The senior lieutenant opens the iron door, goes inside, lifts the sitting George from the bunk, takes him by the elbow, leads him to the exit from the cell. Gleb Glebovich takes Georgy's elbow from the senior lieutenant at the exit of the cell, leads him to the exit.
GLEB GLEBOVICH:
(To George)
Bravo! Are you going downhill?!
(pause)
Let's go!
22. INT. GEORGE'S APARTMENT — DAY
In the kitchen, at the table, George is sitting sideways by the window in black glasses, overgrown with stubble in a state of deep hangover. There is a battery of empty bottles of alcohol on the table, the remains of various snacks.
23. EXT. AN APARTMENT BUILDING – DAY
Gleb Glebovich opens the door to the entrance of an apartment building.
24. INT. DOORWAR OF GEORGE’S HOUSE — DAY
Gleb Glebovich is on the landing of the house floor. He has a leash with a guide dog "Buran" in his hand. Gleb Glebovich presses the bell button of George's apartment: one, two, three. No answer. He pulls on the door, it is unlocked, it opens. Gleb Glebovich goes into the apartment, to the kitchen, sits down next to George, takes George's hand and puts it on Buran's forehead.
GLEB GLEBOVICH:
Getting shitfaced? And I brought you a friend.
Buran positively wags his tail, looks at George. Buran licks George's outstretched palm. George smiled.
25. EXT. AN APARTMENT BUILDING – DAY
George and Buran leave the house. Gleb Glebovich is waiting for them there. Gleb Glebovich is smiling. They walk along the sidewalk together, away from the house.
26. INT. LIBRARY — DAY
Georgy and three students are at the table, with a pile of books in front of them. There is a reading of the text, a lively discussion.
27. INT. CORRIDOR OF VGIK — DAY
Georgy comes out of the elevator, turns right by touch, goes to the cinema screening room, enters.
28. INT. SCREENING ROOM — DARK
George gropes his way into the middle of the cinema screening room. The lights go out, the screening of the feature film "The Chairman" has begun.
29. INT. AUDIENCE — DAY
Exam. Georgy is wearing black glasses, a formal suit, and a white shirt, sitting on a chair next to the teacher's desk. George pulls out a ticket, the teacher reads out a question to George. George answers.
30. INT. FITNESS CENTER — DAY
George repeatedly performs bench presses with a barbell. The muscles of George's face and body are tense.
31. EXT. EVENING STREET — EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Georgy and Buran return home with a bag filled with groceries, enter the entrance.
32. INT. GEORGE'S APARTMENT — EVENING, ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING
Georgy's apartment, the desk is illuminated by a desk lamp, a transistor is quietly broadcasting on the table. George is sitting at the table, using a special Braille device for the blind, is passionate about writing (the script). Georgy stops writing, says a short text on a Dictaphone, continues to write. The dog Buran is sitting at the table.
George turns to the Blizzard, pats, pats on the head, the dog is basking. George returns to writing. George finishes the text, knocks the sheets together with his hands, stitches them with a thick thread, writes a "Script", puts it in a black briefcase.
George thought with joy, begins to sniff, smells smoke, stands up abruptly. Buran starts barking, runs to the door, brings a leash in his teeth. George opens the front door, goes out.
33. INT. STAIRWELL — DAY
George goes out onto the landing. There's a scum on it. Children's voices are heard calling for help from the apartment opposite. George is heading towards the burning apartment.
Georgy coughs, gasps, beats with all his might sideways against the door: one, two, three — and knocks down the door to the burning apartment. There is a lot of smoke inside, there are frightened children in the hallway – a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. In the hands of a boy – a car, a girl – a blue teddy bear.
The children are delighted with the appearance of George, rush to him. George picks up the boy in his arms, the girl holds onto the pocket of George's trousers – they are moving away from the apartment. Georgy finds the railing of the stairs by touch, all three begin to descend. Buran is with them.
TITLE:
The Cinema Fund (or the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation)
Georgy approaches the building of the Ministry of Culture (Cinema Fund), accompanied by a dog, carrying a black briefcase. George and Buran enter the building.
35. INT. BIG HALL CINEMA FUND — DAY
George walks deeper into the hall. At the back of the hall, a specialist responsible for receiving Scripts (a middle-aged lady) stands behind the counter, dissatisfied with the entrance of the dog. George submits his Script to a specialist. The specialist looks at George incredulously through black glasses, accepts the Script. The specialist takes out a logbook, turns to the vis-a-vis, takes George's hand, sticks in a ballpoint pen, brings it to the place where he needs to sign. George signs, thanks, and leaves.
The specialist silently follows George with his gaze.
36. EXT. NOVODEVICHY PONDS — EARLY MORNING, LIGHT FOG
A peaceful George is sitting on a bench in a deserted park in the lotus position. Nearby, along the pond, the dog Buran runs, running away and returning to George. In the silence, a loud call "Buran, Buran" is heard, this is Gleb Glebovich calling the dog. Gleb Glebovich came up to the bench with George, he is holding a large envelope with the inscription "Cinema Fund" in his hands.
GLEB GLEBOVICH:
Hello George!
GEORGY:
Hello Gleb Glebovich!
Georgy hands Gleb Glebovich a silver thermos.
GEORGY:
Coffee, Gleb Glebovich?
Gleb Glebovich takes a thermos from George's hands, and he slaps a large envelope with the inscription "Cinema Fund" into George's hands.
GLEB GLEBOVICH:
Good news! The answer came from the Cinema Foundation: your script is being taken into work. Congratulations!
George is delighted, smiling.
GEORGY:
(with pleasure)
Thank you, Gleb Glebovich!
Georgy and Gleb Glebovich are sitting on a bench, looking into the distance. Gleb Glebovich drinks coffee from the lid of a thermos.
37. INT. GYM — EVENING. ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING
George is walking quickly on a treadmill with headphones on... — A Russian pop song can be heard in George's headphones. At the end of the song, they announced:
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Culture news is on the air. Called in the Middle Ages the island of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of travelers, prisoners and orphans, the Italian island of Lido in the Adriatic gathered the entire European and world cinema community for the world's oldest annual Venice Film Festival. According to the results of 10 days of work, the Russian screenwriter Georgy Abaev was awarded the Golden Azella prize for the best original screenplay by the decision of the jury of the luminaries of the world cinema. "Covered by Deir es-Zor" is a real story of the period of the civil war in Syria in 2018 about a village of the Sheikh Issa tribe that was on the verge of destruction by terrorists, but survived thanks to Russian soldiers.
George smiles haughtily, he is infinitely glad:

38. INT. STAS'S APARTMENT— MORNING
Lisa and Stas are in the huge kitchen. Stas plays Bach on the piano. Lisa is cooking in the kitchen in an apron, Lisa is in the last month of pregnancy.
The TV on the refrigerator is broadcasting a report from the Venice Film Festival. Lisa became interested, left her business, sits down on a chair, amplifies the sound of the TV, focuses on the report. Stas finished playing music, comes up to Lisa from behind, gently puts his hands on Lisa's shoulders, both are watching the report. The reporter is broadcasting:

News from Italy. The Venice Film Festival ends its work today. Founded in 1932 by the ideological inspirers Luciano De Feo and Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, the global Venice Film Festival gathered more than 300 reporters from all over the world at its opening in 1934. The oldest international film festival, called the Venice Biennale International Exhibition of Cinematographic Art, is held annually in August or September on the island of Lido. According to the authoritative jury, the best script of the Venice Film Festival this year was the work of a young Russian screenwriter Georgy Abaev. Unfortunately, screenwriter Georgy Abayev could not attend the ceremony of awarding the high prize, but in a telephone conversation he cordially thanked the organizers of the film festival and the jury members. The prize for Georgy Abayev was awarded to the Russian consul of the Honorary Consulate of Russia in Venice.
Tears (either of joy or sadness) appear in Lisa's eyes.

Applicants crowd into the lobby of the VGIK. Georgy and Lisa know about admission to VGIK, they are happy.
LISA:
(smiling at George)
Are you one step closer to your dream?!
GEORGY:
(with pathos)
You're laughing for nothing! You'll see, the statuette is inevitable!
