -- the distance of my backyard range.

JACKIE:

Five hundred yards! That's a long

shot.

TOM:

I want to double that distance

here. Carlos is an excellent teacher. He explains the triad of snipers: tactics, marksmanship and fieldcraft. I'm a good marksman, but knew little of tactics and fieldcraft. Carlos has drilled them into me during the last few weeks.

JACKIE:

Are you practicing today with the

Barrett?

TOM:

I'll be out there with Carlos at

five as usual.

JACKIE:

Do you mind if I watch?

EXT. THE THOUSAND YARD RANGE. DAY.

Tom receives final instructions from Carlos Rodriguez when Jackie Brandt walks up and sits in a chair behind them.

CARLOS:

Your target is that fiberglass

deer. It is exactly one thousand yards away. Now, you are thinking that you will have no problem hitting that deer. And I am sure you won't. However, your actual bullseye is the deer's "boiler room" – a circle of six inches diameter painted red behind the deer's shoulder. Are you ready?

Carlos sits down at a nearby chair looking through a spotting scope on a tripod. Tom assumes the prone position and prepares for the shots. Jackie leans forward on his chair.

13.

CARLOS Commence firing.

Tom takes his first shot.

CARLOS:

Bullseye!

Tom chambers the next round. He takes aim and fires.

CARLOS:

Bullseye!

Tom hits the bullseye with each of his ten shots.

Jackie walks up to Tom and Carlos

Tom looks

JACKIE:

Tom, that was out of this world

shooting. I never thought you were that good.

at Carlos Rodriguez.

TOM:

I have a great teacher.

INT. BARRACKS - LATE AFTERNOON.

Mad Anthony and the instructors ordered pizza and beer for a casual good-bye party. Tom gives his farewells to the guys and thanks to the instructors. He also generously tips the staff.

TOM:

(handing a check to

Anthony Wayne)

I hope it's enough Mr. Wayne. I know I used plenty of your expensive .50 caliber rounds.

ANTHONY:

(looking at the check)

This more than enough covers it. You are very generous. Thank you. I hope these two months were all you expected.

TOM:

You exceeded expectations. Thank

you.

14.

Jackie Brandt walks up as Anthony Wayne moves on.

JACKIE:

A few weeks ago you complimented

me, but you were the standout here. You may have been among the youngest, but certainly proved the most talented. What do you plan to do with those skills?

TOM:

I'm not sure, but I have some time

to think about it.

JACKIE:

Well good luck. I am sure we will

meet again.

EXT. PLANE LANDING AT BEN GURION AIRPORT OUTSIDE OF TEL AVIV, ISRAEL. - ESTABLISHING - DAY

INT. HOTEL ROOM. DAY.

Tom talks

to his parents on the phone.

TOM:

(Holding phone looking

out the window)

Yes, Mom I just arrived from India. India was interesting and, yes, I did see the Taj Majal.

AMELIA (V.O.)

Have you spoken to Reuven yet?

Your father asked Ariel to set the meeting with him.

TOM:

I spoke with him yesterday. We are

meeting downstairs in a half hour.

AMELIA (V.O.)

That's good, Thomas. I understand

from Ariel that he is a very interesting man. He worked for the Mossad for 30 years. He's retired now but loves to show visiting friends of Ariel around the country. He will be the perfect tour guide.

EXT. HOTEL - DAY

An outdoor bar overlooks the Tel Aviv beach.

Tom enters the bar area and looks for REUVAN BERMAN. He sees a man at a far table waving him over. Another man is

sitting opposite Reuven. Tom walks up hand as he approaches. Reuven walks up

extending his right to take Tom's hand.

you.

They walk

and turns

to the table. The other man rises around. It is Jackie Brandt.

REUVEN (CON'D)

I believe you have met Major

Jackson M. Brandt of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

TOM:

(Laughing)

No, but I know Jackie Brandt, CPA from San Bernardino.

from his chair

REUVEN:

Tom Ford. It is nice to meet

I want you to meet someone.

Jackie extends his hand which Tom shakes.

JACKIE:

That's not totally bogus, I do

have an accounting degree and was born, and still own the family house, in San Bernardino.

TOM:

I was always skeptical of your

quiet accountant from San Bernardino act.

JACKIE:

I understand, but I had no reason

to tell you the truth. I knew I would give you the real story if I ever saw you again.

A waitress stops by for their drink order.

REUVEN:

May I suggest we sample an Israeli

beer called Dancing Camel Goliath?

Both Tom Ford and Jackie Brandt nod as they laugh at the name. The waitress walks away.

16.

JACKIE:

We have kept an eye on you since

you shot those three brothers in New Hampshire.

TOM:

(Remaining Outwardly

Calm)

What are you talking about?

JACKIE:

Don't worry, we are not interested

in any criminal aspects of your little adventure. On the contrary, we marveled at the skill it took to hit three moving targets in under fifteen seconds at such a distance -- as the reports iterated.

TOM:

Who do you mean by we?

JACKIE:

Reuven will explain later.

Reuven nods. The waitress returns with the beer and passes them out. Each man takes a sip.

REUVEN:

How do you like the beer?

TOM:

It's excellent. I'll have to

remember it. Jackie takes a sip of beer.

JACKIE:

The local police and state

troopers had leads that you were among the dozen or so suspects but their hearts weren't into the investigation so they soon buried it under a pile of other cases. Frankly, they didn't want to find the shooter.

TOM:

This is surprising. I was never

questioned by the police.
