The Stoneman Murders Page #3

Synopsis: After the sudden death of a suspect in custody, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Shellar from Bombay's Special Crime Unit gets suspended. Shortly thereafter the police come across a recently deceased corpse of a homeless person, treat it as a random killing and close the file. But when more pavement dwellers are killed only between the hours of 10 PM and 4 AM in the Sion - Matunga Harbor Line area on Tuesdays and Saturdays, they review their decision and conclude this to be the work of a serial killer. Sanjay approaches A.I.G. Satam and pleads with him to handle this incident but is told that he cannot do so as he has been fired. When he insists, Satam asks him to do this on his own, and if successful, he will approach Mantralaya and have him reinstated. A grateful Sanjay commences his investigation - not aware that soon he will himself become a suspect after police come across evidence linking him to these killings.

Your 'special crimes

unit' has thrown you out!

Sanjay... sanjay, i

didn't mean it like that.

My point is that i've

seen a change in you...

over the past few days.

You seem preoccupied.

Leave aside sex...

you don't even

talk to me properly.

Look, manali...

are you seeing another woman?

Is it her you go to every night?

Where are you going?

- Nowhere.

Sir, you still

haven't paid the rent!

I'll pay it!

Don't chew my brains everyday!

Chaurasiya!

What is it, sir?

What did i tell you?

What did you tell me?

I told you that i'll

pay the rent, right?

You just said it...

but you haven't

paid as yet... have you?

So that means you'll

change the door lock?

What is the meaning of this?

So will you change the

door lock? Tell me...

why are you pushing me?

Why are you pushing me?

And why should i change the lock?

I haven't changed any lock!

Then did your father come and...

look here, sir!

Please mind your tongue!

Firstly you don't pay

your rent and then you...

come and push

your weight around!?

Manali! Listen to me...

you're leaving for our village by

the first train tomorrow morning...

okay? I'll call up

your mother to inform her.

Why? Why do you want me to go?

And that too, all of a sudden?

There is a reason.

Your life is in danger.

And how? How is my life in danger?

Manali, please. Please

don't be stubborn. Please.

That whore you visit every night...

is this her command?

I've had enough of your nonsense!

How dare you!?

I have no time for

this juvenile behaviour!

Now, i won't stay a

single day with you.

I'll go to the village myself.

You'll come with me!

There'll be agents...

at matunga station.

We'll buy a ticket from them...

and you will go! Come on now...

i'm not going anywhere with you.

Manali, please!

Please... don't be stubborn!

Fine! I'll go alone.

But keep this door closed!

Lock it from the inside.

And please don't

open it for anyone!

The seat is confirmed? Sure?

Yes sir. Absolutely sure!

Take this. Keep this. Okay?

- Okay sir. Thank you.

Yes manali, is everything

fine there? I've got the ticket.

I'm coming back now.

Hello...? Manali!

Face me! You coward!

'Sub inspector sanjay shelar! '

'Our primary duty is

to help the helpless.'

It'll hurt a bit

hey, don't look at me like that.

He's back there.

Go! Go and arrest him.

Go! Hey! Here... is this better now?

I was just helping him.

He is there. Over there.

Hey!

God, what happened?

How did this happen?

There's no time to explain...

the police will be here any moment.

Take me to our mhada house.

I... i...?

- Please!

I... - manali, please!

Please listen to me now.

Come on!

- Yes!

Take me there.

Come.

Be careful! Careful.

Thank you.

- Slowly...

you didn't utter a sound

while i removed the bullet.

That's because you

were removing it.

You're very brave.

- Is that so?

You're no less brave.

What do you mean?

You drove the car till here.

Sanjay, tell me, what's

really happening here?

You asked me once why we

need black money, right?

We need it for

things like this house.

This house has just saved my life.

Sanjay, jokes apart. Tell me

the truth. What's going on?

Can't discuss with the family.

But at least i should know

who has done this to you?

Whatever happens,

happens for the best.

At least you don't

suspect me anymore.

I hope you have no

more ideas that i go...

elsewhere at night.

Anyway, listen... tomorrow

you'll go back to our village...

by the first

train in the morning.

When things are settled here,

i'll call you back.

Fine. But why don't you come along?

Manali, i can't.

I have some

unfinished business to settle.

Come sir, come.

Where the hell are you taking us?

Sir, it's just a few steps away.

We'll just turn from here...

and there we are. Please come.

Come, come, please come.

It's just across, sir.

Sir, please come.

There, that house.

He's lost his mind.

He has gone mad.

What's this? Looks

like black magic.

I suspected him from the

beginning. - Yes sir...

yes...

this guy had a

bloodlust from the very start.

Earlier, he killed a

gangster every month.

And now that he cannot

kill any more gangsters...

he's started

preying on these beggars.

He's lost it.

Sir, the serial

killer we're looking for...

is none other than sub-inspector

sanjay shelar himself.

We have conclusive evidence, sir.

We all saw him killing that man.

We tried to nab him,

but he got away.

Sir, you can check with them.

Yes sir, mr. Kedar is right.

Sir, as soon as he

saw us, he got away.

Sir, look at this. You'll find

sanjay's fingerprints on this.

We found this near

victim number six.

Sanjay's fingerprints are

also imprinted on the knife...

that was used to

kill the last victim.

And sir, during our night patrol...

we often saw sanjay...

walking aimlessly on

the road at late hours.

Sir, the day victim

number seven died,

we had seen

sanjay in that vicinity.

He was wandering about aimlessly,

nearly at the

time of the murder, sir.

Sir, i suspected sanjay

right from the very beginning.

But i was finding it

difficult to believe my own hunch.

No, you are coming! No,

nothing doing.

Yes, you will have to come, yes!

No, you are coming.

Hey! Hey!

- Come on. Get lost!

Kamble, give the line to mr. Satam.

Mr. Satam is with

the commissioner...

kamble, give mr. Satam the line.

Mr. Satam is with

the commissioner, sir.

Kamble, give the

phone to mr. Satam!

Hello?

- Yes sir...

i have almost solved the case.

Tonight there'll be another murder.

After tonight, the

murders will stop.

Sir, we only have tonight

to catch him red-handed.

I'm in a meeting right now.

I'll talk to you later.

Sir, i have nearly

solved this case.

After tonight he'll stop...

- Yes, yes, i will call you later.

Okay

- Sir, not later, sir... please...

i am sorry sir.

Continue.

Sir, sanjay loved his job.

It was the crux of his existence.

So, since the time

he was suspended...

he's been

suffering a mental trauma.

And now, he has completely

lost his mental balance.

'Hello'

- Sir, this is sanjay here.

Sanjay, where've you been?

I've been trying to contact you...

yes... sir... i'm not at home.

Sanjay, now listen to me carefully.

Kedar is convinced

that you've committed...

these eight murders.

Yes sir, i know. But i have some...

sanjay, there's no

time for explanations.

The commissioner has issued

orders to round up all suspects.

More than 40 police officers are

carrying an order for your arrest.

That's why sanjay...

you should leave

this city immediately.

Sir, that murderer

is roaming scot-free!

Tonight he'll

claim his next victim!

Sir, another innocent

person will lose his life.

Please... please listen to me.

Concentrate on saving

your own life right now.

Sir... listen to me...

enough, sanjay! Just

leave the city right now.

I'll take care of the

investigation myself.

When we nab the real killer,

i'll contact you.

Till then, stay at your village.
