The surrounding SHARKMEN see that their king is losing. They begin to step forward, drawing their swords. FLASH hops off KALA, staggering.

KALA lies on the floor, propped up on his elbows. Both are panting, smeared in blood and sweat.

KALA:

(to his men)

Back! I said I could kill him and I will kill him!

FLASH:

What? With your hands, if that’s the best you can do, your highness.

KALA:

(to his men)

The vibro-daggers!

As KALA gets to his feet, a SHARKMAN brings FLASH and KALA a huge bowie-knife-like dagger each. FLASH examines the hilt. There is a small button. He pushes it and the blade hums and vibrates into a blur.

Blood and sweat drip off of the faces of the two men locked in life-and-death combat.

FLASH and KING KALA begin to circle each other.

KING KALA:

You're dead, earthman, DEAD!

He feints with the knife toward FLASH.

DALE watches the fight in horror.

KING KALA jabs with his knife and SLASHES FLASH, causing a bloody cut. KALA jabs again. This time FLASH parries the jab, and SLASHES KING KALA, causing a bloody cut on him. They circle each other again, FEINTING jabs at each other.

KALA STABS at FLASH and FLASH grabs his wrist. With his free hand, FLASH STABS at KALA and KALA grabs FLASH's wrist. They are locked hand in hand, staring death into each other’s eyes.

Suddenly FLASH falls backward to the ground, pulling KING KALA with him and FLIPS KALA over him HARD to the tiled floor. FLASH jumps up quickly to finish KALA. FLASH immediately grabs KALA's knife hand around the wrist, then SINKS his own knife into KALA’S SHOULDER. KALA drops his vibro-blade.

KALA:

AAAHHH!

FLASH:

Enough, Kala! You lost! Let us free!

Bloodied and covered in sweat, FLASH backs off and returns to DALE’S side.

SHARKMEN surround their king and help him to his feet. KALA staggers to the steps leading to the throne, where he collapses. Grasping his wound, he glares at FLASH.

KALA:

You are the first to ever beat me in physical combat. With that, I salute you. (He nods his head in admiration. Then to the surrounding SHARKMEN) See to it that they are both released tomorrow morning. (To FLASH) My doctors will tend to your wounds as the earth girl will await you in the comfort of the apartment suites reserved for my most honored dignitaries. There, she will receive food and rest.

FLASH:

Thank you, Kala.

Two SHARKWOMEN approach and stand on either side of DALE. Flash comforts her.

FLASH:

You go on ahead, Dale. Don’t worry, everything’s going to be all right.

DALE is led off. KING KALA leers as FLASH is taken away by a SHARKMAN escort.

INT. APARTMENT SUITE – CORALIA

DALE is escorted into a luxurious room. On a table sits a vast buffet of steaming seafood, jugs of water, and fruits. There is an immense bed of silks. The SHARKWOMAN motions toward the table.

SHARKWOMAN:

You may rest here, earthwoman. Please sate your hunger. You will be reunited with the earthman after his wounds have been healed by our physicians.

DALE:

(nervous)

Thank you.

The SHARKWOMAN leaves, closing the door behind her. DALE looks about the room, then at the door. It is obvious she is concerned about FLASH.

INT. THRONE ROOM – CORALIA

KING KALA stands in front of his throne. He is livid. He angrily tosses his vibro-dagger to the floor.

INT. HALLWAY – CORALIA

FLASH is led down a hallway by four SHARKMEN. One stops at a thick, steel door that resembles a hatch to a submarine. He motions to FLASH to step inside.

SHARKMAN:

Enter here, earthman. The medics will be with you momentarily. Afterward, we will escort you back to your earthwoman.

FLASH stands at the door. It is dark inside. He hesitates. The four SHARKMEN grab him and TOSS him into the room.

INT. WATER ROOM – CORALIA

FLASH tumbles into the room. The door hatch is SLAMMED SHUT before he can get up. FLASH runs to the hatch and begins to bang on it in vain.

FLASH:

Open up! What’s going on?

INT. THRONE ROOM – CORALIA

Seething, KALA flings on his cloak. He walks over to a set of large blue velvet curtains. They open to reveal an ante-room. The room comprises of a control board with a monitor, several levers, and a glassed port hole in the wall. KALA pulls one of the levers.

INT. WATER ROOM – CORALIA

On either side of the bare room, sea water begins gushing out from grates near the ceiling. FLASH reacts. He runs over to the circular glass port hole in the wall and sees KALA on the other side, leering.

KALA:

No man can pit his strength against the great Killer Kala and live.

FLASH:

You a**hole! Let me out of here!

The glass to the port window is so thick, they do not hear one another. FLASH runs over to the door again and pounds on it in vain.

INT. APARTMENT SUITE – CORALIA

DALE cracks open the door to her apartment. We see she is on a mezzanine overlooking the throne room. She exits the room and silently creeps down the staircase to the throne room, hiding behind a pillar. She watches KALA.

INT. WATER ROOM – CORALIA

Flash is hip deep in water and it is RISING RAPIDLY.

INT. ANTE-ROOM – CORALIA

KALA flips a switch and turns a dial. The monitor buzzes. The face which appears on the screen is the sneering MING THE MERCILESS. KALA bows at the image.

KALA:

You’re majesty, I have taken the earth people prisoner as you commanded.

DALE reacts. She is pissed.

MING:

Excellent. My daughter also is fleeing to your kingdom. Watch for her and send her back.

KALA:

It will be as you command, my emperor!

MING:

Do not fail in this, Kala.

The screen goes black. DALE runs over to KALA.

DALE:

You ARE a coward! Where’s Flash? What are you doing with him?

KALA snarls, grabs DALE by the arm, and spins her around to the glass port hole.

KALA:

Look!

INT. WATER ROOM – CORALIA

FLASH is now treading water. As the water rises, he sees the ceiling getting closer.

INT. ANTE-ROOM – CORALIA

DALE bangs on the glass port hole.

DALE:

Flash! Flash!

KALA turns and pulls a lever.

INT. WATER ROOM – CORALIA

FLASH cannot hear DALE. A circular grate in the floor slides opens and a ganglia of dark tentacles writhe out. FLASH is treading water unaware of the approaching octosak.

ANGLE – we see in the murky water FLASH’S kicking legs. A thick tentacle reaches up and grabs it -DALE screams.

FLASH is yanked underwater down to the hole. We see a great maw of jagged teeth from an open mouth. FLASH struggles to free himself as more sinewy tentacles wrap around his twisting body.
