Establishing shot of Mingo City. Its crimson spires are a striking contrast to the surrounding black and jagged rock and ever-cloudy, grey skies.
INT. MING’S LABORATORIES – MINGO CITY
ZARKOV sits in front of a huge radio apparatus. He skillfully turns nobs, adjusting the frequency. The radio begins a static SOUND as ZARKOV adjusts a knob. The radio begins beeping morse code.
ZARKOV places his ear close to the large mesh speaker/receiver.
ZARKOV:
Hello? Hello? This is Zarkov. Dr. Hans Zarkov. Is there anyone on earth who is receiving this?
He adjusts dials.
EXT. N.O.R.A.D. - CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN
At night, a torrential rainstorm falls upon a dark military base.
INT. N.O.R.A.D. - CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN
At a large console, a TECHNICIAN hunches over intently listening to his headset. It is the strange code – faint and static – ZARKOV was transmitting from Mongo.
The TECHNICIAN types into his computer. Figures scroll and a computer display reveals the signal is coming from Mongo.
TECHNICIAN:
No. No. No. That’s crazy!
He jumps up and runs down the hall.
TECHNICIAN:
Commander! Commander!
INT. MING’S LABORATORY – MINGO CITY
ZARKOV is desperately determined.
ZARKOV:
This is Dr. Hans Zarkov speaking! From Mongo! I’m on the comet heading towards earth! Is anyone receiving this transmission?
EXT. WASHINGTON D.C. - PENTAGON - DAY
Establishing.
INT. MISSION CONTROL
PROFESSOR GORDON stands in the room among the bustling activity. He reads over a printout handed to him. GENERAL BURTON approaches PROFESSOR GORDON.
BURTON:
What do you make of it, Professor Gordon?
PROF. GORDON:
The sounds are faint. It is some sort of manufactured code and definitely not a natural phenomenon. I believe the sounds we are receiving are signals from that stray planet.
BURTON:
You’re to tell me someone from another planet is attempting to signal us?
PROF. GORDON:
Without a doubt. The signal was extremely weak and suddenly cut off. But the computations are correct. The signal unquestionably emanated from that planet.
INT. MING’S LABORATORY – MINGO CITY
ZARKOV listens intently to static on the radio. Nothing. He is DISTRACTED when he hears the clanking of approaching MECHANICAL MEN. ZARKOV quickly switches off the radio and throws a lever on the wall. A huge, Frankenstein-like Jacob’s Ladder begins sparking. ZARKOV acts as if he’s paying attention to its readouts.
MING enters the laboratory followed by two MECHANICAL MEN holding rifles.
ZARKOV bows.
ZARKOV:
Your majesty.
MING:
Making progress, doctor?
ZARKOV:
I believe so. I have discovered a new ray. A variation in the spectrum you have been using. Being of a higher frequency, therefore it is more flexible.
MING:
Explain.
ZARKOV:
I have devised a way to enhance the sub-atomic gravitational forces you have discovered by using the irradiated isotopes from your mined ore. This force, which powers your planet, and you apparently control.
MING:
Indeed, a force absolutely in my power, doctor! With it, I have temporarily halted the path of this planet to your Earth as I prepare my forces for invasion.
ZARKOV:
You will not win. We will fight you! On land, on sea...
With a crazed look, MING looms over ZARKOV, grabbing the doctor by the throat.
MING:
You fool, I will conquer your seas, your air, your earth, the entire universe will be mine!

EXT. CORALIA – SEA OF ZODAN – MONGO
Establishing shot of Coralia.
INT. CORALIA – HALLWAY – DYNAMO ROOM
AURA and FLASH race down a hall. They come to the DYNAMO ROOM. A large, vaulted area housing huge electric generators and pump mechanisms. As with the rest of the planet, the machines are a unique blend of 1920s design mixed with high-tech.
FLASH and AURA duck behind a hatch door. We see through the entrance a lone SHARKMAN working a huge control panel of switches, dials, and wires.
AURA:
The city’s pump control room. We must kill that sharkman.
FLASH:
Kill him? Why?
AURA:
It will aid in our escape. We can reach a way to the surface through this room.
FLASH:
I’ll take him down. But, I’m not going to kill him.
Five massive generators buzz turning great pistons that pump giant machines. The SHARKMAN stands and operates the controls on the board.
FLASH sneaks up behind the SHARKMAN and overpowers him. They struggle. The SHARKMAN retrieves a ray pistol from a shelf. FLASH grabs him by the wrists. The SHARKMAN drops the gun.
He begins swinging, punching at FLASH. They fight, hitting each other with their fists.
AURA sees the RAY GUN on the floor and picks it up.
The SHARKMAN has pinned FLASH against the wall. The MUTANT draws his sword and as he is about to slash at FLASH, AURA fires a ray beam at the control board. It spits SPARKS AND BURSTS into flame.
The nearest dynamo begins SPARKING like a tesla coil and EXPLODES flinging FLASH and the SHARKMAN across the room.
The other dynamos stop spinning and the pumps HALT.
INT. ANTE-ROOM – CORALIA
THUN and DALE stand with KALA at gunpoint. KALA sneers at THUN.
KALA:
You will regret this invasion of my kingdom, lionman. Once Ming hears of your treachery, he will lay waste to your entire country.
THUN:
If there are to be any regrets, sharkman, you won’t live long enough to see them.
Suddenly, the lights FLICKER, and the palace shudders. KALA glances at the control panel.
A SHARKMAN enters the ante-room. He is shocked to see KALA being held at gunpoint by THUN.
SHARKMAN:
Your majesty?
KALA and the others turn to the confused SHARKMAN.
SHARKMAN:
A thousand pardons for my trespassing, your majesty. The pump dynamos have been destroyed.
KALA:
Just don’t stand there! Call the guards! Activate the alarms!
THUN turns and SHOOTS the SHARKMAN. The red energy beam reduces him to smoldering ashes. He points the gun back at KALA.
THUN:
You are not activating anything, your majesty!
Amid the smoke and debris, FLASH lies on the floor against the wall he was thrown. He looks over and sees the dead SHARKMAN impaled by an EXPOSED GIRDER.
AURA runs over to FLASH. He snatches the gun out of her hand and throws it aside in anger.
FLASH:
(angry)
What the hell did you do?
AURA:
I destroyed the controls to the dynamo generators powering the air and pressure pumps to the palace.
FLASH:
What? Why?!
AURA:
Kala must pay for what he has done.
FLASH:
What of Dale and Thun? Did they even make it out of the city, yet?
AURA:
You mustn’t think of them now.
Frustrated and seeing in her face that she was now lying, FLASH grabs AURA by the shoulders.
FLASH:
Kala still has them, doesn’t he? Goddamit, Aura!
FLASH pushes her aside and runs out.
AURA:
No! You haven’t a chance! They’re lost to him!
She follows after FLASH.
INT. ANTE-ROOM – CORALIA
The lights FLICKER sporadically. The glass dome and glass walls of the palace begin to CRACK loudly. WATER starts seeping in.
KALA glances at the control board.
KALA:
The dynamo generators! Without them, the city will implode!
KALA reaches for a lever. THUN snarls and points the ray gun at KALA’S face.
