INT. STRUFFEL'S PARENTS' KITCHEN - MORNING

SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

Struffel is sitting at the kitchen table in the house. The kitchen clock shows it is 10 o'clock in the morning. He has his head on his hands as he sleeps on them. Shiny is by his side asleep too. There is a book on the table. It is open.

CLOSE ON:

Suddenly a loud noise is heard at a distant.

BANG!

Struffel lifts his head up in shock. His eyes are sleepy.

Shiny also wakes up. He looks around and goes back to sleep.

Struffel muses to himself. He is sure he had heard some noise. He shrugs his shoulders and continues to peek with his sleepy eyes.

STRUFFEL:

(Mumbles with his sleepy eyes open)

MMMmmm! Mmmmmm!

Struffel doesn’t seem to hear anything and he goes to sleep again.

MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

Again, the noise is heard.

BANG!

Startled, Struffel and Shiny both wake up and look around.

They see NOTHING.

MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

They both go back to sleep.

A third time, the noise is heard. This time it is a little louder and it is for about three seconds. It sounds like a clatter of noise.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

This time round, Struffel wakes up and walks over to the window. He peers outside and sees nothing.

He looks around the kitchen.

Nothing.

He shrugs his shoulders and goes back to sleep on the chair. Only this time he is leaning backwards on the chair, his mouth half open. His eyes closed and his hands resting lazily on his chest. He starts to drift more into sleep.

His hands move lazily on to his legs.

Shiny goes back to sleep too.

STRUFFEL:

(Totally asleep with drool coming from his mouth and a slight wheeze is coming from his nose.)

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

The noise is so loud!

MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

Struffel wakes up utterly shocked!

He is shaking. The noise was so loud.

Even Shiny wakes up and starts to bark.

He puts his fingers into his ears as though to check whether there is something in them or not. He is rubbing his eyes at the same time.

STRUFFEL:

(With a shaky voice)

What? Whaaaat isss thaaat?

SHINY:

(Barking loudly)

Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!

MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND

Struffel runs over to peer through the window. He leans over and stretches to be on his tippy toes. He peers on both sides of the window, frantically searching what could be outside.

Nothing.

He looks around the kitchen.

Nothing.

He wonders what it could be.

He starts to pace up and down the kitchen. His chest is pounding and he has his hands at his waist. He is shaking his head for he knows he had heard something but he can't figure out what it is.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

That's it! This totally freaks out Struffel.

Struffel screams, Shiny barks out loud.

STRUFFEL:

(Loudly...frantic)

AAaaaarggggh!!!! Aaaarrggggggh! Mooooooooooommmmmmm! Daaaaadddddddd!!! AAAaaaaaarrrrgggh!!!

AAaaaarggggh!!!! Aaaarrggggggh! Mooooooooooommmmmmm! Daaaaadddddddd!!! AAAaaaaaarrrrgggh!!!

SHINY:

(Barking loudly)

Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!

Struffel puts his hands on his ears. Faer, Kaylee, Grandma Oli, Grandpa Pete start laughing from behind the pantry door.

FAER:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

KAYLEE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDMA OLI:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDPA PETE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

Struffel runs to the door, opens it and finds them inside.

STRUFFEL:

(Appears quite mad. Angry eyes. Holding a pointing finger towards them. Speaks slowly, sharply through his clasped lips.)

YOUUUUU!!!!!!!

They are all laughing. Holding big pans and pots with cooking sticks. Struffel is not amused at all.

They all continue to laugh heartily.

Faer points out that is what Struffel got for pretending to read when he was fast asleep all the time.

FAER:

(Still laughing.. he is lifting his eyebrows up and down to indicate that he knows what Struffel has been up to.)

Is that what you call reading? Really? Aren’t you supposed to be reading?

They continue to bang their pots and pans with the cooking sticks.

FAER:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

KAYLEE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDMA OLI:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDPA PETE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

Suddenly, there is a big knock or thud at the door, and Struffel’s friends come rushing in.

Bang! Poof! Thud!

Struffel screams in utter shock again. He jumps up to see what is at the door. Shiny continues to bark and go around everyone.

STRUFFEL:

(Loudly...frantic. He holds his head as though to stop all the noise.)

AAaaaarggggh!!!!

SHINY:

(Barking loudly)

Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!

FAER:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

KAYLEE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDMA OLI:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDPA PETE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

LARRY:

(Loudly... with a wave at Struffel.)

Hi!

BRADY:

(Loudly... with a wave at Struffel.)

(Loudly... with a wave at Struffel.)

They have all stopped banging the pots and pans with the cooking spoons but they are still laughing. Smiles are on everyone's faces. Struffel finally gets a corky grin and looks at all of them in utter amazement.

FAER:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

KAYLEE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDMA OLI:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

GRANDPA PETE:

(Laughing out loud)

Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! Ha! Ha!

SHINY:

(Barking loudly)

Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!
