Were The World Mine Page #2

Synopsis: If you had a love-potion, who would you make fall madly in love with you? Timothy, prone to escaping his dismal high school reality through dazzling musical daydreams, gets to answer that question in a very real way. After his eccentric teacher casts him as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, he stumbles upon a recipe hidden within the script to create the play's magical, purple love-pansy. Armed with the pansy, Timothy's fading spirit soars as he puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams. Ensnaring family, friends and enemies in this chaos, Timothy forces them to walk a mile in his musical shoes. The course of true love never did run smooth; it's a bumpy ride.

Sick, aren't they?

Sick.

"I jest to Oberon

and make him smile

When I a fat and

bean-fed horse beguile,

Neighing in likeness

of a filly foal:

And sometime lurk I

in a gossip's bowl,

In very likeness

of a roasted crab,

And when she drinks,

against her lips I bob"

This is for Helena.

Where's the rest of it?

One of my personal favorites!

Patience, Dr. Bellinger.

I've not forgotten

about your frock.

These are for the

Pyramus and Thisby finale,

which I have reinvented

as an incredibly hip song.

That's hot, Ms. T.

Shakespeare was meant

for the masses.

"How now, spirit!

Whither wander you?"

"Either I mistake your shape

and making quite,

Or else you are that shrewd

and knavish sprite

Call'd Robin Goodfellow:

are you not he that frights

the maidens of the villagery?"

"Thou speak'st aright;

I am that merry wanderer

of the night."

Now remember, my dear -

there are no limitations.

You're early.

Oh... we could...

Couldn't wait one moment more

to show off my newest protege.

Nora Fay!

I'm honored.

Did you bring the new lotions?

Darling, we brought everything!

Go ahead!

She doesn't get it.

This year's varsity rugby team

is one of the best

in the history

of our institution.

So, this has nothing to

do with time requirements?

We are concerned

about the tradition -

members of the rugby team

portraying females?

Truth be told!

It's bad for morale.

You're embarrassing them!

Only because you've

trained them

to cast judgement

upon each other.

The Academy is concerned that we

are sending the wrong message.

The Academy has been

staging Shakespeare

in this fashion

for 56 years.

We live in a different time.

Your ignorance of the history

of this Academy

and the history of the

theater is offensive.

Women were prohibited by law

to act on the Elizabethan stage!

Men filled the void.

If this confabulation is about

your insecurities with sexuality

or the sexuality of

your warriors...

I don't have issues

with my sexuality!

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

is the senior play.

The cast is chosen.

Thank you, gentlemen.

- Jock boy?

- I think he wants you.

I think he wants

to kick my ass.

I think my star quality

is rubbing off.

Why don't you rub up

on Max a little bit?

Maxie...

It's never gonna happen.

Well, stop waiting for him.

# MAYBE THAT'S WHY

MAX DON'T EVEN TRY #

# TO RUB AND KISS

AND SUCK MY THIGH #

# OR GIVE ME

THE TIME OF DAY #

# 'CAUSE HE'S GAY,

HE'S GAY, HE'S GAY! #

He's not gay!

Mom!

Mom?!

Hey, Ms. Tebbit needs

a band for the play.

Really?

Hey!

Where we going?

It's wet out here.

You'll catch cold.

You look beautiful.

Right.

Training was good?

Apparently, I've got a lot

of learning to do.

She said that?

I know I could sell the sh*t

if she'd just let me

out the door with it.

I miss your daddy.

- Dad's an a**hole.

- We were better off.

What?

- You didn't even try.

- He kicked me out.

You left!

You can have him.

I'm fine.

So, you'd rather live

with Frankie again?

She a better mother?

You're my mother!

Like it or not.

Why are you gay?

What did I do?

You didn't make me queer.

Don't use that word, Timothy!

Nobody did.

I'm just queer.

- So deal with it.

- Go to hell!

I do deal with it, Timothy.

Every day I deal with it.

You're not the only one

who has it rough around here.

Every single day I come out

of the closet just like you.

This is not just your problem.

It's both of ours

and I'm trying!

I'm open.

Over here!

Good form.

"What angel wakes me

from my flow'ry bed."

Good form?

He said that?

Isn't he like super jock?

Come on, keep going.

Demetrius says,

"Yea, art thou there?"

"Follow my voice:

Will try no manhood here."

You'll need that manhood

for your jock boy!

That's not what it means.

Manhood!

"Courage! They're about

to fight for love."

"My gentle Puck, come hither.

Thou rememberest

that very time I saw,

but thou couldst not,

Cupid all arm'd:

a certain aim he took at

a fair vestal throned by..."

"Vestal throned by the west.

And loosed his love-shaft

smartly from his bow,

As it should pierce

a hundred thousand hearts;"

Go on.

"Yet marked I where

the bolt of Cupid fell:

It fell upon a little

western flower,"

"Before milk-white,

now purple with love's wound."

Luscious. Continue.

"Fetch me that flower;

the herb I showed thee once:

The juice of it on

sleeping eye-lids laid

Will make or man

or woman madly dote

Upon the next

live creature that it sees."

"I'll put a girdle round about

the earth In forty minutes."

"Having once this juice -

"I'll watch Titania

when she is asleep

And drop the liquor

of it in her eyes."

"The next thing then

she waking looks upon...

She shall pursue it

with the soul of love."

We'd love to have you

stay for bible study.

- I have wings to make.

- It's a potluck!

No, for my son.

He's a fairy.

- A fairy?

- In a play.

Well, in real life, too.

He's gay.

My son is gay...

Or queer.

But the wings

are for the play.

A man shall not

lie with man...

Do you want the damn

eye cream or not?

Now, with the soul of love

I ask of you the memorization

of act three tonight.

Timothy.

How is your text coming?

I'm trying, but I don't

understand half of it.

Unite rhythm with words

and they will unlock

to empower you -

like A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S

DREAM come true.

"Take pains;

be perfect:
adieu."

Down... up... 9!

Down...

up... 10!

Who did it?

Look who just

flew in from Fairyland?

Did you?

Hey, bud, calm down.

- Who did it?

- Let's walk.

F*ggot!

Fight! Fight!

Look, guys!

I caught a fairy!

Leave the pansy alone.

Get out of here!

He's not worth it.

"I'll put a girdle round about

the earth In forty minutes."

A girdle?

"I'll put a girdle round about

the earth... In forty minutes."

"I'll put a girdle round about

the earth...

"I'll put a girdle

round about the earth...

Cupid's love juice...
