CALLUM:

CLIFFOOOOOOOOOOOOORD!!!!

The straggler looks down at the river as the boys hit the water and make a big splash.

STRAGGLER:

Got two boys who attacked me in the Central Market. I need a medic too, one of us got knocked out. Imma send you the coordinates where to meet!

INT. REYES’ MANOR. DAY.

Sarah comes into the room, where Kiara sits on the bed, with a pack of ice.

KIARA:

Thanks, honey! You were always my favorite.

SARAH:

Say, how did you get hurt again?

KIARA:

Oh nothing. I just fell. It's going to be okay. All this Clifford stuff messed me up pretty good.

SARAH:

It messed us all up. And now, we also have this interview... Ugh.

KIARA:

What interview?

SARAH:

Wait, you didn't know?

KIARA:

No?

SARAH:

Dad said some reporters will come to make his introduction for the rally.

KIARA:

Did he now?

SARAH:

Yeah. Hey listen, I’m going a little over to the bathroom. Be right back.

KIARA:

Okay, sweetie.

Sarah leaves the room, leaving her phone behind, on her nightstand next to her bed. Kiara looks at the phone and grabs it, right before Tony enters the room.

TONY:

Honey, what are you doing with Sarah’s phone?

KIARA:

Nothing, I needed to see something...

TONY:

Right! Like the call with Clifford, right?

KIARA:

You actually think I'd do something like that.

Tony looks at Kiara with a frown. Kiara realizes she cannot hide the truth from Tony so she tells him the truth.

KIARA:

Ugh, fine! Yes, I was. I tried to track it down.

Tony grabs Sarah's phone from Kiara's hands.

TONY:

Okay that's enough.

KIARA:

Hey!

TONY:

You're obsessed.

KIARA:

It's not like I am the first! How about the interview? Hmm?

TONY:

Oh come on, I was about to tell you that!

KIARA:

Yeah, but you did not!

TONY:

It's still better than trying to force a person, that left because of you, to return.

Sarah comes into the room.

SARAH:

What's going on?

TONY:

Nothing, sweetie. We were just talking.

Tony and Kiara both nod their heads. Tony leaves the room.

TONY:

I shall leave you girls to it.

Kiara tries hiding Sarah’s phone.

SARAH:

Mom, what are you doing with my phone?

KIARA:

I am sorry, to tell you this… but you’ve got to stop calling Clifford!

SARAH:

Who I talk with is not your business.

KIARA:

Listen, honey. Callum’s right! Clifford left because of me! I was too harsh on him. Now I am trying to fix that. But your father is also right. And we cannot force him back here.

SARAH:

He just needs some time off. I am sure he will be back soon.

KIARA:

I wish I had that confidence to begin with.

SARAH:

Hey, don't worry. He will return.

KIARA:

I guess you are right. Well I should get ready for the interview.

Kiara gets up and leaves. Sarah writes a quick text to Clifford. “We need to talk, things are escalating here! Call me soon”.

INT. MOSIUS HEADQUARTERS - B1 - CONTROL ROOM. DAY.

Sabine gets off her phone, Nigel walks into the room towards her.

SABINE:

Nigel, did you get anything back from Clifford?

NIGEL:

He is fine. At the Market. Why?

SABINE:

The Central Market?!

NIGEL:

Yes, why?

SABINE:

Not sure “fine” is what I’d call

NIGEL:

Hear what? Sabine I’m tired of your little guessing games.

SABINE:

I’m talking about the Shadow stragglers!

Nigel stays silent.

SABINE:

Of course you knew!

NIGEL:

Clifford called it in! He said he will handle it!

SABINE:

Where is he?

NIGEL:

I’ve no idea…

SABINE:

You left our most valuable agent roam free, with those stragglers after him?!

NIGEL:

Sabine-

SABINE:

Nigel, why did you tell him to stay off patrol today? There’s no such thing as “first day, free day” here! There never was! I know you sent him there for a reason! And I am sure it’s about something hidden from all of us. Something only you know!

NIGEL:

You are right! I sent Clifford to the market to make peace with his past.

SABINE:

What are you talking about?

NIGEL:

You’ve no idea how dangerous the Shadows are for the Reyes children! All but Sarah have or had prices on their heads!

SABINE:

You’re talking about Kyle and Polly, right?

NIGEL:

Clifford needs to be prepared to fight the Shadows with everything he has!

Nigel still doesn’t answer the question from Sabine.

SABINE:

Look, if Clifford cannot fight them now because of his past, then later he might not be able to because he was killed before he even got the chance. I don’t understand anything, Nigel!

NIGEL:

When it’s the right time, you will.

Nigel leaves the room.

SABINE:

Nigel! Aaaand he’s gone! Great!

Sabine tries to contact Clifford.

EXT. RIVERBANK. DAY.

The boys get out of the water.

CLIFFORD:

Are you alright?

Callum coughs a bit.

CALLUM:

I’ll manage, thanks! It’s not everyday I get chased across rooftops by armed sentinels.

CLIFFORD:

Sentinels, highly military trained soldiers. Whatever you wanna call them. And for the rooftop part, welcome to my life.

Clifford’s phone rings, and answers the call, which is from Sabine.

CALLUM:

What are you talking about? Who were those guys?

CLIFFORD:

Shh… S!

SABINE:

Thank god, Clifford! Where are you?

CLIFFORD:

Nurona Riverbank! Hey uh… Listen. We have… “royal” company…

SABINE:

Who?

CLIFFORD:

Uh… The older one.

SABINE:

Okay. Be careful out there!

Clifford hangs the call.

CLIFFORD:

Alright, let’s go!

Clifford helps Callum up.

CALLUM:

What is happening?

CLIFFORD:

Listen, Callum. I love you, but I cannot tell you anything. I’m not allowed.

CALLUM:

Not allowed? Is this related to your sudden move out? What’s-

Clifford has a headache and a vision. Callum questions Clifford in a worried tone.

CALLUM:

Clifford, are you alright?

CLIFFORD:

We gotta get out of here!

CALLUM:

What? What are you not telling me?

CLIFFORD:

The truth! Now run!

The boys run down the river, until they reach an overpass. Shadow members appear from above.

CLIFFORD:

Well that was fun while it lasted.

CALLUM:

Clifford, who the heck are these people?

CLIFFORD:

Trust me, we will talk. Just not now! You have to get out of here!

Clifford pushes Callum in the river and yells at the Shadow Members.

CLIFFORD:

Bring it on f***ers!

INT. MOSIUS HEADQUARTERS - B1 - CONTROL ROOM. DAY.

Sabine walks towards Nigel.

SABINE:

Nigel! I think we found Clifford!

NIGEL:

You did? Where?

SABINE:

Nurona Riverbank.

NIGEL:

How do you know?

Sabine shows a video of Clifford fighting the Shadows.

SABINE:

Oh lucky guess.

EXT. RIVERBANK. NIGHT.

Clifford dodges gunfire by jumping in the river and climbs up again from behind the enforcers. He approaches to strangle them but he is thrown over their head and in front of them again. Clifford pulls one in front of the other right before this one shoots and uses the other as a human shield. Clifford throws the body of the shield on top of the other member and strangles him and disarms his weapon.

CLIFFORD:

Yeah, that’s right! I made you!

A MOSIUS helicopter materializes in the air and Sabine yells out from it.

SABINE:

Clifford!

CLIFFORD:

Sabine?

SABINE:

So glad you are okay!

CLIFFORD:

Yeah… sort of.

The helicopter flies away, the camera zones out until Callum’s back can be seen.
