Dr. Staple:
These patients were very disturbed. Let me just simply state, everything that occurred was related to drugs in their systems or their heightened state of mania. For the patients' privacy, let's keep what happened in this building and this parking lot to ourselves.[In a restaurant, we see some people getting ready to leave. On a nearby television, we hear a snippet of a news bulletin]
Newscaster:
...general public alike. Opening ceremonies have concluded, but from the looks on the faces of the thousand...[When the outsiders have left the restaurant, the door is closed. Everyone goes quiet when Dr. Staple stands up]
Dr. Staple:
All three were real. Quite special, actually. If you approve, I will move to the next city.Female Cult Member: Will there be any repercussions?
Dr. Staple:
No one saw them. I know what my charge is. Convince them. This is the most humane and effective method. We're not executioners, and we don't need martyrs. If that fails, use the machine. And I understand how important what we're doing is. Maintaining balance. Keeping order.[We then cut to Dr. Staple in a nearby comic book store, carrying a travel bag, ready to move to another city. A television plays an episode of the sixties' Batman TV show]
Batman:
We're not here to buy umbrellas, and you know it.Robin:
Spread your wings, Mr. K.G. Bird. We're flying you down to headquarters.Penguin:
On what charge, Boy Wonder?Robin:
Illegal umbrellas.Batman:
Assault and battery, disturbing the peace. We've got enough to put you back on ice, Penguin.[She scrolls through some comic books on a shelf. Two boys nearby are having a conversation]
Boy #1:
He's too smart. That's why he's the mastermind. He'll never tell you his real plan. He sets everybody up. Gets them looking in one direction.Boy #2:
So cool, man.Boy #1:
There's always a real plan.[Staple's fingers stop scrolling, shocked by what she just heard. We see a flashback of when she was talking to Elijah about the security cameras]
Dr. Staple:
(flashback) You see this camera? There are a hundred more of these. Everything is being recorded.[She drives straight back to Raven Hill. She gets out of her car, half running, half walking, and talks to a Raven Hill security guard]
Dr. Staple:
All videos and all backup videos have been erased, correct?Security Guard:
Yes.Dr. Staple:
Was any of it downloaded before that?[The security guard searches the system]
Security Guard:
(surprised) I don't know how this is possible. Someone was streaming the live security feed to a private site.[The security guard then turns towards her. The doctor remains silent for a moment while we hear the sound of a ticking clock]
Dr. Staple:
(shaking, her eyes empty) He went through the basement tunnels to be seen by as many cameras as possible.[A brief shot of Patricia pressing the elevator button. The doctor sees a vision of Mr. Glass, sitting in his wheelchair]
Dr. Staple:
That's why he didn't go out the side entrance. He was never planning on going to that building. This was a suicide mission. I gave him all the cameras he needed right here.[We now know what he had been typing on the monitor before the parking lot fight, code to override the security cameras. The revelation concludes with a montage of the security cameras being installed while the ticking slows down and stops]
Dr. Staple:
(an inch from crying) What have you done, Elijah?![Through security footage, we see the doctor walking through a hallway. She stops halfway and suddenly, without warning, screams a bloodcurdling scream of pain, loss and defeat. The society's century spanning plan has failed. We then cut to Mrs. Price, sitting alone in her house, as we hear the sound of children playing in the nearby playground. A nearby computer makes a sound, she's got mail. She walks to the computer and opens the included attachment. We hear Elijah's voice, giving a final narration. During this narration, we see that both Casey and Joseph got the same mail. Alongside the recording, Elijah included footage of several moments from throughout the movie, captured on camera]
Elijah (vo):
There are unknown forces that don't want us to realize what we are truly capable of. They don't want us to know the things we suspect are extraordinary about ourselves are real. I believe that if everyone sees what just a few people become when they wholly embrace their gifts, others will awaken. Belief in oneself is contagious. We give each other permission to be superheroes. We will never awaken otherwise. Whoever these people are who don't want us to know the truth, today, they lose.[An exterior shot of the Osaka Tower, the solar panels adjust themselves in a wave like pattern while a train stops at the nearby station. Inside the station, we see Joseph walking to Mrs. Price and Casey, holding three cups of coffee. He has them to his friends and sits down next to them. The three of them are wearing their counterparts' colors, Casey is in yellow, Joseph in green and Mrs. Price in purple]
Casey:
Thanks.Mrs. Price:
How long's it been since we posted it?Joseph:
Two hours.Mrs. Price:
How long will it be before...?[Suddenly, we hear the notification of someone's phone. Around them, several people see the clips that have been posted. Many of them are shocked and surprised at what they are seeing. Joseph sees a vision of his dad, Mrs. Price of her son and Casey of The Beast. Mrs. Price then takes and holds the hands of both Joseph and Casey]
Mrs. Price:
I know what this is. This is the moment we are let in on the universe.[As the track Origin Story starts to swell, we zoom out and see how the information is spreading. On a nearby TV screen, we see footage of The Beast flipping over the car, mirroring the first Superman comic. Below the footage and the newscaster, a line of text scrolls by, saying that several patients have escaped Raven Hill Memorial. The movie title then appears and the credits start to roll, showing several moments of the trilogy]
