INT. MORSIUS HEADQUARTERS - B1 - CONTROL ROOM. NIGHT.

Nigel looks at some documents. Clifford and Sabine enter the room. Nigel drops the documents and gets up from his seat.

NIGEL:

There he is. So, how was your first day?

CLIFFORD:

It sure was. Think I am going to stay away from the market for a while.

Clifford sits down and sighs.

CLIFFORD:

You know, I wish I could have a beer right now. I need to rest after this day.

NIGEL:

You better go to sleep now. Good day MORSIUS. Your first loose end tied up.

CLIFFORD:

One more thing… I know, you’ve told me to keep it a secret. But… Callum was there.

SABINE:

Does he know?

CLIFFORD:

I am going to tell him tomorrow.

NIGEL:

What?

CLIFFORD:

I know, I said I wouldn’t. But he was scared. I could see that. And confused.

NIGEL:

I…

Sabine cuts Nigel off.

SABINE:

Tell him!

NIGEL:

What-

SABINE:

This is going to help Callum to fend himself from them, if they get close to him again.

Nigel sighs and looks at both Sabine and Clifford.

NIGEL:

Are you sure we can trust him?

CLIFFORD:

He is just as cold with my parents as me.

NIGEL:

Fine! I’ll let it slide this time.

CLIFFORD:

I hope it’s just this time.

NIGEL:

Trust me. So do I.

INT. REYES’ MANSION - CALLUM’S ROOM. NIGHT.

Sarah enters the room and opens a window, Callum climbs in the house via the window, soaking wet.

SARAH:

What the heck happened? Why are you all wet?

CALLUM:

Where are Tony and Kiara?

SARAH:

Out. They kept staying with that reporter. He was persistent in knowing where Clifford was.

CALLUM:

On the riverbank… Before flying off.

Callum sits on his bed. Sarah sits beside him.

CALLUM:

I think… No… it’s a stupid thought.

SARAH:

What?

CALLUM:

You know how corrupt our parents are, right?

SARAH:

Yeah?

CALLUM:

What if… there’s something our parents haven’t told us about? Maybe Clifford left because he discovered something?

SARAH:

Maybe… Mom today was acting suspicious as well.

CALLUM:

How suspicious?

SARAH:

She tried to see the call I had with Clifford. I don’t know why.

CALLUM:

What did she say?

SARAH:

She was trying to convince me that he left us because of her. She was obsessed with him. Before this, dad was inside too! Seemed like they were arguing pretty much.

CALLUM:

Now… none of us can get close to Clifford… but I know someone who does.

Callum calls John and puts the call on speaker so that Sarah can hear.

CALLUM:

Hey… John?

JOHN:

Callum? What’s up?

CALLUM:

Look I am sorry to call you with this.

SARAH:

Hi, John.

JOHN:

Hey Sarah. Is Clifford there?

CALLUM:

Um... no. In fact, I called you to talk about him. Has he been in any way… disturbed or…

JOHN:

Disturbed? After a school shooting?

SARAH:

What do you mean after a school shooting?

JOHN:

You did not hear? Nurona High was assaulted yesterday. We all made it out okay, thanks to Sabine. He spent the night with me, but I haven't seen him since morning. Where is he?

CALLUM:

This is what we plan to find out. Care if you look after him at school for us?

JOHN:

Yeah sure. I’ll tell you once I learn something.

SARAH:

Thanks, John. You and Alex take care.

JOHN:

You know we do.

The call hangs up.

CALLUM:

School shooting? Today some people chased us through the market…

SARAH:

Who the heck got Clifford involved with?

Phone buzzes.

CALLUM:

It’s… Clifford.

Callum picks up the phone.

CALLUM:

Clifford?

CLIFFORD:

Hi… Callum…

CALLUM:

Hi…

CLIFFORD:

Umm… I guess we need to talk about what happened today…

CALLUM:

You don’t say… sharpshooter. Why didn’t you tell us about the school shooting?

CLIFFORD:

John told you. I asked him not to.

SARAH:

We had no f***ing choice. Clifford! What’s going on?

CLIFFORD:

Look, Sarah, Callum. Now is neither the time, place or way to talk about this. Let’s meet tomorrow. Face-to-face. Meet me at our usual hangout. Don’t be late. And most importantly… don’t be followed!

CALLUM:

Followed? By who?

CLIFFORD:

You’d be surprised.

Clifford cuts the call. Callum sighs.

CALLUM:

Well… at least we will know tomorrow.

SARAH:

I guess so… I gotta go to bed. You better get changed, or you’ll catch a cold.

CALLUM:

Since when are you babysitting me?

SARAH:

Since forever.

CALLUM:

That’s my job!

SARAH:

Just get the f*** changed, please?

CALLUM:

Fine. Night!

SARAH:

Good night.

Sarah leaves the room. Callum lays down and sighs.

CALLUM:

Of, my dumb brother.

INT. MOSIUS HEADQUARTERS - B3 - CLIFFORD’S DORM. NIGHT.

Clifford sighs and lays down his bed and looks at his pin and the picture with the boy on his phone from the market. Clifford’s voice plays over.

CLIFFORD:

You know the moment when you have to live with your whole family, while keeping a huge secret? Luckily, so far my only secret was that I liked guys, not girls. Something my parents would’ve probably killed me if they found out. This is Pietro, he was my best friend, since always… but for my last two years in NYC, he was more than that. Now, I have a chance with somebody closer… John… I just hope I can balance things out… MOSIUS, school, keeping it a secret. MORSIUS’ world sure is complicated as heck.

Sabine appears trying to log into Nigel’s computer.

CLIFFORD:

But I have people I can place my trust in…

Callum and Sarah appear both checking their phones on Clifford’s call

CLIFFORD:

…people who offer me help even when I don’t want them to carry this burden…

John laying on the bed, with his head facing the wall

CLIFFORD:

…people who are always next to me, whenever they feel like I am sad. This is what friends are for.

Clifford looks at the photo with Pietro, puts the photo on his chest and closes the light.

CLIFFORD:

But still… What the f*** is Pietro doing in Nurona? Was that even him? No… It can’t be! I shouldn’t let this bother me. I should go to sleep.
