The next day...

After the baby's doctors appointment, Chris and I decided to do a little baby shopping. We walked around "Babies-R-Us" with our own basket.

In mine I had bibs, bottles, and a diaper bag. But Chris on the other hand, he had more bibs bottles and another bag. He had little baby clothes in neutral colors, socks diapers, wipes,  and foldable changing table. He was currently looking at baby toys.

"I think she'll like this." He pointed at a all pink cloth rattle, for her to shake. .. Or him.

"Why so noisy?"

"I could ask you the same thing" He said being smart.

"Boy hush"

"Whatever , you hungry ?"

"You know I am" I said giving him the look.

"No I didn't " he put his hands up and laughed. "What you want baby?"

"I want some... it don't matter, you pick."

"Aight, let's go check out."

We walked up to the check out line the total can up to $243.23 , I reached in my purse to help pay but Chris gave me a look that told me to stop. I let him pay it all but told myself I'd ask about it later. He also carried all of the bags, except two. They had baby wash rags, towels, and a few outfits... light as f***. I looked over and Mister Almighty and almost laughed when we reached his car. His keys were in his back pocket, out of his reach.  I grabbed them and popped the truck.

"Ahhh," I sat all the bags down at once.

"You know I could've helped you pay for that."

He grabbed the two bags from me and lifted them up.

"You did, see."

"Whatever," I climbed into the passenger seat. He followed behind me and got into the driver's seat. About twenty minutes later we were pulling up at Grindhouse Killer Burgers on Edgewood Ave. I looked over at Chris.

"What babe? I've been craving and you left it up to me."

"I didn't say a thing." I just looked at him.

"You were thinking it." He pulled into a parking spot near the door. "This is a nice spot." He got out and opened my door for me.

After getting situated across the table I read the menu. My stomach started to growl and I knew the smell was getting to the baby.

"What you ordering baby?" I looked over at him above my menu.

"Uuuhh, the cowboy style burger."

"Double or just one." I asked.

"Damn baby you tryna kill me in the gym. Just one."

"I know you not talking! You're the reason we're here."

"You're right, what you ordering? "

Before I could answer him the waiter came and took our drink orders.

"Water," we both answered.

"To eat? " Chris gave his order while my eyes roamed back and forth.

Which ..? Which... Both? No!

"You guy's sirloin steaks any good? "

"Yes ma'am..."

"Okay, I'll take one of those and a chicken salad."

Both... Damn..

"Okay, be right out with your waters."

I sat my menu to the side and looked at Chris.

"So what you think about the appointment earlier? " He asked me.

"It went really well, like you said, the baby is in great shape."

"Yes she is, " he agreed.

"Thats another thing.."

"What, ma? "

"Not knowing the gender kills me." He nodded in agreement. "I just don't want the baby to get here, then its a boy."

"Why is that? "

"Because you want a girl so bad. I dont want to let you down."

He reached and grabbed my hand.

"No baby don't feel that way. Please don't.  No matter what I will love our baby that you're carrying. I just always wanted a girl but I wouldn't mind a boy too. I would love to have a mini me walking around here with a gansta walk." I laughed a little as our waters were sat in front of us. "Seriously though baby, I don't mind having a boy. But I know its a girl."

Leaving it at that I decided to talk about something different.

"So what do you think its going to be like?"

"Hectic, well you know while the baby's still a new born." He said.

"Oh my lord, I already know I'll be sleepless. "

"Both of us."

"Excited about taking off of work? "

"Yes baby. Even though I'll still be working at home with you guys." I nodded in agreement.

"That's true, it's a paid leave, right? "

"Yea and I've been putting in extra hours"

I sipped my water and it was so good and cold. My stomach growled more.

"Somebody's hungry" He commented.

"Yes we are."

"So what you think about breast feeding?" He asked.

"I haven't thought about it.. Why? "

"I was just thinking, maybe it's safer."

"So you prefer breast feeding? " I looked at him to see his body language.

"It doesn't matter babe, its just more natural. "

"Is it healthier?"

"Yea, I believe so..." Chris stopped in mid-sentense and I followed where his eyes landed. Tall chick, short bob cut, big boob, no ass, dark skin, and hazel eyes.

Cute...

My eyes shot back to Chris, who was now making a face, as if he was trying to remember something. Looking back at the girl, she was now smiling at Chris and walking this way. Chris stood to greet her.

"Well, if it's little Chris from the block." Noting that Chris didn't remeber her name she said, "Abigal.."

"Ohhhh yea, that's right ! Abby, we called you Abby, right?"

She nodded, "Yes, that's me. How have you been?" She looked over at me and waved. She seems nice, I mean, she did at least acknowlegde me. I waved back.

"I've been fine, and this is my fiancee, TyAna. TyAna, this is Abby. Abby and I lived in the same neighborhood, back in the day."

We shook hands, "Nice meeting you. Congrats on everything."

Chris and I said thanks. "So how have you been?" I looked down at her left hand and noticed at ring.

"I've been fine. Just been being a stay at home mom."

"Oh you have kids?" Chris' eyebrow shot up and I knew he was up to something.

"Two, actually."

"Would you like to pull up a seat?" I offered her. Chris agreed.

"Sure, I would like that." Abby looked down at her watch and I looked at Chris, my eyes telling him to grab her chair. He did as he was told and the waiter was coming towards us with our food.
