Mitch Davis is a film director noted for his 2001 film The Other Side of Heaven about the trials and adventures of an LDS Missionary, John H. Groberg.Davis is a Latter-day Saint and received a bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1982.He earned his master’s in film production from the University of Southern California. While working on his graduate degree, he worked as a creative executive at Disney and worked on Dead Poet’s Society (1989), White Fang (1991), The Rocketeer (1991), and Newsies (1992). He then worked as vice-president of development at Columbia’s Cash and Epps Entertainment production company. Davis wrote the Disney Channel film Windrunner (1994), which he was originally slated to direct, but was replaced in that role. After The Other Side of Heaven, he wrote and directed the romance A House Divided, a modern-day tale of Jewish man's undying love for a Palestinian woman in Israel. His 2015 feature, Christmas Eve, was an ensemble piece in the vein of Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve. His Christian family film The Stray, based on his own experiences, opened Oct. 6, 2017.
