Hazal – Hardly a fortune, I pay a monthly instalment to the dealership, come on let’s make our way to the party here are the keys.

The two drive a long Charlie, is enjoying the scenery, he opens the window blows smoke out of the window, switches on the radio, and puts it on a music channel.

Charlie – I’m not driving too fast am I Hazal.

Hazal – No not at all, I feel safe in your company, you’re just driving a little too close.

Charlie – Is that it, is that where your friend lives, I can see guests arriving,

Hazal – Yup that’s it, look its kay and her boyfriend, lets go and say hi.

Charlie sees Kay step out of her boyfriends Mercedes, her boyfriend is in his fifties, grey hair, distinguished looking, wealthy, Kay appears to be a trophy girl, to make him feel youthful.

Charlie enters the party with Hazal, they see and approach Christina the host and centre of attention, “you look beautiful Hazal, and who is this hansom young man you’re with.” Christian has already had a glass or two of fermented fruit, she smiles and offers her hand to Charlie, “my name is Christina and you are my honoured guest here tonight, I’ve always said Hazal has impeccable taste in men” Hazal reaches over and kisses Christina, “I know darling, but he’s the handsomest of them all” Charlie politely ask for something to drink.

Christina – Follow me, I have it all, you name it, I have it.

Hazal – Is Thomas here, I haven’t seen him in a while.

Christina – Haven’t you heard we separated, the slimeball, I don’t know what I saw in him.

Hazal – Oh well, never mind, you have quite a selection of single guys here.

Christina – They are all friends, or friends of friends, I’m not looking, hold on let me get Charlie his drink.

There is music in the background, a dance floor, a table of refreshments, snacks and all sorts. Charlie asks Hazal whether she’d like to share a table, with Kay and her boyfriend. “Sure, why not, just remember not to talk about work, she hates it” she grabs Charlie’s arm and walks towards Kay’s table, “surprise darling, you don’t mind of we sit here with you” before, she could provide an answer, Hazal and Charlie take their seat. “I don’t think you’ve met, Charlie this is Travis, Travis this is Charlie” the moment is quite awkward, Charlie is hiding his attraction for kay, and Travis appears to be condescending, “that’s a nice tie Charlie, is it silk” there is a tone voice which is belittling “no it isn’t, it’s cotton”, he replied after a long pause, “I used to work in tie rack in my youth, but I’ve moved on, I’m now a corporate business associate for a private limit company with excellent reputation for killer deals” Charlie makes an effort to appear amused by it. “That’s great, I may request your services”, “well here is my business card if you do” Charlie looks at the card, examines it then places it in his top pocket. “So, what is it you do Charlie” Travis sips his brandy, “I work at central park” a quick sharp reply, “That’s where we met”

Christina – Ok enough with the serious talk, I think we should dance.

Charlie – I’m up for the challenge, in fact I’m a dancing Wizkid.

Hazal – Is that so, well you’re going to have to prove it, come on Loverboy show me your moves.

The two make their way to the dance floor, there are several couples dancing to upbeat music, Kay and travis make their way and start to dance. The music changes to a slow song, careless whisper. They dance to the mood of the song for a while.

Hazal – You really are a good dancer, you see Travis over there, I think he just strangled Kay, look she can’t breathe, maybe we should call the ambulance.

Charlie – Don’t pay him any attention, I don’t particularly like him much

Hazal – I know he gives me the creeps.

The evening comes to an end, Charlie is intoxicated, so he gives the keys back to Hazal

Charlie – maybe you should drive us home, I may be over the limit, several times over.

Hazal – Drive me home baby, drive me home crazy.

Charlie – on second thoughts, maybe we should get a cab.

Hazal falls to the floor; she loses balance and is completely intoxicated. Charlie sees a cab and motions for it to stop. “Where to sir”, Charlie pulls out Hazals driving license and reads out the address to the cab driver. “No problem” the cab driver is an African American, similar age to Charlie.

Charlie – You know you look familiar to me Mr; I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere.

Cabi – A lot of people have seen me, I can’t remember a lot of them, I drive for a living.

Charlie – Did you serve in the armed services.

Cabi – Yes sir, I did my bit for my country, why do you ask.

Charlie – Where you stationed in the Ukraine, 2023 or there abouts.

Cabi – Yes sir I did, I was wounded, took two Russian made bullets to my abdomen, and was forced to retire, couldn’t move a muscle for a year, I still can’t breathe right, or do much physical activity.

Charlie – Well that’s it, that’s where I remember you from, we might have had the same unit commander, you know a man called Mustafa.

Cabi – I’ve known a lot of Mustafas, my unit commander was a real son of a b*tch, he committed suicide, for unlawfully executing serves men, and imprisoning a few soldiers to. He had a real bad reputation, he committed suicide, a few years ago, an investigation was opened, and they found a lot of dirt on him, I mean a lot.

Charlie reaches over and touches the driver on the shoulder, “I think we should have a drink sometime” Charlie feels a closeness to him, they soon reach their destination, “how much do I owe you” he looks to his left and see Hazal half asleep, “normally I charge thirty dollars, but for you, it’s twenty dollars,” Charlie laughs and accepts the offer gladly”.

Charlie – Hazal come on get up, we’re here, Hazal get up now.

Hazal – Where are we, where am I, oh God I feel dizzy, where are my shoes.

Charlie – Here are you shoes, I’ll pick you up, but I don’t know if I should come in.

Hazal – Feel at home, just make a cup of coffee, or get me a glass of cola.

The time is around 2am, Hazal walks into here bedroom, Charlie sleeps on the living room floor. Charlie makes breakfast for himself and Hazal, “I smell toast” Hazal says as she walks out of her bedroom in her night ware. “I’ve made breakfast for two” Charlie lights a cigarette and drinks his morning coffee. “You’re so caring Charlie” she looks at him, while sipping her morning coffee.

Charlie – I really enjoyed myself last night, I just wish we didn’t drink so much.

Hazal – I know, I regret that to, we’ve got work tomorrow, early shift, you can stay the night if you like.

Charlie – I don’t think that would be wise, I’ll make my way soon.

Hazal – You have a thing for Kay don’t you, I noticed last night, you kept on looking at her.

Charlie – Not true, besides, she is in a relationship with someone.

Hazal – Was in a relationship with someone, they separated.

Charlie – How do you know that.

Hazal – She sent me a text message this morning, she wrote “I’ve separated from the bastard”.
