Catherine Hicks As Karen Barclay Karen Is Very Clear To Me And Always Has Been Bo Jackson His Character Feels Guilt Because Of The Children I’m A Mother I’m A Wife I’m A Friend And I’m Jewish You Know What Could Be Clearer To Than How To Make Somebody Feel Guilty This Is Something That I Do In My Sleep It’s What I’ve Trained For And I Have One Son Just Like Karen Barclay
Lisa Zane As Maggie What You Wanted To Avoid All The Way Through Was These People Looking Just Ordinary Bland Nice Middle Of The Road Middle Class People That Would Not Have They Had To Be Vivid You Know You We’re Stuck With Them In This Capsule Or Whatever You Want To Call It For A Long Time And They Had To Be Vivid And Very Clearly Defined
Chris Sarandon As Det. Mike Norris When I Read James Leroy Anderson The Movie Initially I Wasn’t Drawn To The Project Really Wasn’t Attached It Was Mine Stand Was Gonna Be A Two Or Three Million Dollar Budget On It I Thought Well You’re Not Gonna Make An Effective Film For That And You Know It’s A Nice Piece Of Material Has Potential But You’re Not Giving You That Potential And That I Thought Was That And About A Month Later Gonna Call From England But One Of The Producers At The Time And Told Me That Steve And Colette Was Gonna Be Directing It And That There Was A Budget Would Realize The Potential When Steve And Colette Became Something Else It Became Working With Steve Oedekerk And Colette Sunderman Learning About Filmmaking
Lisa Zane As Maggie What Steve And Colette Vision Um As Far As The Axis We’re Concerned Was He Wanted It Very Much To Be Not Of Any Time Or Any World So It Was Important There Was Mixture Of Nationalities I Cannot Remember Elian Wood Danielle Harris Ellie Cornell Kevin Zegers Donna Wilkes Lea Thompson William Atherton Brian Doyle Murray Linda Hamilton Andrew Robinson Kurt Russell Kim Cattrall Dennis Dun Kate Burton Donald Li William Hope Fiona Dourif Scott Inces Judge Reindhold John Aston Ronny Cox Alice Adair Hector Elizondo & Theresa Randle Is Characters Was Written As Such But He Was Obviously Perfect For That Part Because They So Vivid A Wonderful Actors
Kevin Bacon As Ren McCorMack When I First Met Steve And Colette First Meeting We Had I Said I Like Comedy Films And I Don’t Like Science Fiction Films Or Monster Pictures I Opening With That Which Is Obviously A Good Opening And He Said Well Actually I Don’t Either But I Think I Can Make Something In This One
Lisa Zane As Maggie The Casting Of Perrey Reeves Thom Mathews Courtney Cox And Robert Duncan McNeil I Think It Is Know That It There Was Another Actor Orignally Palying That Part Corey Feldman And John Shepherd He Because Ill And We Had To Recast
Colette Sunderman Director Probably Identified At That Moment Very Strongly By Playing MacBeth For Polanski I’d Been Impressed By The Plants Keys Work Anyway But Particularly Also By Feldman And Shepherd And So He Said Yeah Sure I’d Love To Do This Came On Board The First Day First Shot He Starts To Look As Yellow As This Pencil Turned I Thought Gosh What’s Wrong And We Did A Couple Of Takes And He Seemed A Absolute Lackluster No Energy He’s Sagging His Ceiling Cut And I Got Up When Overtime I Said What’s Up You’re Right He Said No I’m Terrible So I Feel Terrible Said How Do I Look I Said Terrible And We Had To Lift Him Out Of His Seat And He Was Carried Away And It Turns Out That He Was A Diabetic
Thom Mathews As Tommy Jarvis I Was Had Been Asked If I’d Like To Do James Leroy Anderson The Movie But I Had Already Committed To The L.A. Film So That Was Dropped And The Actor Was Going To Play Tommy Jarvis Kristen De Silva Julie Winston & Kevin Corrigan Later For One Reason Or Another Had To Drop Out
Colette Sunderman Director That Night We Had A Quick Regroup In The Office And That Night I Drop To The Jarvis House And That Was Perrey Reeves Thom Mathews Courtney Cox And Robert Duncan McNeil
Perrey Reeves As Kristen De Silva Then They Heard That I Was Then Free So Steve Oedekerk The Characters Of A Nightmare On Elm Street And Colette Sunderman Came To Me And We Talked To Gone Midnight Say On The Monday
Colette Sunderman Director Prepared Him Of Course For What Is What It Was And He Said So When Do I Start I Said Tomorrow Morning
Robert Duncan McNeil As Kevin Corrigan On The Tuesday Moring I Was On The At 7:30 So It Was Not A Usual Film For Me Script Didn’t Arrive And I Didn’t Mull Over And I Didn’t Decide This
Courtney Cox As Julie Winston That And The Other I Had A Long Pitch From Steve The Characters Of A Nightmare On Elm Street And Colette A Very Interesting One Too And I By The End Of It I Said Okay Steve The Characters Of A Nightmare On Elm Street And Colette You’d Better Send The Car Around Now To Tell Me What Studio
Lisa Zane As Maggie I Think Life And Action And Everything Is So Full Of Those Things What If It Hadn’t Happened Like Nobody Knows If I Think Perrey Reeves Thom Mathews Courtney Cox And Robert Duncan McNeil Would Probably Still Have Exactly The Same Career Because They Done They’d Done So Much Varied And Wonderful Work That Really Brings Us To Gary Oldman Who I Think Is The Most Wonderful Action And Helen Hunt Hadn’t Done Anything Like That At All Before And Steve And Colette Was Really Thrilled That She Wanted To Do It And In Those Days She Done Very Little Film She’d Done A Bit Of Television But She Was Really Very Much A Theater Start
Emilio Estevez Andrew Andy Clark We Were Just So Lucky With Gary Oldman Theresa Randle Hector Elizondo Alice Adair Ronny Cox John Aston Judge Reindhold Scott Innes Fiona Dourif William Hope Donald Li Kate Burton Dennis Dun Kim Cattrall Kurt Russell Linda Hamilton Andrew Robinson Brian Doyle Murray William Atherton Lea Thompson Donna Wilkes Kevin Zegers Ellie Cornell Danielle Harris Elian Wood Perrey Reeves Thom Mathews Kevin Bacon Chris Sarandon Catherine Hicks Helen Hunt Wesley Snipes Kim Basinger Joyce Hyser Amanda Pays Imogen Ashley Frank Lisa Christine Justin Alex And Bo We Were Just Universally Lucky
Judd Nelson John Bender Well It Was Great From A Writer’s Point Of View To Stand There And Go Yeah That The Way To Do It Yeah That’s Good Yeah
Ally Sheedy Alison Reyonds You Know As Opposed To Sort Of Sitting There Chewing Your Fingernails Wondering What You’re Gonna Say To The Director To Get Him To Change The Line Reading You Know It Really Wasn’t Necessary
Heather Langekamp As Nancy Thompson/Herself Casting Was Extensive And Even Though It’s Only For 9th People In Teaser Trailer We Shooting At Southeast Park In Skateboard Hill The 9th Characters They Walk The Hill They Draw Gun Rifle And Shotgun And They Start Shooting Southeast Park The End Of The Day I Think It’s A Pretty Definitive Cast
Lisa Zane As Maggie The Casting Is Enormously Important To The Whole Making Of The Film To The Directors Concept Of The Film Because It Does So Much Work For The Director Just Innately In Who You Cast Gives The Director So Much To Work With Or Not If It’s Not Properly Cast So It Is An Extraordinary Sort Of Subtle Skill It’s Difficult To Explain But People Do Know About Filmmaking Understand It And Audiences Who Don’t Know About It Appreciate It Without Always Understanding What They’re Appreciative
