FLASHBACK BEGINS.
EXT. ADAM’S HIGHSCHOOL BASEBALL FIELD
Adam (now 17) is on the pitcher’s mound. He has a very serious look on his face.
The COACH, 40’s, comes to the mound to encourage him.
COACH:
I don’t want to put any more pressure on you, but there are some pro scouts here to watch you pitch.
Adam just looks at the coach and seems to be bothered by his words.
COACH:
Hey! Just relax and play your game. I have never been around a pitcher that has your talent. You just got to believe things will work out.
LATER:
Adam is in the middle of the 7th inning. The scoreboard reads 2-1. There is a runner on first base. Adam stares down the batter.
He takes the sign from the catcher. He glances briefly at the runner, then goes into his windup.
He delivers the pitch. Time slows as the ball approaches the batter...CRACK!! The ball is crushed and it strikes Adam unconscious.
Adam is in a hospital bed with a bandage around his head. His father is sitting beside him.
Adam is awake and apparently on the road to a full recovery. He looks at his father and his father smiles at him.
ADAM:
How’s mom doin?
Adam’s father gets a sullen look on his face.
ADAM’S FATHER
She doesn’t have very long, son. Maybe a few weeks. The cancer is in its final stages.
Adam just lays silently. He is visibly upset. His father tries to comfort him.
ADAM’S FATHER
Hey! There is some good news! You should be able to continue playing baseball with no problem.
Adam doesn’t say a word. He just looks away from his father after his statement.
LATER:
The coach comes in to visit Adam. He shakes Adam’s father’s hand and proceeds to talk with Adam.
COACH:
Hey, bud! Good news. I talked to the doctors outside. They all said that you should be able to come back very soon. Maybe within a week.
Adam isn’t very enthusiastic by the coach’s statement. The coach mirrors Adam’s expression.
ADAM:
I’m sorry coach. I can’t do it anymore. What happened scared the hell out of me. I don’t want to go through something like that anymore.
COACH:
What are you saying?
ADAM:
I quit
Adam’s father shuts his eyes tightly after hearing Adam’s words.

MOTHER:
I wish you luck in baseball, Adam. You are so good. It always made me happy to see you play.

ADAM’S FATHER
So, you aren’t going to go?
ADAM:
No. There is no way any girl will go out with me. I don’t want to go anyway.
ADAM’S FATHER
I hope you don’t regret it, Adam. Sure, it’s just a stupid dance and custom. It’s also something to look back on and possibly enjoy. You need this son!
Adam just shakes his head.
ADAM:
I’m not going to do it. I don’t want to look like a fool. Everyone hates me anyway.
FLASHBACK ENDS:
Adam looks towards the ceiling and begins to speak as if it were his father listening.
ADAM:
Sorry, Dad! I guess I really didn’t turn out to be much. You must be ashamed. I never really stuck anything out...at least not anything important. I’m the absolute definition of a bonified loser.
Adam bends over and pulls out a pistol. He stares at it and his eyes turn cold.
He puts a bullet in the chamber and opens his mouth and puts the barrel of the gun inside.
Then something comes on T.V. It causes Adam to cease his actions.

A new identity. Being able to empower your mind is not unthinkable. The power to learn things and know things instantaneously is now a reality. World renowned and unanimous recipient of the Neurosurgeon of the year in both America and Russia, Vincent Sexton, explains why.
VINCENT SEXTON (late 40’s)
VINCENT:
(ON TV)
I have been collaborating with the founders of Google. As we all know, we use Google to find out information on almost anything we want to know. Imagine if our own brains had the power to know something with even greater efficiency. We are testing a select group of candidates who wish to change their lives forever. My laser surgery combining robotics and neuroplasticity monitoring make it possible to implant a device to absorb the power of google while taking brain meds to smooth the transition. We closely monitor brain activity. The right candidate will be carefully picked based on the results of the myriad of tests my colleagues and I will conduct. This will be a week’s worth of testing. We will compensate all the candidates for time and travel. If you are interested in being a pioneer in the world of science then give us a call. This is a one time offer.
Adam quickly grabs a pen and writes down the information given on the T.V. He shuts his eyes...
