CUT TO:

[The scene opens with Bader, Everleigh, and Caleb Johnston at the school cafeteria.]

Bader:
(excitedly) Hey guys, let's go grab a slice of pizza!

[Cuts to Bader, and his friends walking towards the pizza counter.]

Bader:
(accidentally bumping into Tashi) Oops, sorry, Tashi.

Tashi:
(smirking) Watch where you're going, loser.

[Tashi and her Goons take Bader's bus pass and $10.]

Tashi:
(tauntingly) You'll get these back after school. Be ready!

Bader:
Ugh, why does she always have to mess with me?

Michael:
dude This is crazy, man. How are you going to get your stuff back?

Bader:
Don't worry, I have a plan. Fights usually get split up quickly. I just need to land a good first punch.

[After school, Bader heads to the meeting spot where Tashi is waiting.]

Bader:
(nervously) Alright, Tashi, I'm here! Let's settle this.

Nastya:
you got this buddy

[Tashi smirks and walks towards Bader. Bader quickly throws a punch, knocking Tashi down.]

Bader:
See? It's over, right?

[Tashi gets up and the fight ensues, lasting longer than expected.]

Bader:
(struggling) This...this should be over any minute.

[Cuts to a cop walking by, not interfering with the fight.]

Bader:
(to himself) Guess he thinks we'll sort it out on our own.

[Tashi gains the upper hand and starts strangling Bader while kicking him below the belt.]

Bader:
(gasping) You...won't...get away with this!

[The fight continues until Bader manages to stomp on Tashi's toe, allowing him to snatch his bus pass back.]

Bader:
(holding his bus pass) Ha! Got it!

[Tashi and her goons chase after Bader as he starts running for his life, trying to catch the bus.]

henry:
(yelling) Come on, Bader, run for your life you can make it!

[Cuts to Bader reaching the bus just in time.]

Bader:
(relieved) Made it to the bus. This could have been really bad.

[The bus drives off, leaving Tashi and her goons behind.]

CUT TO:

EXT. SUBURBAN HOUSE - DAY

Bader races towards his house, bus pass in hand, but Shaikha is standing in his way.

SHAIKHA:
(screaming)

Bader gestures wildly for her to be quiet, and she lets out a little whimper.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

Bader sneaks in, trying not to attract Caleb’s attention. He kicks off his shoes, which are covered in mud, and wipes them on the doormat. He opens the fridge and sees a giant piece of chicken.

BADER:
(smiling) Score.

He sits down at the table and quickly devours the chicken.

CUT TO:

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

Annie and Caleb are sitting on the couch, watching TV.

CALEB:
(sleepy) Is it already 5:00?

ANNIE:
(exasperated) Yes, it is. You need to put that chicken in the oven.

CALEB:
(half-asleep) Got it. I’ll do it now.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

Caleb opens the fridge, but his face falls when he sees the chicken is missing.

Caleb Reynolds grumbles as he sticks a “thumbstick” of chicken in the oven.

ANNIE:
(angry talking to bader) Haven’t I told you do not eat the biggest piece of chicken

BADER:
but I was still hungry

ANNIE:
do you see how big he is? I didn’t want him to go to work hungry because if he goes to work hungry he will be grouchy if he is grouchy he will call his bus cracker and if he calls his boss cracker then we will be living in the projects listen just do not eat the biggest piece of chicken OK?

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Annie and Caleb Reynolds sit across from each other, eating their meals.

ANNIE:
Can we afford this steak? The bills are really starting to pile up.

CALEB R:
(resigned) We have to eat, don’t we?

ANNIE:
I know, but-

CUT TO:

INT. BADER’S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Bader lies in bed, feeling guilty. He tosses and turns, but eventually falls asleep.

Caleb Reynolds finishes his meal and has to leave for his second job and goes to bader’s room to check on him.

CALEB R:
(to Bader) See you later, buddy. Don’t forget to unplug the alarm clock before you leave.

BADER:
(nodding) Okay, Caleb.

Caleb Reynolds slips Bader a $20 bill, telling him not to tell Annie. Bader happily pockets the money and waves goodbye to Caleb.

Bader runs back to his room to unplug the alarm clock, but he overhears Annie talking to herself in the bathroom.

ANNIE:
(frustrated) What the hell happened to my towel?

Bader realizes he must have used Annie’s towel to clean his shoes. The scene pauses and fades to black.

FADE OUT.
