EXT. DETECTIVE RODGERS HOME - MOMENTS LATER

Rodgers pull in his driveway and before he gets out of the car, he

prays hoping better days will be ahead

Detective Rodgers walks into his wife when he sees his wife drinking

wine watching tv looking exhausted.

RODGERS:

You didn’t have to wait up for me

REBECCA:

But I wanted to

RODGERS:

Well you shouldn’t

REBECCA:

How didn’t it go

RODGERS:

You don’t want to know

Rodgers gets the glass of wine and puts it in the kitchen where he sees

the trash almost full.

REBECCA:

Yeah while you in there can you

take the trash out

RODGERS:

Yeah, yeah, I guess so

Rebecca gets up from the couch and walks upstairs to her bedroom.

REBECCA:

HURRY UP!

RODGERS:

Of course

Rodgers gets the trash to take outside.

He goes upstairs, and changes to some sleep attire and lays beside his

wife till he falls asleep.

INT. BEDROOM -LATER

There’s a ring at the door.

Rebecca Rodgers taps him on his side.

REBECCA:

Someone’s at the door

Rodgers wakes up check his clock beside the bed and says its 2 am.

REBECCA:

Watch your mouth now go see who it

is

Rodgers gets up, wiping the crust out of his eye. He walks downstairs

to open the door.

Rodger looks down and sees a letter at his feet. THE LETTER

Congrats on your long-term commitment to this town and to your

department. You’re the real hero, but success comes with a price. Are

you willing to lose something to achieve the greatest of heights. Well

if you are, I’ll see you soon
