886

01:
08:50,466 -- 01:08:51,455

All right.

887

01:
08:53,706 -- 01:08:55,901

- How'd they get there?

- What?

888

01:
08:57,626 -- 01:09:00,982

- I was dipping papier-mch earlier.

- What is this?

889

01:
09:01,786 -- 01:09:04,823

"A man was torn limb from limb...

890

01:
09:04,986 -- 01:09:07,216

...by an irate mob last night...

891

01:
09:07,386 -- 01:09:09,980

...in the fashionable SoHo area

of Manhattan.

892

01:
09:10,146 -- 01:09:13,775

Police are having difficulty identifying

the man because no form of ID...

893

01:
09:13,946 -- 01:09:16,255

...was found on his shredded clothing."

- Shredded?

894

01:
09:16,426 -- 01:09:20,305

"And his entire face was pummeled

completely beyond recognition..."

895

01:
09:20,466 -- 01:09:21,615

- Forget that.

- Wow!

896

01:
09:21,786 -- 01:09:23,299

Can't handle that right now.

897

01:
09:23,466 -- 01:09:26,026

What does a guy have to do

to get his face pummeled?

898

01:
09:26,346 -- 01:09:28,621

- Jesus! Why does that hurt so much?

- It's infected.

899

01:
09:28,786 -- 01:09:30,504

- Stop touching it!

- I want...

900

01:
09:30,666 -- 01:09:31,735

Stop touching it!

901

01:
09:32,186 -- 01:09:34,416

- I know, I'll burn it off.

- No. You're not gonna...

902

01:
09:34,626 -- 01:09:36,856

I just need matches.

I'll go ask a neighbor.

903

01:
09:37,026 -- 01:09:39,062

- No, lady, no!

- My name is Gail!

904

01:
09:39,266 -- 01:09:40,540

Lady, no!

905

01:
09:42,666 -- 01:09:44,861

[SIREN WAILING]

906

01:
09:45,986 -- 01:09:47,578

No matches.

That's enough, now.

907

01:
09:47,746 -- 01:09:49,259

Where are you going?

908

01:
09:50,186 -- 01:09:51,983

I'm going home.

I'm walking home now.

909

01:
09:52,146 -- 01:09:53,943

- How far is home?

- East 91 st Street.

910

01:
09:54,106 -- 01:09:56,097

East 91 st, are you kidding?

911

01:
09:56,866 -- 01:09:58,936

Listen, I like you

and I don't know why...

912

01:
09:59,106 -- 01:10:01,540

Why don't I give you a ride

in my Mister Softee truck?

913

01:
10:01,706 -- 01:10:03,185

How does that sound?

914

01:
10:08,626 -- 01:10:11,015

- Where's the truck?

- Right around the corner.

915

01:
10:21,106 -- 01:10:22,664

PAUL:

Well, come on.

916

01:
10:26,746 -- 01:10:28,065

Come on.

917

01:
10:29,906 -- 01:10:31,305

- What's the matter?

- Shut up.

918

01:
10:31,466 -- 01:10:32,945

- What?

- Shut up.

919

01:
10:33,106 -- 01:10:34,505

What's wrong?

920

01:
10:35,106 -- 01:10:36,824

- You're dead, pal.

- I'm what?

921

01:
10:37,186 -- 01:10:38,505

Gail.

922

01:
10:38,706 -- 01:10:41,425

Gail, what are you doing?

What's wrong?

923

01:
10:41,666 -- 01:10:45,102

What...? Gail? What is that?

Are you still giving me a lift home?

924

01:
10:45,266 -- 01:10:47,621

What are you looking at me

like that for?

925

01:
10:48,306 -- 01:10:51,742

MAN:
That's him! Over there,

with the whistle. That's him! Get him!

926

01:
10:52,106 -- 01:10:53,903

Oh, sh*t!

927

01:
11:09,146 -- 01:11:11,706

Help! Help! Call the police!

928

01:
11:11,866 -- 01:11:14,255

I went to school with your son!

929

01:
11:14,426 -- 01:11:18,942

I mean, Mom, it's me!

I can't... Oh, goddamn it!

930

01:
11:31,466 -- 01:11:33,661

[ICE CREAM TRUCK JINGLE PLAYS]

931

01:
11:33,826 -- 01:11:35,657

[NEIGHBORS SHOUTING]

932

01:
11:38,466 -- 01:11:42,300

You're so stupid!

Come on! Cut it out!

933

01:
11:42,466 -- 01:11:44,582

[WOMAN SCREAMING]

934

01:
11:47,106 -- 01:11:48,937

[MAN SCREAMS]

935

01:
11:53,906 -- 01:11:55,498

I'll probably get blamed for that.

936

01:
12:06,786 -- 01:12:10,574

What do you want from me?

What have I done?

937

01:
12:10,746 -- 01:12:13,544

I'm just a word processor,

for chrissake!

938

01:
12:25,546 -- 01:12:27,457

Excuse me. Hi.

939

01:
12:28,826 -- 01:12:30,976

I wonder, would you...

940

01:
12:31,146 -- 01:12:32,818

It's okay.

941

01:
12:33,586 -- 01:12:36,225

Would you help me?

Would you please help me?

942

01:
12:39,266 -- 01:12:40,938

What do you want me to do?

943

01:
12:42,226 -- 01:12:45,536

Where do you live?

Can you take me home?

944

01:
12:45,706 -- 01:12:49,745

Because there's certain things

that I, you know, will not do.

945

01:
12:50,906 -- 01:12:52,817

I'm telling you in advance.

946

01:
12:54,426 -- 01:12:55,905

PAUL:

Oh...

947

01:
12:56,746 -- 01:12:57,861

Oh...

948

01:
12:58,066 -- 01:12:59,499

Uh...

949

01:
13:00,186 -- 01:13:04,498

I really have to tell you something

before we start. Uh...

950

01:
13:04,666 -- 01:13:08,375

I have never done this

with a man before.

951

01:
13:08,826 -- 01:13:10,418

I'm a little bit nervous.

952

01:
13:15,786 -- 01:13:17,822

Listen, can I...

953

01:
13:19,346 -- 01:13:20,745

Can I use your telephone?

954

01:
13:21,626 -- 01:13:24,777

- Sure, it's...

- I see it. That's great.

955

01:
13:27,066 -- 01:13:29,534

WOMAN:
iOperator./i

- Get me the police, please. Right away.

956

01:
13:29,706 -- 01:13:31,219

iJust a minute./i

957

01:
13:33,106 -- 01:13:37,896

MAN:
iTwelfth Precinct, Fitzgerald./i

- Yes, officer. Thank God. Okay.

958

01:
13:38,066 -- 01:13:42,582

My name is Paul Hackett. I'm in SoHo.

I don't know the exact location.

959

01:
13:42,746 -- 01:13:45,260

I'm being persecuted

by a vigilante mob.

960

01:
13:45,426 -- 01:13:47,223

I'm sure you're aware of their actions.

961

01:
13:47,386 -- 01:13:52,255

Now, I have every reason in the world to

believe that my life is in serious danger.

962

01:
13:52,426 -- 01:13:55,623

Now, evidently,

there's a series of robberies...

963

01:
13:55,786 -- 01:13:58,016

...that are being conducted

in this neighborhood.

964

01:
13:58,186 -- 01:14:00,017

i- Just get some sleep, buddy./i

- And...

965

01:
14:00,186 -- 01:14:02,336

Hello? Hello?

966

01:
14:02,946 -- 01:14:04,425

Hello?

967

01:
14:06,186 -- 01:14:11,021

Oh, wow! Oh, wow!

968

01:
14:11,466 -- 01:14:13,696

I don't believe you...

969

01:
14:14,066 -- 01:14:15,943

Oh, my...

970

01:
14:22,586 -- 01:14:25,703

I'm sorry. I wonder...

971

01:
14:26,426 -- 01:14:29,145

...could I just crash out on

your couch for a couple hours?

972

01:
14:29,306 -- 01:14:30,739

I am just beat.

973

01:
14:30,906 -- 01:14:32,976

- Why don't you just go home.

- Pal...

974

01:
14:33,586 -- 01:14:36,180

...I've been asking myself that one

all night long.

975

01:
14:36,346 -- 01:14:39,338

So? So, what happened? Why can't you?

976

01:
14:40,626 -- 01:14:41,945

All right.

977

01:
14:42,946 -- 01:14:45,301

I met this girl tonight, okay,

in a coffee shop.

978

01:
14:45,466 -- 01:14:49,141

She gave me her phone number.

So when I got home, I gave her a call.

979

01:
14:49,306 -- 01:14:53,822

She said to come over. In the cab,

all my money flew out the window.

980

01:
14:53,986 -- 01:14:57,058

Then I got to know this girl

and I didn't get along with her well.

981

01:
14:57,226 -- 01:14:58,625

It didn't work out, so I left.

982

01:
14:59,026 -- 01:15:02,336

I tried to take a subway tonight.

Joseph Minion

Joseph Minion (born 1957 in Teaneck, New Jersey) is an American film director and screenwriter, best known for Martin Scorsese's After Hours (1985). Born in New Jersey in 1957, Minion briefly attended NYU Film School before finishing his studies at Columbia University, then renowned for its screenwriting program. In 1984, Minion's script for After Hours was optioned by Griffin Dunne and Amy Robinson, the latter a former actress who'd appeared as Harvey Keitel's damaged girlfriend in Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973). Robinson sent Minion's screenplay to Scorsese, whose Last Temptation of Christ had recently fallen through; production on After Hours started shortly afterward. Later, it surfaced that Minion had plagiarized portions of After Hours from radio host Joe Frank, who sued and settled for an undisclosed sum.Minion continued his screenwriting career with 1987's Julia and Julia starring Kathleen Turner; 1989's Vampire's Kiss, starring Nicolas Cage; Motorama (1991); and On the Run (1999). He also worked again with Martin Scorsese in 1986 for an episode of Amazing Stories, "Mirror, Mirror".As a director, Minion made his debut for producer Roger Corman with 1987's Daddy's Boys, said to have been thrown together at the last minute to make use of standing sets for Big Bad Mama II. His last outing as director was for another low-budget feature, Trafficking (1999). more…
