Synopsis: Our Girl is a British television drama, which starred Lacey Turner as Molly Dawes (in its first series) a young adult from a lower class background who joins the British Army after deciding her life is going nowhere. A one-off special was broadcast on 24 March 2013 on BBC One, which saw Dawes make the decision to join the army, despite the protests of her protective family.

GEORGIE (CONT'D)

They're coming to rescue us. Like I said Kicki. I said, I

said they were coming din I. I said Kicki. Please Kicki.

Georgie knows that Kicki has died. She holds her and cry's. Georgie hears an enormous gun

battle starting up at the gates.

IN:
10:53:03 EXT. AL SHABAAB COMPOUND. MAIN GATES. DAY

The dozen para's with ruthless precision are firing their way into the compound and picking off the

Al Shabaab one at a time.

The fire fight is loud and frightening. Al Shabaab fighting for their lives.

JAMES:

Gate breached… Man down… Contact! Engage now.

IN:
10:53:10 EXT. AL SHABAAB COMPOUND. DAY

Gaani and Abu leap into a pick up truck. Zeki runs up to them.

ZEKI:

They're attacking the gates! Leader, they are attacking

the gates.

GAANI:

You're a soldier now. Zeki. Stay and fight.

Zeki looks up and sees the hidden rear gates opening. Gaani driving starts to pull towards the

gates. Zeki runs alongside the car.

ZEKI:

Abu... what about me? Abu.

ABU:

Your brothers are fighting! Be prepared to die yeah.

Paradise awaits you, brother. Praise be to Allah!

IN:
10:53:32 INT. AL SHABAAB COMPOUND. DAY

James and his men storm the compound, James shoots a man on the wall.

JAMES:

King, on me… Fingers, Brains, enemy behind vehicle

now…

IN:
10:53:50 INT. HELICOPTER/EXT. AL SHABAAB COMPOUND/CELL. DAY

The helicopter approaches the compound. Elvis, Spanner, Spunky and Jackson all doing their

last minute checks. They see the gun battle taking place. There is chaos and confusion, smoke,

explosions and gun fights.

Georgie looks up and sees the helicopter approaching.

Zeki stares in disbelief then upwards, startled like a rabbit caught in the headlights at the fire fight

and the helicopter over head.

Zeki prepares his weapon but before he's able to engage his weapon, he is shot by a para from

the gate. Injured but not critically he staggers and falls, outside the cell.

As he falls to the ground, he looks up and sees a figure (Elvis) fast roping down from the

helicopter.

GEORGIE:

(looking through the crack)

Zeki?

Zeki looks at Georgie's eye at the window in the door and then upwards.

A masked, helmet and visor so unrecognisable, Elvis fast roping down, sees Zeki and double

taps him, one bullet heart, one bullet head, before blasting open the cell door.

ELVIS:

Down!

Elvis places a detonator on the lock and blows it gate open.

Elvis sees Kicki dead on the ground. He quickly checks for signs of life. Georgie shakes her head.

GEORGIE:

She's dead.

The helmeted Elvis grabs Georgie, secures her into the harness, and signals for them to be taken

back up.

Georgie looks down as the para's engage the Al Shabaab.

IN:
10:55:42 INT. HELICOPTER. DAY

Elvis puts Georgie in the helicopter, the others grab her and pull her to safety.

ELVIS:

(into mouth mic)

This is Zero Alpha. Extraction complete Primary

recovered, repeat primary recovered.

(lifting his visor exposing his face for the

first time)

All is well in the world.

Georgie stares at him incredulously before she leans forwards and punches him, hard in the face.

10:56:26 INT. MEDICAL ROOM. MOMBASA HOSPITAL. DAY

James has come to visit Georgie.

GEORGIE:

No. Why him boss?

JAMES:

It wasn't my call, Lane.

10:56:29 INT. HOTEL. BASE. MOMBASA. GEORGIE'S ROOM. DAY

Georgie is talking to Cole via her tablet.

COLE:

Those boys who rescued you they, they know what

they're doing.

IN:
10:56:33 EXT. HOTEL. BASE. MOMBASA. DAY

Georgie sitting the in foyer, Elvis sitting on the seat next to her.

ELVIS:

But maybe I need to talk to you.

GEORGIE:

Yeah well. Maybe I'm not listening.

IN:
10:56:35 INT. HOTEL ANNEX. DAY

Major hare is carrying out a debrief.

MAJOR HARE:

Let’s try and find out who the convert Abu is and identify

the rest of his cell.

GEORGIE:

We need to get him before he gets us.

IN:
10:56:41 INT. FARM TRUCK. DAY

A face comes on the screen. Gaani.

GEORGIE:

That's Gaani. He's their Cell Commander.

We pull back to see Georgie with others looking at the screen.

IN:
10:56:44 EXT. BEACH. DAY

A guard on a watch tower opens fire.

IN:
10:56:45 EXT. HOSPITAL. DAY

Elvis ducks for cover.

IN:
10:56:45 EXT. BEACH. DAY

On Elvis.

On Georgie ducking for cover.

An air strike. The soldiers dive for cover. Georgie and Elvis nod at each other.

Tony Grounds

Tony Grounds is a British writer of television scripts. He was born in 1957 in East London. Described by The Independent (11 October 2002) as "the best TV writer of his generation", Grounds has written for all four of Britain's main channels. He started writing for the theatre, winning the Verity Bargate Award for Made in Spain, which was subsequently performed in London and published by Methuen. It was then filmed for ITV and transmitted in their Screenplay slot. There then followed stints on EastEnders and The Bill before he penned episodes of 'Chancer', which starred Clive Owen. more…
