Emperor Zakrov
It’s a beautiful summers day, the sky is blue, no cloud in sight, a young man with his luggage steps out of a taxi, hands the driver money for his service, thanks him and walks away towards the airport.
Airport announcer – Ladies and gentlemen, please do not leave your luggage unattended, if you see anything suspicious, please report it to the airport security team.
Airport staff – Excuse me Mr, you dropped your Airline ticket.
Hans Miller – Oh God, thank you.
A young woman is having trouble walking down the stairs with her luggage, Hans offers her help and carry’s her luggage for her.
Lizy Fay – Thank you so much, I didn’t think I packed that much.
Hans – My pleasure.
Lizy – Do you know where gate four is, for departure.
Hans – Yes, I do know, that’s where I’m heading.
Lizy – No way, you’re heading to Chicago.?
Hans – I am, I’ve been away for one month now.
Lizy – It’s where you live.?
Hans – Yes, I work for construction, I have a contract with a company that sends me all over the place.
Lizy – Is that right, you don’t look like the construction worker type of guy.
Hans – What does a construction worker look like, I also teach Karate, but that’s mostly in the evenings when work permits me. How about you, are you on business.?
Lizy – No not exactly, I’m visiting my parents, I’m a journalist, I have some time off.
Hans – That’s great, my name is Hans.
Lizy – Nice to meet you, I’m Lizy.
Hans - You know the plane isn’t about to take off yet, we have an hour, how about I buy you coffee while we wait.
Lizy – Ok that would be nice, I could do with company, but I better check in first and hand over my luggage.
Hans – Yes good idea, me to.
Lizy and Hans make their way to Costa Coffee at the airport, Hans orders and pays for the drinks, they take their seat and begin to converse.
Airport announcer – All passengers departing to Chicago on flight 4289A please make your way to gate four, the flight is due in twenty minutes.
Hans – That’s us, I think we should make our way.
Lizy – I think you’re right.
Ticket inspector – Can I see your passport please madam, thank you, can I see your passport sir, thank you.
Hans – I’ve been given seat 32c.
Lizy – I have seat 65e.
Hans – Have a pleasant flight.
Lizy – Wait maybe we could meet later.
Hans – Sure, why not.
The flight is like any other flight, the young, the old, men, women and children, the plane takes off, and everything seems to be going well, Hans reads a book, Lizy is looking out the window. The flight takes longer than usual, but no one is yet concerned. The flight takes an hour longer when passengers begin to ask question.
Passenger – Excuse me madam but why are we taking so long.
Air stewardess – We must take a slightly different root, to avoid bad weather, it’s standard procedure.
The flight takes a lot longer than expected, several passengers are seen getting out of their seat and head towards the captain’s cockpit. The rest of the passengers are alarmed, that the flight has taken twice as long, six hours in total.
Hans – Lizy, I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to tell you, I think something has gone horribly wrong.
Lizy – You’re telling me, we should have landed hours ago.
Air steward – Mr can you please take your seat.
Hans – Not until you tell me what is going on, this is not right.
Air steward – The captain will make an announcement soon, please take your seat.
Hans reluctantly returns to his seat, Lizy looks alarmed. The flight takes a sudden unexpected turn, the captain makes his announcement, ladies and gentlemen please fasten your seatbelt we will be landing shortly. Just as the announcement comes to an end several men exit the captain’s office heavily armed with machine guns. Passengers are heard screaming. Cabin crew are forced onto the ground by the armed men.
Captain – Remain in your seats, anyone who fails to obey orders will be killed.
The armed men are speaking German to each other, one of them has a Nazi swastika arm band on, they begin to take strategic places just before landing.
Passenger – Hey what the hell is going on.
Armed guard – Shut up, sit back down or I will kill you.
The plane eventually lands, the plane then makes its way on the runway towards a large cargo area, it’s late at night, it’s foggy, all that can be seen are red and blue flashing lights, from awaiting vehicles. The passengers are ordered to exit the plane, and enter the awaiting vehicles, heavily armed men surround the area, they are taken to an unknown place an hour journey from where they landed. One of the passengers is a wrestler, an American wrestler a national champion, he is tall and muscular, his name is Jay Reed.
Lizy – Hans over here.
Hans – This is a nightmare.
Jay – This doesn’t look like Chicago.
Lizy – What are they going to do with us.
Armed men – You will each be given an arm band, it will have your personal identification number, all instruction will be given on a need-to-know basis. You are the chosen ones.
Captain – My name is Wilhelm Gor, captain Wilhelm Gor, I oversee this operation. You have all been selected for our space program mission, over a period of three months we will be conducting experiments in our laboratory for our space mission. That is all you need to know for now.
All the passengers are given their arm bands and uniform, a meal and a sleeping bag. The following day passengers are shown into the laboratory, it is a replica of a VIP lounge that is to be built in space for a space craft the size of a football stadium hosting select VIP for fifty to a hundred years in outer space. The captured are in a state of panic as they look at the space craft, it has inbuilt medical wards, garden, artificial water fountain, library, gym, canteen, sleeping quarters, plants, trees, playgrounds. A group of scientists appear and begin to explain their mission.
Scientist – My name is Victor Stern, you see before you the future, I am the chief scientist in the creation of the artificial gravity, we need to make sure that our mission will succeed, you have all been selected for that purpose. We must find out if humans can survive in our spaceship. We will be conducting this experiment on all of you soon, consider yourselves lucky.
Jay – Luck, none of us consented to this madness, Mr Stern.
Victor Stern – What is your name.
Jay – Jay Reed.
Victor – We are at war with the United States Mr Reed, you are our prisoner, if you interrupt me once more, I’ll have you killed.
Jay – You’re going to kill us anyway.
Victor – Indeed.
Jay – I’m not scared of them.
Hans – Ok, but keep it cool, we’ll find a way out of this hell whole.
Lizy – Think of something fast, I don’t think we have much time.
Hans – There aren’t too many of them, where there is a will there is a way, right Jay.
Jay – Right, I’m with you all the way.
Hans – We need to locate the exits, there must be one.
Jay – Keep it down they might hear us.
Jay and Hans device a cunning plan of escape, it involves finding all the exits, fighting the guards and then taking their uniforms and weapon. The guards, like everyone else have their break from work, they will jump two of them and take their motorbikes while they are on their break. Once they have done that, they should be able to make their way out through the exit under disguise.
