FADE OUT:
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM - DAY
JILL walks into the room, cluttered with BOBBY's (her son, 6) toys and JOEY is unpacking bags. The room is a mix of faded glory and current chaos.
JILL:
(muttering to herself)
F***ing unbelievable.
BOBBY plays on the floor, lost in his world of plastic trucks. JILL watches him, her eyes heavy with worry.
JOEY:
(struggling with a duffel bag zipper)
This damned zipper.
JILL's eyes meet JOEY's, clouded with anxiety.
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD HOME - LIVING ROOM - DAY
The intrusive sounds of a news channel spill from the TV.
TV NEWS ANCHOR:
(O.S.)
Senator Grayson has been exonerated of all charges…
JOEY:
Can't escape that bastard, can we?
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM - DAY
JILL's phone BUZZES. She picks it up and her face turns white.
JILL:
That son of a b*tch.
JOEY snatches the phone and HURLS it against the wall. The screen SHATTERS.
JOEY:
F***ing corrupt courts!
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM - DAY
BOBBY looks up, innocent and confused.
BOBBY:
Are you and Daddy yelling 'cause of me?
JILL kneels and hugs him tightly.
JILL:
No, sweetheart. Never because of you.
The door BURSTS open. It's RICHARD (JILL's dad, 60s), his face flushed and eyes wide.
RICHARD:
That Grayson prick is getting away with it! You guys are still in danger!
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM - DAY
JOEY abruptly stands up, his fists CLINCHED. A newfound determination ignites in JILL's eyes.
JOEY:
F*** this. We're not going down without a fight.
JILL:
Let's expose the bastard. Let's bring Grayson down.
INT. JILL & JOEY'S UNDERGROUND HACKER LAIR - NIGHT
An array of computers and hacking equipment. JILL and JOEY are on separate computers, typing away.
JOEY:
I'm in. Accessing Grayson's emails.
JILL hacks into a SECURITY CAMERA feed, showing SENATOR GRAYSON (50s, slick and corrupt) at his office, celebrating.
JILL:
Got a feed to Grayson's office. He's toasting champagne, the prick.
INT. SENATOR GRAYSON'S OFFICE - NIGHT
SENATOR GRAYSON sits at his desk. His computer SCREEN FLICKERS. Text appears: "We know what you did. The world will know too."
GRAYSON:
(panicked)
What the hell?
INT. JILL & JOEY'S UNDERGROUND HACKER LAIR - NIGHT
JILL hits a key and a wave of incriminating files begins UPLOADING to the cloud.
JILL:
I've uploaded everything. In three... two... one... and we're live.
INT. VARIOUS LOCATIONS - NIGHT
A MONTAGE of PEOPLE gasping, reading their phones, as news alerts about SENATOR GRAYSON's corruption spread.
INT. JILL'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM - DAY
JILL, JOEY, BOBBY, and RICHARD watch the TV. The news shows SENATOR GRAYSON being arrested.
TV NEWS ANCHOR:
Senator Grayson has been arrested following a massive leak of incriminating documents...
RICHARD:
You did it!
JOEY pulls JILL close, their eyes meeting.
JOEY:
We're in this together.
They embrace, knowing the storm isn't over, but for the first time, they're the ones controlling the wind.
