INT. TUNNEL – CISTERN – MINGO CITY
The SHARKMEN and their captives travel through a long tunnel coming out to –
Into the beautiful, yet strange, sea bottom of ZODAN. It is abundant with life both floral and aquatic. Multitudes of fish swim about as florescent coral looms as large as mountain ranges.
The group comes to the cliff of a ravine and once passing over it, reveals the splendor of the undersea city CORALIA. Of spectacular art-deco design, the lit-up glass spires and chrome towers brilliantly illuminate the gloom of the flat sea bottom.

INT. DOCK - CISTERN – WATER – MINGO CITY
At the dock where the SHARKMEN abducted FLASH and DALE, AURA leads THUN out of a side entrance onto the stone pier.
THUN:
Are you certain they had to come this way?
AURA points at the stone deck. She picks up a small trinket of jewelry.
AURA:
Look, lionman. This must have been dropped by that earth wench, I am certain they came this way. Without a doubt, abducted by the SHARKMEN and taken to their underwater palace.
THUN:
Which leads to the question, how do we follow them?
AURA enters the dock. She stands at the entrance and points to something.
AURA:
In that hydrocycle.
THUN stands with her in the doorway. He reacts to the sleek, chrome, finned hydrocycle parked in the middle of the dry dock. It is resting on support clamps. The side hatch to the small craft is open.
THUN:
By the Fire Gems!
AURA:
Are you capable of piloting that, lionman?
THUN:
As certain as your father is an insufferable tyrant, princess.
They enter the sub.
INT. HYDROCYCLE – DOCK – CISTERN – MINGO CITY
The small sub is cramped. AURA and THUN take the two seats at the control board. THUN looks over the controls.
AURA:
Why do you hesitate, lionman? I thought you could pilot this.
THUN:
Give me a moment to become familiar with the controls.
AURA:
I knew better than to rely on one of you mutated savages, I should have just...
THUN:
If you do not shut up, she-b*tch, I will feed you to the razor-whales myself!
AURA:
How dare you speak to me in that tone, lionman!
THUN:
Or you’ll do what, princess? Run back to daddy and have him torch my kingdom? Blah, blah, blah. I’ve heard it countless times before and it’s become stale! Killing you here and now would be an asset to every living being on Mongo. The only thing that stays my claws is the retribution of your death from your dear Prince Barin and his hunters...
During this, THUN is flipping switches and pushing buttons. The engines hum to life.
Vents in the walls open and water comes rushing in and submerging the hydrocycle. The drydock doors slide open. The HYDROCYCLE shoots out of the dock into open water.
INT. HYDROCYCLE – DOCK – CISTERN – MINGO CITY
THUN pilots the hydrocycle.
THUN:
Happy, your highness? Now, shut up and only speak when spoken to.
AURA sits, arms crossed.
AURA:
How dare you. (she points out the port.) There! That tunnel leads directly out to sea and to Kala’s palace.
The tiny hydrocycle exits the tunnel into the sea. They are suddenly chased by an enormous RAZORCLAW FISH!
INT. HYDROCYCLE – SEA OF ZODAN
An alarm begins to sound. The lights of the control board go red.
THUN:
A razor claw! Hold on, your highness!
THUN takes the steering wheel of the sub.
The HYDROCYCLE skillfully glides and weaves between mountains of coral. The RAZORCLAW FISH, twice its size, remains in hot pursuit.
INT. HYDROCYCLE
THUN desperately pilots the sub.
AURA:
(panicking)
It’s catching up to us! We’re going to die! Faster, lionman, faster!
THUN:
Will you shut up?!
The RAZORCLAW is almost upon them. It opens its wide mouth revealing several rows of crystalline teeth. Suddenly! A WHALESHARK bursts in from the side and sinks its massive teeth into the RAZORCLAW’S abdomen. The surrounding water is polluted with plumes of blood.
INT. HYDROCYCLE
Reaction shot of THUN and AURA as they glance out the back viewport.
THUN:
By the gods! An octosak!
EXT. SEA OF ZODAN
A multitude of black and writhing tentacles reach up and grasp the mighty WHALESHARK. The tentacles drag the struggling WHALESHARK down into a gaping maw of jagged teeth. CHOMP! The WHALECLAW is devoured.
INT:
HYDROCYCLEReaction of THUN and AURA.
THUN:
Let us make some distance from that octosak before it decides on dessert. Which way to the sharkmen?
AURA points out the porthole.
AURA:
Not bad, lionman. I may have your kingdom spared after all. (she glances out the porthole) South by southwest, across the Ravine of Shadows.
The small HYDROCYCLE travels away and through the murky depths of the sea.
WHIPE TO:
Establishing shot of the SHARKMAN PALACE.
INT. KALA’S THRONE ROOM – CORALIA
The throne room is a magnificent hall of coral pillars and great glass domes with panoramic views of the city and the surrounding sea.
Sitting on a jeweled throne carved from a single pink coral is the bloated KING KALA. Leading up to the throne is a row of twenty SHARKMEN holding silver spears, standing at attention.
There is a resounding GONG as FLASH and DALE are led from the entrance to the dias of the throne.
KING KALA sneers and glares down at DALE.
KALA:
His supreme intelligence, Ming the merciless, ruler of the universe has decreed that you, Dale Arden, be returned to him at once. His order shall be obeyed.
DALE:
I’m not going back to that psycho!
FLASH:
(to KALA)
Why?
KALA:
One does not question the orders of Ming, they are obeyed!
FLASH:
Obeyed by you and other weak puppets?
KALA:
I am King Kala, boy!
FLASH:
You? You call yourself a king? You are a bloated coward. You tremble at the name of Ming and dare call yourself a king?
KALA:
Coward?! I could crush you with my bare hands!
FLASH:
If I could be easily killed by a fat bastard like you, I’d welcome death.
Infuriated, KALA rises and flings off his cloak.
KALA:
Then prepare yourself for truth, earthman!
KING KALA leaps at FLASH and they both FLY into the center of the throne room, CRASHING onto a coral table in front of the steps leading to the throne.
These two wildcats go at each other savagely, TUMBLING OVER a large marble table, landing together on the hard tile floor.
KING KALA KICKS FLASH, sending him CRASHING backward into a small glass table where expensive vases and sea trinkets are kept.
FLASH scrambles up on his feet, but is caught by a FLYING TACKLE from behind by KING KALA that sends them both into an ornamental iron and tempered-glass bookcase...FLASH and KING KALA CRASH THROUGH all this reducing everything to rubble.
They land hard on the floor covered in broken glass, locked in a grapple, each trying to get the best of the other one ...When KING KALA HEADBUTTS FLASH in the nose. Wrestling and grappling, FLASH pins KALA on his back and begins a series of violent punches on KALA’S shark-like face.
