TomKat: Double Impact Page #12

Season #All
Synopsis: We describe our story as Jack Reacher meets Hanna with a touch of Thin Man savoir vivre tossed in. A story that had to be told. A love story of tremendous impact. A story of a small group of people willing to risk everything to stop the most serious threat to Western Civilization in modern history. There comes a time when a citizen must fulfill the requirements of the constitution if the government fails in its obligation. TomKat: Double Impact is one of these stories.

INT. ROXC STUDIO - DAY

Kat's first day of work for Ted O'Hara. She is being introduced to the staff by her supervisor, RONI LEVINE, head producer of The Ted O'Hara Show. She settles down at her desk in Roni Levine's office.

RONI:

Kat, can you call these people. We

need to be sure all the names and bios of tonight's guests are correct. I have to work with the teleprompter operator on the script for Ted's monologue.

KAT Sure thing, Roni.

Kat St. John proceeds to making list when Ted O'Hara enters the

the phone calls from the office.

How is it

KAT:

It's hectic, but everyone has been

very nice to me. I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity.

TED:

Think nothing of it. I knew you

were something special when I interviewed you after that Central Park incident.

Ted O'Hara walks up to and encircles her with his long arms. He tries to kiss her. Kat looks surprised but without hesitation she slams her high heel into O'Hara's instep. He lets go of her. She steps back, grabs his arm as he reaches for his wounded foot. With a quashing motion Kat secures a hammerlock on her assailant. She bends his hand against his forearm, thrusts her left foot around his leg, simultaneously pushing him and crashing her boss to the floor. Only his free arm prevents a broken nose or worse.

KAT:

(forcefully in his ear)

Is this how you greet your new

employees?

64.

TED:

Please let go. I'm sorry.

Kat lets go. He stands, lifts his injured foot to the desk top, nursing it to relieve the pain. Kat steps back.

Kat looks

KAT:

So, I guess I'm fired.

TED:

Of course not. I was a pig and got

what I deserved. How did you do that? I didn't see it coming.

at him with hands now on hips.

KAT:

Boxers say that about the knockout

punch they received – they never saw it coming.

TED:

Well, you're good. Now I realize

how Griffin felt during those last seconds of his life.

KAT:

(laughing)

For some reason, I feel merciful today. I'll let you live.

O'Hara laughs. He offers his hand to Kat.

TED Friends?

KAT:

Friends...so long as you learned

your lesson.

TED:

Oh, I learned my lesson, all

right.

Kat shakes his hand.

INT. KAT'S OFFICE - DAY

THREE MONTHS LATER.

Roni walks into the office with a file folder and hands it to Kat.

INT. ROXC

RONI:

Ted heard that a half dozen top

Muslim terrorist leaders have been killed the last three years by the same M.O. They were killed at long distance by a sophisticated rifle. It's very unusual. These terrorists usually kill their rivals more up front and personal. Usually with a scimitar to the neck.

KAT:

Your right. It sounds unusual.

I'll look into it

to Roni and Kat.

TED (CONT'D)

Good job on that cult story,

girls. It was pretty incredible. I hope we can help those poor victims of that nut.

RONI:

That was all Kat. She worked hard

on the research for that segment.

TED:

Kat, I may want you on air next

week to follow up on those girls.

KAT:

Be happy to. I have a meeting in a

couple of days with the parents of the victims.

Ted nods and walks away.

RONI:

Kat, you hear that? He wants you

on air. That is great for you.

66.

KAT:

I look forward to it. I have to

go. I want to do some work on that information you gave me about the assassinated Muslim leaders.

RONI:

Now? It's late. Don't overwork

yourself.

KAT:

(laughing)

I won't. It won't take more than another hour or so. I have my usual dinner with Tom at eight- thirty.

INT. KAT'S OFFICE - LATER

Kat works on the file that Roni gave her. A chart of each shooting: six assassinations during the last three years. The first; London, May 15 2012, and then Paris, March 8, 2013, Berlin, June 21, 2013, London, January 13, 2014, Detroit, April 14 2014 finally Egypt, March 2, 2015, outside of Cairo. She looks panicked and checks the timeline in her daybook: Tom was in Cairo at the time of the last shooting!

Kat hastily gathers the research into her bag. Puts on her coat and runs out of the office.

INT. TOM'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Kat rings

the bell and Tom answers.

TOM:

Kat, good show tonight. Your story

about that cult was great. Reminded me of the Manson family. Fortunately, they were found before they murdered someone.

KAT:

They are such sweet girls. You

never know who is capable of murder.

TOM:

Care for a glass of wine?

KAT:

Absolutely. It's been a long day.

67.

Kat walks in and sits on the couch. The Ted O'Hara Show is on the television. He is giving his closing monologue.

TED:

TOM:

I hope you like Seafood Risotto?

KAT:

(distracted)

That would be great.

Tom walks

the television a little and walks to Tom's bedroom. She closes the door and walks to his desk. She finds his passport and opens it. She pulls out a sheet of paper with the dates of the assassinations. She compares the dates on the sheet with Tom's passport. They all match! Kat looks
